No, don't expect anything from the first score to return.Good to know. Hybrid do you have any insight on this release?^ Lol yeah I guess you could count it like that.

I知 wondering if the template will be similar to Thor: Ragnarok, with electronics in the forefront but still utilizing the orchestra throughout. And the even bigger question; will any of RGW痴 themes return?Yes, Tina Guo did record music for WW84. Although you could make an argument that since she was using an electric cello, that is "synth" music. ;)@mephariel
Even better, I知 hoping for a hybrid type score.

And Tina Guo did post a vid of her recording the WW theme a while back, not sure if it was specifically for this project but if it was it sounds badass!
I assume more concerts will be scheduled... looking forward to seeing BARCELONA in the list, please! :)It'd be awesome if Hans and co. went the Thor: Ragnarok route and created some kickass psychedelic synth ballads. I'm interested to hear how they interpret their WW theme for this setting.Is there a date for Lisbon, Portugal?
Thank youthis is never hans :DI just finished the movie last week and the score was the best thing about the film. The scene using the cue "Simba is Alive!" is perfect.
Not all synths. Mazzaro and Fleming posted pictures of them recording the score at Air Studios early in November so there will be some orchestral or instrumental music.As the trailer posts, soundtrack coming from WaterTower Music.No, it's just a slight rework of Blue Monday by New Order. Admittedly, it's quite catchy. Nothing from Hans tho, not even the WW-theme at the end which they did for the first movies trailers. Guess we have to wait till the movie comes out.The only thing that matters to me about the movie is Hans, so I wonder, has the trailer musicalized Hans?Synth Hans I知 guessing ;-)
Yeah, it's a nice little mini HTTYD score. It's a bit frustrating that he's seemingly never allowed to develop an idea for very long before moving on to the next thing and the next (probably because of the pacing of the short), but I like the way he plays around with Powell's themes. It makes me think that if they ever decide to make a fourth HTTYD movie and Powell decides he's said all he has to say in the series, Willis would be a good choice to continue it (Zanelli/Pirates style).He's also credited on one short cue from Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, but other than that, nothing that I know of...Just saw the movie. Seemed like the score is enjoyable enough, but I didn't hear much that would distinguish it from the first one really except some kind of standard villain material.Because those have nothing to do with Hans Zimmer or associated composers....How come the Pixar franchise albums like "Toy Story," "Monsters, Inc.," "Finding Nemo" and "Cars" didn't make it in this website?

The first minute of "Rock House Jail" is that Hans, NGS, or both? I know the track uses part of NGS' original theme, and Hybrid has made it sound like most of the track is a Hans cue. But that first minute is one I've always been curious about.

Hybrid Soldier2018-09-01 09:55:53
First 2 minutes of "Rock House Jail" is the cue "Tour's Over Bob", credited to Nick, Don Harper & Steven Stern.

So, it's Nick, Hans had nothing to do with that one... :)

Bayhem2018-09-01 11:08:55

==================================

Very interesting. I've always thought that it was Hans. The piece is a pure Zimmer sound and style. Still, good to know who really did it. Props to Nick, Don and Steven.

Wow, Hybrid, I didn't know you had a top favorite!

Dimitris Krommidas2015-07-12 18:31:48
Well, a lot of people around the world have this score deep inside their hearts because back then, in 1996, it was the way that they discovered Hans Zimmer.
I am one of them.
Thank you mr.Zimmer.

Edmund Meinerts2015-07-13 18:22:30
You should thank Messrs. Glennie-Smith, Gregson-Williams et al s well, Dimitris... ;)

The "Theme Idea" on NGS' page, is that the theme the director didn't like and made Hans replace? Because no offense to Hans, but I like NGS' theme better.

Ds2014-02-10 09:17:58
God, "The Rock" theme is one of my favorite HZ themes EVER. One of my favorite opening scenes, too. I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Mike2014-02-10 16:27:04
Oh, don't take that the wrong way: I love the Zimmer theme, too. ;)

MacArthur reply Replies: 4 || 2013-10-10 17:46:47
Hybrid are there any other scores like POTC1 where Zimmer came to a RCP guys rescue and did not get credited.

Edmund Meinerts2013-10-10 19:01:38
Off the top of my head I can think of a couple: Armageddon (he helped on the Asteroid Chase cue), Iron Man (Driving with the Top Down is his, among other things...it seems he actually did quite a lot on that one) and Transformers 2 ("Decepticons Invade/Fallen on TV" cue from the complete score).

MacArthur2013-10-10 20:03:43
Thanks Ed. I did know that he did transformers 2 (The Fallen's Arrival) and 1 question do you like the Iron man score?

