I don't think it got a lot of *hate*...more like a lot of "meh". :p

I would indeed be curious to hear that Avengers Suite. Especially with the Scott Glasgow co-composing tag. He's an excellent composer who I never thought I'd see contributing to an RC score...True, there's even less worthwhile new material here than in On Stranger Tides. But on the other hand, this one isn't intellectually bankrupt the way that one is, using the wrong themes in the wrong places etc. But then again, in terms of an album, rehash is easier on the ears than "Vayentha" and "Seek and Find". :b

It's a quandary for sure. Certainly what both scores have in common is the trashing of a series' previously strong musical track record. :/Same...I really wanna hear it.So having just seen the film recently and comparing the album to what's used, this is actually one of the best presentations of a Zimmer score.

Now having relistened to the album a few times since release, I honestly have to say that, for me, this is one of the Z-mans worst scores. Even more so than On Stranger Tides, in my opinion.

The biggest issue with this score is the lack of any strong new material. There is one strong theme introduced, with two small motifs compensating for the lack of original material. It just comes across as lazy, and definitely reeks of temp-tracking. Props to Zimmer and co. for giving a new spin on the old material though. The electronic sound works more often than not. That "Avengers Suite" is making me wonder if Jackman was initially gonna incorporate the different franchise themes before the directors decided to go the route they did.

As much as I like this score (I really don't get some of the hate it received) even I'll admit that it should have been more faithful to the preexisting ideas.
Didn't make it. Was supposed to, ended up on KFP 3 & Bat V Sup instead. That's a damned good question actually, given that there's barely any choral writing in the score (and what there is is very basic Zimmery "aeiou" stuff).Look here - download-soundtracks.comEdmund, I thought there were scheduling conflicts with Alice 2 and Tim wanted him to do that one. Not entirely sure as these movies were pretty far apart, but there production could have ended around the same time.Wait a minute! Guys, where is Eric Whitacre? Was he working on Inferno or not?
Anybody have this??Probably has something to do with the fact that Burton is now divorced while Elfman is happily married. Different lifestyles now, so they probably aren't on the same page anymore.

my thoughts exactly.I assume that there were scheduling conflicts with The Girl on the Train, but that can't be the whole story; surely you'd expect Elfman to prioritize the Tim Burton movie in that case...Do you know why Elfman didn't score this?
A true collaboration then! Cool. It's a decent score, but at a lot of points it felt like an Elfman score without his personality or any really memorable themes...Yeah they really worked together, doing cues together, arranging eacher, sometimes one more in charge of something etc. As for the "techno track", it's the work of Jason Soudah actually. So, Hybrid, will you be able to tell us more about this one? How exactly did Margeson and Higham divide up duties? It sounds pretty unified, stylistically, except for the one techno track...Lieber Hans

Monika Zimmer
(Projekt Band PHANTOM STRINGS)
