Whoa, Hans Zimmer did more than I thought. Cool! It's interesting how a lot of RCP scores are collaborative efforts.
Though HZ confirmed to me working on things like Armageddon or Transformers 2, he's never really admitted "working" on that one.
He's on the cue sheet but told me he "helped Ramin find his way" (meaning in this big mess).
So he probably never really sat down and took the keyboard to write anything, but was probably behind the guys giving ideas & where to go. ;)
I see. I really liked this score, though. They should've kept Ramin on for #2. The score to 2 was forgettable, in my opinion.
Personally I liked 2 a lot more than 1. There was a stronger balance between orchestral and electronic with Debney, and the Russian theme for Whiplash was just badass!
Granted I haven't heard this complete Iron Man 1, but from the OST I always thought it was a bit of a mess. Really simplistic and hardly any themes beyond DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN...DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN...DUN-DUN - which got old really fast. Djawadi definitely improved after this one.
Apart from the opening, there's nothing in Debney's score. Empty score for an empty film.
The first one is better in every way, and Iron Man had a THEME !
Debney did write a theme for Iron Man 2 ("I Am Iron Man", and it sounds a bit like Jerry Goldsmith's Total Recall), but for whatever reason it's hardly used in the rest of the score. Apparently that's not his fault, though, because the producers forced him not to use it (kind of the way the producers forced him not to write the first score at all...it's like they've got it out for him or something). Djawadi's theme (are you referring to the one heard in "Vacation's Over"?) is OK, but it's not much, and sounds a lot like TMNT by Klaus Badelt...
And what exactly do you mean by an "empty" score?
To @Hybridyou say Debney´s Score for Iron Man 2 is empty. So, this question here is: What Tha Fuck are you talking about? What the hell did you hear? I´m not saying Djawadi did bad job. Djawadi's Iron Man has good themes, but Debney's Iron Man 2 extend the sound Djawadi did in the first Iron Man. And has a better balance between Orchestral and Electronic and add Chorus.
I'm based on the (not really good) film, not the OST. Never heard it, never will. I've seen the film a couple of time, and I keep to my point.
I've actually not listened to either of the Iron Man scores by themselves, just with the movies. And judging from that I can say that I liked the score to #1 more.
In this version, you can hear all the nuances drowned out by sound sx in the theater. My particular favorite is "Dog Fight" by Atli Örvarsson; you'd never notice the variety of sounds in the theater or on DVD.
It's certainly better in chronological order as inteded! I overlooked this score when it first came out, but it gets better with repeated listens. The themes are more obvious in the new presentation; it's also interesting to hear who composed what
so you have brought those complete scores that are recently on the internet hybrid? :) oh please, is there a chance for BATMAN BEGINS complete score too? Or The Thin Red Line (recording session) and lion king or last samurai??
