Dunno if this is a troll post or a legit one... but I do agree to an extent. Both Mortal Engines and Alita show a HUGE improvement in Tom’s compositional technique, regardless of Conrad Pope’s contribution (which I’m sure still has something to do with it.)

I actually enjoy his early works (300, Point Break, Run All Night, Divergent) but you can definitely hear the vast difference in quality over time, and as Tom grows as a composer I’m sure his future scores will be the same way.5 years and it sounds like a blend of bvs and fury road. both of which come after it.Woah, this sounds outdated already, like a bad 90s video game. For the record, it was composed 4 years ago. This fetishization of technology over compositional technique is absolutely ridiculous.

Now, Tom has seen the errors of his ways and hired some actual orchestrators (not the RCP clown bunch) and Mortal Engines and Battle Angel Alita are actually excellent scores. They show that he masters compositional technique to the hilt. This early stuff - I suspect it will be buried soon.
Richter is a conceptual artist, I love his Leftovers score, but come one, scoring to picture ?

He writes pieces that are used in scenes, not the other way around...

Richter scoring a moon buggy chase ? Hell no... lol you could see from day one it was gonna be replaced...^ Yeah the edit floating around matches Felix’s almost to a T. Only major difference is

“Our Final Stand - Showdown - United Greece - Finale”

Which is broken up into four separate cues. Realistically you could edit it anyway you want if you prefer the smaller cues. Personally, I like the long suite-like format of this release. Kinda like the album release for “Event Horizon” lol.
I hope they at least release Richter's score. My Edit:

01. Rise Of An Empire - Marathon - King Darius - Artemisia - Man To God - War (13:36)
=

M1A Rise of An Empire (09:48)
M1B From Man to God King (03:44)

02. Hybrid can you tell us what album cues are the suites ?!well, from what Lorne wrote on Twitter, it should be releasedCool thanks for getting back! I am still a little bit confused though. Do any Basil Poledouris cues go somewhere in that list? It’s been a very very long time since I have seen the film. The Hans cues used are :

1M1 OPENING CREDITS / MAIN TITLE (USED FROM 2:18 TO 3:03)
1M2 GOLDEN STAIRCASE (USED FROM 0:00 TO 1:56)
2M2 JACK SEES WOLVES
2M3 BLACK WOLF
2M6 THE TREK CONTINUES (USED FROM 0:28 TO 1:15)
3M1 THIN ICE
3M2 SKUNKER'S DEATH
3M3 FULL MOON WOLF ATTACK
3M3A MORNING WOLF ATTACK
6M4 THE BEAR
6M4A THE BEAR ATTACK
7M3 IN THE STABLE
7M5 WHITE FANG FIGHTS SATAN
8M1 FIGHT MONTAGE (FIRST HALF USED)
8M3 PIT FIGHT (FINAL 20 SEC USED)

All the rest, by definition, is Basil's score...Hey hybrid soldier! You mentioned on the ghost in the shell page about white fang so I came here! Can you give us a list of the cues as they appear in the film please? The Basil Poledouris cues and the Hans Zimmer cues please
I imagined it ... hopefully this time Max Ritcher does not give him a lollipop and refuses to launch his musicYes Unbreakable.
Exactly like White Fang. Have Poledouris write a score, then HZ do another, then pick what you want from both.
Ghost In The Shell was kinda different...In the credits of the movie, Max Ritcher appears as the Main Composer, meanwhile, Lorne appears as Additional MusicI find that it would be best to accredit both and launch the two soundtracks and all happy.Hybrid implies that Max Ritcher's score was rejected, and that Lorne made a new one and in the end, the best of both has been used. I am right?

A new Oscars' nomination for Hans ZIMMER
A nomination for John POWELL

Hans ZIMMER has been nominated for his music for INCEPTION. But the composer admits he doesn't understand why Christopher NOLAN'sn't nominated for the category "Best Director", nor Lee SMITH for "Film Editing".
He adds that everybody is telling all the time the film industry must do something inovating & successful at the same time, and INCEPTION owns this two required qualities. He thinks at the end that the movie's too much success let the academy think it couldn't be considered like art.

Hans ZIMMER is nominated alongside his friend John POWELL for How To Train Your Dragon, Alexandre Desplat's King's Speech, A.R. Rahman's 127 Hours, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's The Social Network.

The ceremony will take place on February, the 27th. 2011.

