I saw a few clips from the movie on youtube. The score sounded really good. Very unlike Djawadi and very beautiful fantasy music! Can't waitI saw a few clips from the movie on youtube. The score sounded really good. Very unlike Djawadi and very beautiful fantasy music! Can't waitHonestly, I do feel bad for Elfman, because for Chrissakes hes been doing 50 Shades of Grey these days, and the last memorable scores I have of him are from 2012. But I don't think Zimmer or even Elfman for that matter are done as yet. I predict by the end of this decade Zimmer will have a new wave in popularity wash in. I'm just waiting for Elfman's wave right now...not quite seeing it yet.Glad you caught it Rockhound. Think the others were too wound up to notice !!i was trying to be funny.Pete you are funny, although u demand from others to talk about the actual soundtrack from this page, you start to talk also about another soundtrack. but ok.... i think Forgotten is a very boring track and adds nothing to the actual scene. a variation of his theme from the track Hero would have been much more intense for the ending. sadly we got 9 boring minutes of thematic development and instrumentation. Lorne can do much better as the track Hero from the same soundtrack shows.
Zimmer got X-Men: Dark Phoenix this year. And I have a hard time believing he is only scoring that film this year. Zimmer always does more than 1 film a year.No need for petty cursing .<br><br>We can discuss the soundtrack instead ! <br><br>Forgotten is cool track.It’s definitely one of Bay’s best movies. Wish he would make more drama based film obvious with some action. Can’t cope with more robots ! The ending of the film is so emotional and this track gave goosebumps at the end. Did sound very similar to the end of The Last Knight"Boring . Talk about the actual soundtrack or change the subject."<br><br>Ok, so someone else gets us on this topic, an arguement occurs, and NOW, only when you've realized you're losing the arguement, do you decide that this page is only for 12 strong. Which it's not. This is a forum we talk about whatever we want here.<br><br>But what a childish and pathetic attempt at avoiding our points. Just dismissively saying "Boring! Change the subject! My ears can't handle this criticism!!! Wah, wah, wah!" I guarantee you the next step after this is going to be petty cursing.Boring . Talk about the actual soundtrack or change the subjectUpset about success? Sounds like someone doesn't know a thing about reasonable criticism. :p<br><br>If anyone likes Balfe, then good on them. I only get annoyed when people decide he's suddenly the most amazing thing ever, which he really isn't. Even on his most competent scores, it's unlikely many would recognize him as one of the greats. Respect him, sure, but not think he's out of this world. Especially if people are still gonna be excited about hearing the work of someone else when a different person is hired (i.e. what JL might've been).
Can we please change the subject !!!!!!!!it is so boring now.This page is ment to be about the sound track to 12 StrongThere you go again, accusing me of being upset about Balfe's success when I never said anything like that. Stop putting words in my mouth.AgreedThe point is Edmund and others don’t need to keep getting upset about Balfes success.Dont reply and just focus on other conversations.No one here is interested in hearing anyone bashing any of the great composers on this site from Remote. Grow up or move on.Appreciate the voice of support. :)
Good god, this Balfe/Anonymous guys is wreaking havoc! Good thing Djawadi's fans are calmer than Balfe's.Jesus Christ, what a mess! What is wrong with you Balfe fanboys? Edmund comes in trying to settle down the situation and add some nuance and you just curse him out? He even admits to liking Lorne, basically states how the top comment is far too harsh, defends Balfe, and all he does against him is call out Michael for borderline bullying someone else into worshiping Balfe.<br><br>After all of that, all you can possibly say in response to him is "go away you John Powell fanboy"? For saying one thing against a guy basically being a mindless fanboy. Which by the way is an unbelievably poor argument because I've seen Edmund criticize Powell scores before. Is Edmund not aloud to prefer Powell? He didn't even bring his music up once in this discussion! Oh no I can see the responses now...<br><br>"superultramegoo go listen to Transformers 5 for the 50th time.we dont need youre stupidumb comments here !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Balfe has won many awardso tyou cant say any thing bad about him you Jablonsky fnaboy.stop with these demoralizing comments.!A Star Wars score that John Williams himself worked on, however briefly. An interesting time to be a film music fan indeed. <br><br>Hybrid, do you know if Powell was already hired before the director switch on Solo?Happy birthday Mr BalfeI have the same concern, but at the same time I'm really really excited and curious to hear what Williams' sensibilities filtered through Powell's voice will sound like. Those are two of my absolute favorite composers (like, honestly, those two and Hans, top three). I just hope Powell can figure out a way to make it sound natural and organic and not forced/awkward. And maybe if Powell doesn't have to worry about coming up with a main theme it leaves him more time to fine-tune the balance between the two composers' voices (or else write cool secondary material). Giacchino only had four weeks on Rogue One and while he did a decent job, it wasn't as smooth an adaptation as I'd have hoped, especially coming from the composer of Medal of Honor. My expectations are higher for Solo.<br><br>I couldn't give two shits about the movie itself but I'm grateful it exists if only because it will give us this exciting, one-of-a-kind score situation. :)<br><br>Also, there's gonna be a Star Wars score with a page on hans-zimmer.com - who'd ever have thought?

In the track "Smashing The Ring" (It's actually featured on this site), there is a Gregorian style chant around 1:22 - does anyone know if this is a pre-existing/traditional chant that they used or did Hans (or someone else) write it? I really like it.

Leonard2016-10-28 21:54:22
This is indeed a pre-existing Greogorian chant. It's the chant "Requiem Aeternam" from the mass of the dead. If you like it you shoud check out the Requiem by Maurice Duruflé which is entirely based on the chants from the mass of the dead.

