So I finally found the complete score for this one (same track listing as the one posted below by AnoSession) but unfortunately, for some reason all the cues that weren't on the album sound like demos. The soloists and synthetic elements are fine but the orchestral parts are samples, and not particularly sophisticated ones either. Has anyone come across a version that has the "real" copies of those cues or are they still unavailable? (Luckily there's nothing really important missing, a lot of the unreleased stuff is just slight variations on what we already have, but would still be nice to have from a completist standpoint)
This is by far my facorite John Powell score. Truly, deeply epic (I mean... Rooftops is a masterpiece of musical score). It's an inspired piece of work and it keeps evolving all along with those amazing themes. Rarely have I liked a score that much.

favorite* but I believe you understood the point nonetheless.
Gave this one a listen today. Totally forgotten what a kickass track "Hostage" is! Glad we've got two new Powell scores to look forward to this year!

First time listening to it, unfortunately.... Good stuff. But judging from it it sounds like it inspired a lot of those POTC4 awful guitar jam tracks.

It's much more appropriate in this score, though, where parts of it take place in Spain. "Hostage" is actually nowhere near my favorite track, though..."Rooftops" and "Bull Run" take the cake for me.
Do you think it is possible that John Powell reunites with Doug Liman on the upcoming "Edge of Tomorrow"? They've always worked together. It could be an extremely nice return to the action genre.

This is kinda surprising for me, I thought Powell is doing it.

I sure hope so. I like the animation scores as much (or probably more) than the next guy but I hope he can keep the assignments a bit more varied than they have been in the past few years. Knight and Day here is his last live-action movie IIRC and that's over three years old by now.

Note something: No cue lengths.

Doesn't mean anything. Sometimes people delete them or bother typing them out, or a playlist generator does not include them. Even the slates mean nothing if you have nothing to compare it to.

I just bought the disc and it's awesome! Fantastic music! But on the booklet I noticed that William Ross is credited as the conductor. Does anybody know why?
I really enjoyed the movie but i want to know one thing: the music when june was drunk by roy in the workshop. the soldiers attacked them and june made mistake by firing randomly. can u tell me what it is?
Thanks for your review ! It makes me looking forward to listen to it !
According to IMDB, John Powell will be far from getting bored in the next months :
# Winnie the Pooh (2011) (in production) # Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012) (filming) # Kung Fu Panda: The Kaboom of Doom (2011) (filming) # Happy Feet 2 in 3D (2011) (post-production) # Rio (2011) (post-production) # Mars Needs Moms! (2011) (post-production)
After his masterpiece for HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, I think he'll be the most wanted "animation movie composer" ! And he deserves it !
YES!!! This is the soundtrack all Powell fans have been waiting for. It's a wonderful mix of all the great Powell action scores. (look at Daren's post below, I agree 100% with him)
Thanks to iTunes, they already have this score available for purchase for $9.99, you can't get a better price for this piece of art :)
Personal favorite tracks: At The Airport: It's link the Tango song from Mr. And Mrs. Smith, and the theme for Knight and Day.
Rough Landing: A continuation of At The Airport and then a crazy action theme towards the end, reminiscient of John's earlier work on Paycheck especially the tracks Hog Chase .
Trouble On I-93: A great action piece. Reminds me a bit of Scooter Chase from Bolt and Hancock.
Running From Roy: A nice acoustic guitar piece, something familiar and different from John.
Five Star: Reminds me a lot of John and Jane's Identity, especially the string melody.
Rooftops: This is the BEST BEST BEST song on the entire score, this is John Powell's best!! It has a nice classical melody with those drums and fast action packed sequence. You can definetely picture Jason Bourne, Hancock, and Mr. And Mrs. Smith with this track. It starts off slow and then builds and never lets go until the very end.
Bull Run: Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, BAM this track comes. It's like Bim Bam Smash collided with the Mr. And Mrs. Smith and Paycheck. Excellent track!!
Overall a great soundtrack from Mr. Powell. Ashame there isn't anything else planned for him for a while :(
YES! This is going to be the next big score for John!!! It's like the score Mr. and Mrs Smith but with more of a kick!! The Bull Run song sounds like it's going to be one heck of an action packed track. I'm seriously excited.
The music was fantastic in the film. Take The Italian Job, Mr& Ms Smith and Paycheck, add some How to Train your Dragon orchestrations and you get this fantastic score. I can't wait!