Edmund Meinerts2013-10-10 22:28:49
Not a huge fan. Pretty much the only thing I like about it is the general style, but that kind of orchestral rock stuff has been done SO much better by other composers (including Brian Tyler and John Debney, although ironically not particularly in their two scores for the franchise, but rather the Fast & Furious scores for Tyler and The Scorpion King for Debney). Djawadi's is really banal and simplistic and lacks energy to me. There's some decent themes in there ("Vacation's Over") but they're really underdeveloped. I haven't heard the complete score though, so I'm basing this on the album. Hell, I think Trevor Rabin would have made a better Iron Man score than Djawadi did. :p

MacArthur2013-10-10 22:41:34
Oh Wow. I never thought Rabin was that good. although i do agree about Djawadi he's not great his Clash of the Titans score was good (at least I thought)

One quick note I was doing a download and my iPod wiped my music clean. I mean nothing left except for one song that I had just put on it. do you know what might have happened. Cause I'm Baffled.

MacArthur reply Replies: 0 || 2013-09-10 00:58:50
Did Zimmer do anything solo on this score

Mike reply Replies: 1 || 2013-08-10 18:58:57
The amount of names on In the Tunnels is insane, lol.

Mike2013-08-10 18:59:43
Though there was a track in POTC1 that had a lot more names attached.

i cant help but wonder if curse of the black pearl drew from this score :P

Mike2013-05-15 21:03:01
lol, Curse of the Black Pearl drew from a LOT of previous Zimmer scores....The Rock, Crimson Tide, Gladiator, Drop Zone, and El Dorado to name a few. ;)

El Baradei reply Replies: 4 || 2013-01-13 17:52:21
This score is still one of the best scores of all time with maybe the best action theme of all time.

The Rock and Hans Zimmer are the reasons for me to love film scores.

El Baradei2013-01-14 09:55:19
By the way, did you know: the main theme for Ed Harris' character was composed by Hans Zimmer based on ideas by him and James Newton Howard.

10 years before Batman Begins the first collaboration between Zimmer and Howard.

Hybrid Soldier2013-01-14 11:36:10
Oh there was one before that... Though not in composition.

El Baradei2013-01-14 19:14:21
Okay, and what was it?

Hybrid Soldier2013-01-14 20:50:42
Waterworld, where Hans gave JNH the MV samples library. :)

The Rock was a favor back, though from what I know I don't think JNH was involved in any way, it's more like Hans politely asked if he could copy James... haha

This soundtrack is great stuff.

But it and Crimson Tide sound a lot alike. Particularly Hummell Gets the Rockets.

I've been a big rock/heavy metal guy growing up, but more and more I see that this is true. . .but it is EXTREMELY slbtue. That's how I and many others have been deceived it seems innocent. But you research it and you realize that its roots are often evil and occult.Why did the Beatles's include Aleister Crowley on their Sgt. Peppers album?Why did Ozzy Osbourne dedicate a song to Crowley?Why did the Rolling Stones write Sympathy for the Devil ?Is ACDC's Highway to Hell really innocent?A while ago, I was happy to listen to it bobbing my head. One day I woke up. And these examples are classic examples, newer rock is often more bold in attacking truth and Jesus (band Slayer comes to mind). Can I choose to listen to that smut and have a testimony of Jesus?

Edmund Meinerts reply Replies: 2 || 2011-06-27 17:57:40
Hey, Hybrid, do you think we're ever going to get a who-composed-what detailing for this score? Seems like this is one that needs it the most (and that's saying something considering how big some of Zimmer's committees are!).

As far as I can guess, Zimmer composed the main theme and the first half of "Hummel Gets the Rockets", Gregson-Williams contributed to some of the more frenetic action cues (his ultra-kinetic percussion sound from the Tony Scott is evident in "The Chase") and Glennie-Smith did the rest, the "Jade" and "Fort Walton - Kansas" cues in particular sound like his.

But you probably know better than I do, so I'd love to hear what you know about this complicated situation. Thanks.

Oh yeah - AWESOME score. Probably the best late 90s MV action score there is!

Dakota2011-06-27 18:40:24
I second this! Or for the complete score as well

Gav2011-06-27 23:51:07
I think Don Harper is solely credited, at least in the credits, for The Chase.

This score is simply amazing- I've never seen/heard a sountrack that would fuse with the picture as well as The Rock does. Once you've seen the movie once or twice, you can actually only listen to the soundtrack and recall every single action scene accompanied by it's part of the score - you can almost follow every body move the actors make.
Simply amazing!
