Atli Örvarsson has been hired to score Harald Zwart's new film, The Mortal Instruments - City Of Bones, set to release on August 23rd, 2013. Atli previously worked with Zwart on The Karate Kid (2010) but was ultimately replaced by James Horner...
Among his other projects, Atli recently completed the score to the upcoming czech film Colette. He also completed in 2012 two films yet to be released : A Single Shot and Evidence. Atli also helped Hans Zimmer writing music for the upcoming Man Of Steel.
Other than film scoring, Atli has started a band, Torrek, "fusing Gaelic & Scandinavian folk elements under the umbrella of cinematic electronica" with Hilda Örvarsdóttir, the Neff brothers (who had worked with Atli on The Eagle score) and Satnam Ramgotra (regular percussionist at Remote Control).
David Buckley is a composer on the rise and is quickly making a name for himself. I first discovered Buckley’s work through Harry Gregson-Williams since Harry is one of my favorite composers. Buckley did some additional music on a few of Harry’s scores like Flushed Away, The Number 23, Shrek The Third and Gone Baby Gone. His solo projects include the Joel Schumacher thriller Blood Creek, the epic martial arts fantasy The Forbidden Kingdom and recently the Luc Besson produced action flick From Paris With Love. I was honored when David agreed to do a live interview.