Hans Zimmer, one of the greatest composers of our time, I, for one, am your biggest fan and will never tire of listening to your music, especially "Catatonic" many thanks!

@ "the guy below"
well spoken! The Village, Defiance, Road to Perdition, Wall-E the legendary Morricone stuff truly deserved this. Well I see Morricone's life-time achievement Award a couple of years ago as a big SORRY!

Hans is ignored? Then what about Howard, Newman (Thomas), Morricone? Each of them should get at least (IMO) 3 Oscars.

wtf again!! Zimmer didn't win the BAFTA :(
Alexandre Desplat won...damnit what's wrong with these award people for f***'s sake :)
it's exacly how Hans discribed it once: "They say you have to do something new, but when you are inventing something never experienced before successfully, it seems they stop treating you as an artist!" I'm really angry and upset and disapointed!

The only hope are the Oscars in two weeks... but they'll probably give it to The Social Network

Tim reply Replies: 0 || 2011-02-14 00:00:00
which I couldn't understand! All score nominees did fantastic jobs. The music fits very, very will in The Social Network, but it doesn't play such an important role as in Inception. It would be a shame if Zimmer would not win. In addition to the worst case (Chris Nolan gets dissed again by not getting his well deserved writing oscar) we will have the proof that somethings wrong in this world...non of this is real...oh god...we're gonna be victims of extractors!! :D

Let's be honest. I'm pretty sure Hans holds the record for being nominated and lost more times than he's won (which is once). I don't actually know this for sure, but it has to be true. It would be a tremendous shame if he didn't win, and there IS something wrong with this world. The Scoial Network is gonna get it becuase it won the Golden Globe, and Hollywood loves that movie. I liked them both (the film and the soundtrack) but it does not deserve to win either. I mean for once, can't Hans win his long overdue Academy Award ever since he won for the Lion King back in 1995? It makes me so angry, it's like he's being ignored (minus the nomination). I'm praying like everyone else that he'll win......

True thinking of Hans Zimmer............success and are fused and recognized aren't something that is digestible by award organizations.

J2 reply Replies: 0 || 2011-02-14 00:00:00
I think Hans is so good, he makes it look easy for himself.

For him to win, it's almost like it's more important to out-do himself than the competition, which is extremely difficult to do since he sets the bar for himself so high in all his projects to begin with. It's great to be recognized by awards, but I think it's obvious based on the quality and creativity that Hans consistently delivers, that he doesn't measure his own success by what awards others want to give him, but by tirelessly reaching for the limits of what he's capable of.

Oh damn!! Toy Story 3 (the movie) was excellent but it was the only NON-interessant soundtrack on the 5 nominees... and it won. As always...

Congrats to Mr. Zimmer on his Oscar Nomination. Inception is a great movie and it should have been nominated as well as the actors and actresses in the movie.

It's a shame that The Social Network got the award. This music is nice, but that's all. Nothing to compare to Inception masterpiece, or even with very good and complex scores like King's Speech and Alice in Wonderland.

I can't believe that they reward a music category only because the movie may be pleasant.

I'm happy to know this. Inception movie is amazing... Such an original movie needed a quite original soundtrack... It creates a drama, suspense and fear atmosphere. Congratulations Mr. Zimmer

Here is your answer:

Walt Disney Presents
George Bruns - (19??)
Warner Brothers
Max Steiner - (1937)
George Duning - (19??)
Max Steiner - (1999) : "As Time Goes By"
Warner Brothers Home Video
Jerry Goldsmith - (1988)
Warner Brothers Television
Craig Stuart Garfinkle - (1999)

New Regency
Danny Elfman - (1993) : from Sommersby

It seems Zimmer did the 1942 logo music:

1492 Pictures
Hans Zimmer - ()

And Mancina did:
Walt Disney Pictures
John Debney - (1991)
Mark Mancina - (2006)

It's simple:
Nolan wasn't nominated so Fincher can receive the Oscar. But beleive me, our English friend will get the Award in the sript category.

But more about why Toy Story 3 was nominated in both the Animated and Feature film category?

Anonymous reply Replies: 0 || 2011-01-29 00:00:00
I'm glad Inception made it into the awards, but I don't think it will take the gold....even though I may want Zimmer to win, I just the think the academy is going to snub Inception.

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-01-29 00:00:00
Hybrid, I read on a website Hans composed the theme for Warner Bros./20th Century Fox's Regency Enterprises. Is this true? And where can I find it?