Thanks for the quick and informative response!

Inferno trailer is out! Looking forward to this one from Ron and Hans!!!

Dfault2016-05-11 18:35:19
That track in this preview, is that the first peak at the album? It seems more electronic (as Hans already pointed out)

...2016-05-11 19:03:00
There's not a chance in hell that that is from the actual score. That's just trailer music.

i2016-05-11 20:01:28
That music is shit.

Dfault2016-05-11 20:17:36
Never mind indeed, thought when i first saw it 2 days ago the it could be new music, listened to it now again, i doubt it ^^

matthew reply Replies: 1 || 2015-06-06 21:32:52
so I'm going home today but I couldn't because the road was blocked and what I'm seeing is Ron Howard basically directing a scene from Inferno in downtown Budapest. I know its crazy and dump but, I mean, my first thought was: this means HZ already did some serious early work for this!

Zimson2015-06-06 22:39:28
Likely, considering that he starts writing suites very early in the process with this kind of projects.
However we won't get to hear shit untill the movie is about to be released. ;)

... reply Replies: 4 || 2015-01-07 18:28:02
I just saw that inferno is no longer listed on hans' page...
Will he not score it or is it just not confirmed?

Hybrid Soldier2015-01-07 18:53:52
Well don't worry he will, it's just way too early, In The Heart Of The Sea isn't even released yet...

bro2015-01-07 19:36:18
I'm surprised Hans wasn't involved with that.

Edmund Meinerts2015-01-07 19:58:42
Good ol' Spanish tax laws! ;)

Anyways, even though he's been using Hans pretty consistently over the last decade or so, Ron Howard has never been a one-composer kind of guy.

What I'm more surprised about is that Inferno is even still being made. I kind of get the feeling that the world is over the whole Dan Brown religious thriller thing.

Hybrid Soldier2015-01-07 20:02:04
He would have, bro, without that Spanish Tax Break ! :P

Zimson reply Replies: 4 || 2014-11-01 16:41:53
So, is Hans really confirmed for Inferno now (since it already appears in his profile)?

Hybrid Soldier2014-11-01 17:17:19
Shhhhhhhh tell no one ! ;)

Zimson 2014-11-01 17:51:04
Ok, I'll keep it down. ;) Great news, though. I'm really interested in how he's going to approach it since this one will be different from the first 2.

Hybrid Soldier2014-11-01 17:55:34
We've got some time before he starts though, the film got pushed from late 2015 to late 2016...

bro2014-11-01 20:35:26
Hans Zimmer wouldn't abandon Ron Howard anyway, they've been working together for a very long time now. Plus, this series' music belongs to Hans, they have his sonic identity and honestly only Lorne, Atli, Zanelli, or Zimmer could understand how to look to the future for a score for Inferno, and keeping the sonic identity of the previous scores.

anyone notice MOS similarities around the 6 minute mark in Science and Religion?

Anonymous2013-11-04 04:50:51
With what MOS track?

Azog, The Defiler2013-11-04 05:30:47
I just notice that some parts of Absurdity (The Lone Ranger) sounds similar to Air and the beginning of Citrine Cross (The Da Vinci Code)

rob2013-11-04 07:13:46
actually starts before the 6 min mark, starts more around the 5 minute mark and goes on for a few minutes. Not sure the exact track in MOS (ill find it) it just sounded similar when i was listening to Science and Religion

Edmund Meinerts2013-11-04 10:02:19
The Kal-El theme from Man of Steel (the one heard at the end of "Flight") is very similar to "Science and Religion", yes.

aldan2013-11-04 15:57:15
at 5:23 to be exact.

and the progression is really similar to MOS's "Goodbye My Son" 0:53 mark.

Aragorn reply Replies: 2 || 2013-07-10 00:34:36
Lorne must have used JNH's Eye For an Eye from Batman as a temp track when crafting "Immolation", because MAN do they sound the same.

Medigo2013-07-10 00:40:45
so what does this mean when you take "Am I not Merciful?" into account?

Aragorn2013-07-10 00:54:56
It means maybe JNH used Zimmer's "Am I Not Merciful" as a temp track when scoring that scene... :P So Immolation could be based off a temp track of a temp track, and thus we have musical Inception.

It should be the other way around. Angels & Demons came 4 years before TDKR

Hybrid Soldier2013-02-26 10:28:28
It's from the film's website. Very cool track, second half is a Lorne cue, of course... :P

Ds2013-02-26 11:26:55
It reminds me of The Sweeney soundtrack! Isn't it frustrating for Lorne to work so hard with Hans without getting public recognition?

Hybrid Soldier2013-02-26 11:28:23
He just did a bunch of cues on that one. 4 I've been told. Some help like Rango. :)

Jo2013-02-27 10:47:19
Which means I like Lorne's cue better, reminds me of Inception a bit. Still interested to hear the full soundtrack... so many things coming up :)

matthew2013-02-27 13:03:13
this is from the Black Hawk Down library mixed with Transformers and Rabin's Gone in 60 seconds. but a very cool mix. very brave idea because the whole universe is going the complain about this, especially this site

Mycroft2012-03-10 16:44:27
Well, you could always just watch the movie yourself and listen for when stuff from the original soundtrack appears. Of course, that could get a bit tricky when you find stuff that's a reprise or remix of stuff on the OST and it might also leave you wanting more music than what you have.

As far as I know, no such track lists exist for what you seek.
