Actually, HZ isn't "against" the idea... Trust me if there's one who would like to see mixes of TLK, TTRL or Black Hawk Down released, it's him !

The problem is he doesn't really have time to give to the past, it's always "the next project" and it never ends.Rather low, m'friend. Hans Zimmer scores almost never get expanded releases. Hans himself isn't big into those, for some reason (he would do well to learn from Lorne Balfe in that regard... :P). The only reason The Dark Knight got an extended release was because the movie was so immensely popular and that would give the studio even more money. I assume the same can be said for the upcoming Man of Steel album: either the studio is convinced that the film will make a lot of money, and so releasing more music is worth it, or Water Tower had grat sales with The Hobbit's score.

Either way, I wouldn't hold out for a Batman Begins "official" expanded release short of divine intervention. Though believe me, I'd be quite happy if such a thing happened.What's the probability of this score seeing an official expanded release like the second movie got?Everything except "We built our own world" is a suite.
That track is actually a trimmed version of "Dreams or Memories"How's that?
For those wondering what album tracks are cues vs. suites, it looks like the cues (perhaps edited) are:

Half-Remembered Dream (Warner Bros and Syncopy logos, slightly extended)
Radical Notion (Ariadne building a dream)
528491 (the "disappointed" scene where Fischer opens the safe)
Dream Within a Dream (a mix of fighting in the snow and walking through limbo)
Waiting for a Train (an edited version of Cobb's confession to Mal)
Paradox (Cobb going back to get Saito from Limbo)
Projections Bonus Track (the beginning mission)
Don't Think About Elephants Bonus Track (an edited version of the second part of the fortress fight)

Then the following would be suites:

Mombasa
One Simple Idea
Time
Old Souls
We Built Our Own WorldMy favorites are "An Idea Is Like a Virus", "Mr. Charles", ""Into the Van", and "Fischer and Son", as well as the Time Suite. :)If I had to guess, I would say the purpose of the cue sheet is to determine what goes where...Not to document all the music written/used, necessarily...I dunno. It is a shame, though. The film version of Backup is intense.This reminds me: can anyone tell me why these scores contain cues as originally recorded, but not the final film versions also/instead (like Backup)?JNH's Harvey Dent theme is beautiful.
Say what?MTV Trailer Music original version?this is mgbube and i have to say i am playing the violine and these noise do not sound like harmonics to me it sounds like shit ass recording flub or botched up special effect either way it is annoying is there some way to clean it up thanks mgbubethis is mgbube for ggctuk this is ancient message you have dug up there and this person medivh has never again shown up here so it is not stupid to assume his allegations were false i have very old interviews and will have a look at them sooner or later to clear up what hans said about amount of music composed for masterpiece the lion king thanks mgbubethis is mgbube for ggctuk what artifacts could be introduced into the music by so called downsampling can you please elaborate thanks mgbube
this is mgbube for ggctuk i am telling my idea of what missing music is one has to be the warthog rhapsody because there is no way it can not be the warthog rhapsody please see for yourself on youtube it is there thanks mgbubeYou can't even download and purchase a digital copy anymore. I beginning to doubt a CD...I would say yes...that choir sounds very much like stock Zimmer choir...Thanks Hybrid!Here we go... :P

This probably is one of the most underrated Zimmer scores he ever did.

MGDrone2012-08-07 22:54:44
I agree, it's one of my favorites. First Ideas is a spectacular piece, and it's a very well-rounded score overall.

Jasper2012-08-08 20:52:07
Agreed. I really hope Zimmer will do some of these smaller, more dialogue based movies.

Mr. Charles2012-08-09 02:14:06
The FYC is pretty nice, although it's only 8 tracks

MGDrone2012-08-09 04:34:32
@Jasper: I hope so as well, they bring out the best in Zimmer. He's doing Ron Howard's next film (according to IMDB), so I hope it'll be something on the same level as this.

@Mr. Charles: Does it contain anything that's not on the album? I've heard of it, but have never been able to find it.

Brilliant Work!!
...and a really curious movie, :__:
I love all the score, but my favourite track is STATUS. Sooo suggestive and beautiful.

Hybrid Soldier reply Replies: 0 || 2010-11-07 00:00:00
I've seen the film since then, and no, it's not on OST, it's some sort of 70s TV typical TV music show, not linked with the score...

We can call it source music... ;)

Bondo reply Replies: 0 || 2010-11-07 00:00:00
So anyone who has seen the film, is the David Frost TV show opening that Hybrid mentioned on the OST?

Adrian reply Replies: 0 || 2010-03-29 00:00:00
@ Hybrid,

What a shame you haven't seen the film! It's very tense (like the score), but in reality, nothing really threatening is hapening... Very good work by Ron Howard!! Wish he did the same on A&D...

Hybrid Soldier reply Replies: 0 || 2009-05-13 00:00:00
Atli wrote only one cue, the David Frost TV show opening... As I don't know the film, I can't say what it is... ;)

Skyler reply Replies: 0 || 2009-05-13 00:00:00
According to the ASCAP website, tracks 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, and 13 were co-written by Lorne Balfe.

I'm not sure exactly how much music Atli Örvarsson contributed.

Mh...I've heard this CD, I've a lots of Hans Zimmer original CD but I think that this isn't really good...I love the major part of his composition but this isn't at his great level! Right?

Anonymous reply Replies: 0 || 2009-01-25 00:00:00
Its actually a very nice score, and all using sampled instrument ( no real orchestra at all in that )

bruceV reply Replies: 0 || 2009-01-13 00:00:00
Many many thanks Mr Zimmer for creating this astonishing MUSIC!! : )

It is such a powerful, absorbing and very well orchestrated soundtrack!! Every single fan of Zimmerish music and of the Soundtracks genre MUST have this particular CD in their collection!!

I am really surprised that it has been written by some critics that this particular soundtrack lacks a lot of elements. As a matter of fact, one of it’s drawbacks is the duration of the cd and the lack of well–developed themes...
Well, obviously as fans of the Zimmer music we shouldn’t take seriously every observation made by irrelevant sources..

As for the part of being similar to other soundtracks such as The Bourne Identity, that’s not entirely true.. Yes, there are parts, a lot of moments actually that could easily be identified with the KIND of music that Remote Control musicians produce (including HZ and all the other composers)..

Unfortunately I haven’t seen the movie already, (since it hasn’t been released to our country), but I imagine that it will be a perfect match and it will fit the picture as lovely as it fits to your ears..

Like always, The Zimmer Music surpasses itself and reaches levels of sheer perfection!!!...

Very good OST. it matches to the film very well, intensifies the action, suspense...

On upcomingfilmscores.com, it says that Hans will score Rango, Gore Verbinski's film. This will be the fifth time they worked together.

Ron Howard can now trust Hans for his movies which I am excited because James Horner is very busy composer which he is probably still working Jim Cameron's Avatar.
