Hybrid, Gore also worked with Hans on "Parlay". It's one of the special features on the Blu-ray. There's a video of him - he's performing the guitar.

Hybrid Soldier reply Replies: 0 || 2011-01-10 00:00:00
Dakota, Gore just performed the guitar on that track, he didn't write anything... That cue is all HZ... ;)

And if you are curious about the Badelt / Neely themes from POTC 1 :

In "Singapore", Klaus's theme appears between 2:03 & 2:08.

The same theme appears in "I Don't Think Know Is The Best Time" between 1:55 & 2:11 and between 6:16 & 6:27.

As for Blake's theme, it appears in "I See Dead People In Boats" between 5:22 & 5:28.

All other themes you might recognize from Pirates 1 are HZ.

No one can beat me with the POTCs ! :P

Thanks!
Isn`t the theme in Up is Down (2:22 - 2:30) a variation on Klaus`s theme from PotC 1, too? :-)

This one has so many themes (and variations on the themes ... I think I even heard something like two themes playing on top of each other at the same time - in the beginning of "I Don`t Think Now is the Best Time") that some of them are hard to spot. :-)

Hybrid Soldier reply Replies: 0 || 2011-01-10 00:00:00
Well the theme is not the same, but yeah, the idea is similar... :)

As for those KB / Neely themes, it's not something I guessed, it's based on actual credits... KB & Neely do get royalties for these POTC 2 & 3 tracks !! :P

Prott reply Replies: 0 || 2011-01-10 00:00:00
Ah, I thought they were credited somehow secretly... :) but now I see they are on ASCAP too. Sorry .)

Prott reply Replies: 0 || 2011-01-09 00:00:00
Hm, interesting .. I didn`t know that Blake Neely wrote the original Jack`s theme (and Gore co-composed Hoist the Colours). It`s always great to discover something new about scores I like. :-)
Especially the love theme is simply great.

I can't believe people are still commenting on this. I have ONE thing to say: Where is our complete soundtrack? What's going to take? Perhaps hundreds, possibly thousands, of people to sign a petition...Who's with me? We need to set this in motion, somehow!

"Although i really like that score... holy crap, 7 additional music composers? Its way too much."

It's what Zimmer does these days. Write some themes, let others do rest.

Ravi Krishna reply Replies: 0 || 2009-12-08 00:00:00
And it's acceptable because the cues blend together so seamlessly.

Alex Plomp,

It's from the "Hoist The Colours Suite" on the "Remixed & Unreleased" disc (track 6, disc 4) on the Soundtrack Treasures Collection set

I have recently bought this CD.
Later, I saw this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia4gKy9-nlw) video on Youtube, and the piece at 1:40 minutes really made a huge impression on me.

Unfortunately, that piece (where the horns play 2nd voice) of music is not on the CD (also not on track 3 'at words end').

Does anybody know where the original piece of the music is available?

Thanks

Alex

Well, Zimmer is fan of Ennio Morricone, for that PARLAY is the same sound of ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST, specially "Man with the Harmonica", but this theme is played too in NED KELLY by Klaus Badelt, but with a slowly variation... Listen it with more attention... why take sounds of another composers?? I wanna listen some more original... but, Zimmer has his moments of glory, yes sir!

Enrico reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-20 00:00:00
Zimmer has said that "Parlay" was taken by Ennio morricone, so...it's all ok!!!

DemonStar reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-20 00:00:00
And the effect of those wailing guitars is super cool for that scene in the film!

So by the first movie, it was a simple melody to remain in a non-musician human's mind; now it has become a concerto. Incredible, excellent composition; I suggest put the movie aside and enjoy the music for this is absolutely more than a soundtrack.
