For me it depends on the style of the score - they would bug me in more "lyrical" scores (like Da Vinci Code, PotC 3), but they are great when it comes to the sheer force. :)+1 <br>"Marry Me" (and every reprise/variation of the Love Theme from AwE) is a wonderful piece of music. :)<br><br>... and don't forget "Show Me Your Firetruck" or "Journey To The Line". ;)Thank God! If there's one thing that bugs me it's synth horns. I don't mind electronics if they can add to the orchestra, but I'd prefer them not to replace it.Thanks Hybrid! :) Yeah, lots of samples, but sadly there weren't any RCP-sampled french horns. Those are always epic... :-)Depends on the mood... ;)
I know!!! The way the music kind of swelled when Gordon said, "They know. It was the Batman." and you saw them uncover the statue. There were manly tears, I tell you!I agree. Even though the last minute and a half was a blatant copy of the music used in the previous movie (see "A Watchful Guardian"), I for once didn't care (I usually hate it when a whole cue is copied exactly). The entire ending scene gets my emotions going every time. Especially when I saw it in the theater.I thought all the end music (basically the entire track "Rise") was just PERFECT. One of the biggest goosebumps i've ever had in a theatre (on par with Beckett's death in PotC) :pHybrid Soldier, since you're virtually famous, what Zimmer work is your favorite? :PAnd 9:11-14:12 in "Rocket Away" from the Rock! :D
A favorite of mine that hardly anyone mentions is The Burning Bush from The Prince of Egypt. It really conveys the presence of God.I like the theme a lot, too, Ds, and it made perfect sense to use it when Batman showed up in the tunnel (my favorite part of the movie) and when he saved Blake from the thugs, but when Batman said, "This isn't a car", we had just heard it in the previous scene. And when Batman appears out of the exploding building at the end, it sounds really forced.You guys are right. These are all AMAZING themes. Moving and addictive!<br><br>I'd add "Hummel Gets The Rockets" from The Rock and "All Of Them" from King Arthur.Marry Me is my favorite Zimmer theme and cue as well. Although all of the suggestions below are also great pieces. I'll throw in the main theme from Crimson Tide as well as practically the proto power anthem. Such an influential score.Aragorn, thought the same thing while watching the movie. I think they were in deep love with that tune (and so am i), and were incessantly thinking: "Come on, this is the last Batman we do, this is the last time ever we can use this, so LET'S GO!" :p
Fort Walton - Kansas reminds me of summer cookouts or somethin' nice like that.Or "Tennessee" from Pearl Harbor.Don't forget Chevaliers De Sangreal, Now We Are Free, and The Heart of Davy Jones! ;)<br>Amen to that! "Marry Me", "Time", and "A Dark Knight" would definitely have to go on my list of "Hans Zimmer's most amazing themes ever".... i missed it :(

Well, 'Giddyup Suite', isn't that the music in track 10 on the soundtrack !(?), so that's not really unreleased .... or is it different (?) ;) (...except for the minor fade with the previous track on the soundtrack, that is)
But perhaps you didn't mean that cue specifically being unreleased... (?)

Ravi reply Replies: 0 || 2010-08-26 00:00:00
I think this is one of HZ's more underrated scores, and has some very good unreleased tracks which shows in the complete version. "Giddyup Suite" especially features some very good orchestral writing.

Anyway..I'm gonna buy this from FYE cuz its been on the shelf for like forever and Zimmer's pretty cool.

My only gripe is that people here think that Zimmer actually reads this. This isn't even his website, this is a fansite, fools. Get that into your head.

Anyway Zimmer is pretty cool for his music and others at Remote Control too.

Thank You again. put the music in my heart again.

Mark reply Replies: 0 || 2007-11-13 00:00:00
hans you are the man. this soundtrack is awesome.

1. The Simpsons theme - you have done much to this theme. you gave it alot more life. i loved your vesion of elfman's original theme

2. Trapped like Carrots - awesome. it has a very wind ensemble sound to it. I love this track one of my favorite tracks by you for all time. it is very jazzy. i lke how you play with the melody switching it between the trumpets, clarinets, flutes and then that huge low brass feature, wow!!!

3. Doomsday is Familytime - wow! this is one of the most gorgeous melodies i have ever heard. it is so beautiful. Everyone was afriad that you would have trumpets blasting and this song alone proves your genius.

4. Release the Hounds - Nice touch with the Latin rock feel. shows that you can really write all types of music. veru adventurous!

5. Clap for Alaska - then you come out with the Cathedral Chorale about The Simpsons going to Alaska. and you brought that beautiful melody from track 3 and took it a step further. i loved this track.

6. Whats an epiphany - excellent writing. you feel like your in the dream having the epiphany Homer is having even without watching the movie. This was very well written.

7. Thank you boob lady - then you come out with the military march where homer goes back to save his family. You managed to take the Simpsons theme and turn it into the war melody! Very nice work. you are a genius.

8. You doomed us all again - that beautiful melody comes back and you add even more to it, making all the more gorgeous. Then the march comes in and i see the power in what you are trying to portray here, which is the cities love for their town and Homer's for his family.

9. Lead not read - very adventurous piece. it reminds me alot of the power presented by Silvestri in back to the future, but even better. i loved this track/

10. why does everything i whip leave me - victory chorale. this track is very well put together. its alot like an olympic fanfare. i love it Hans

11. Bart's doodle - very cool piece. you can just imagine them living in a fairy tale land. and it reminds me alot of the music scores to the classic musicals. very creative writing.

12. world's fattest fertilizer salesman - very cool piece. very adventurou and tension building. it makes you want more and more as it goes along.

13. His big Fatt Butt cold sheild us all - Now you took the Simpsons theme and made it into a love theme. very cool Hans. you are definitely a mad genius. All of build in this one. it left me wanting more.

14. Spider-Pig - very dark and creative. Hans Your are a genius.

basically im telling you every track on this cd is awesome. i loved every moment of this soundtrack. i cant wait for more of your scores to come out. hans your the best composer ever!!!

Danny Elfman or Alan Silvestri would have been my first choice; their often lighthearted yet triumphant styles would suit this movie more than...say...a dozen trumpets blasting with marcato strings chopping their way through the background. But maybe Zimmer will "pull a Homer" with this one. Just don't go stealing from Holst again.

Pridelander reply Replies: 0 || 2007-08-01 00:00:00
Here's an interview with James L. Brooks himself... maybe this will be an answer to the fans' curiosity (or, anger :p)...

http://www.canmag.com/nw/8456-simpsons-movie-james-l-brooks
"Alf has a full time job on the series. Hans and I have worked on a lot of movies together. Alf has a full time job and Hans is somebody I think came through for us brilliantly. I know he spoke to Danny [Elfman] and paid all respects there."

Anyway it seems they enjoyed a lot...
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=22484

"Matt Groening: Everything in the movie is bigger. (...) The music, for the first time, you can actually be bombarded by. It's big and loud and very ambitious. Hans Zimmer did a fantastic job with the score. He's like the fifth Simpson. (laughter)

CS: How closely did you work with Hans Zimmer on that score?

Brooks: Intimately, and some of the key things that happened to our movie happened late at the sound mix. There's very little later than the sound mix. When Hans had done these little goofs privately and he played them for us at the very end of the road, we just started putting it in the body of the movie.

Jean: He's got a terrific sense of humor.

Brooks: Well, he's German. (laughter)"

...goofs?
