Having seen it, the biggest thing I realized was that I missed this kind of scoring in movies. When the HZ of the 90s-2000s left in favor of experiments, it seems no one replaced him, so this area of "big sounding scores with instantly memorable and beautiful themes" has just been abandoned. Hopefully seeing/hearing this version of The Lion King now will give some ideas to executives/directors regarding musical choices! No GITS cannot be released, it's technically not possible... That's why Lorne leaked his part of the score himself...This is great news.Maybe Balfe’s scores to Ghost in the Shell now can get released.
Over 6000 people have signed the petition for Ghost.yea, that should be enough for meIt's comforting to get a reconfirmation that it's coming.
Now we'll just have to cross our fingers that the process doesn't take months like that one other release ;)

Which one will be out first: End Credits or X-Periments? :P
yes!yes!yes!
i can't wait!!!!!!!And I can tell you Hans brought the matter to the very head of Disney Music... So that it doesn't disappear into a rubbish bin".Life's Not Fair first part is similar > Tears of the Sun - Yekeleni Part 1 lolAny idea on the name of the song from the trailer?
Honestly the biggest problem with this new version for me is the lack of new variants of the themes. They mostly just repeat verbatim Hans' original ideas with little to no innovation or changes made most of the time.

It also doesn't help that cues that did have wonderful variations such as "Nala Attacks", and "Nala & Simba" have been shortened to mostly cut them out. The worst cut being for the ending to "Mufasa's Ghost" which originally peaked the emotion with that lovely variation of Simba/The One True King theme transitioning into the Pride Rock theme, all of which is absent now.The comic con trailer for Season 3 looks excellent.

Really looking forward to next season & score.

I saw some early 1900 world. I'm just curious why there's so much dead air in the FYC tracks. Cues like "Shut it Down", "Burton Visits Prime Minister", or "Megatron has Squeeks" just have nothing to them!

No themes to speak of besides one horn blast of "Quintessa", no interesting melodies, or rhythm, just dead electronics and weak-feeling drums and strings which really doesn't fit in with the series' style. Not even the fourth movies'.Thanks Hybrid for explaining that. Makes more sense now.Yes it is because the FYC is horrible... The OST is what Steve & co wrote. The FYC is what came out of the Music Editing Factory, which I don't dig at all. Lots of micro edits & transformations Steve probably didn't even hear... lol

Real final mixes would look like the OST, not like the FYC...You gotta realize one thing, this score is US recorded so every new 15 min of score you release, you gotta pay back reuse fees. Okay, so doing the same stuff that Hybrid does is illegal here now. Cool

Anonymous2019-04-17 18:50:20
Also calling jumanji (the one jackman scored) anything but a good film - is also illegal and gets your comment removed

Hybrid Soldier2019-04-18 08:12:41
Having an opinion is one thing. Not being intellectually able to express it without being rude & stupid is another thing. Once you find a way to combine the two, your comments will stay.

And Knight, just don't push it.

Knight2019-04-18 08:20:41
Excuse me for doing the thing you didn't bother to do.

Says the guy who took his intel from... me...

Knight2019-04-18 16:56:40
You did it for the complete, which is "illegal" and only available in certain circles, not the OST which is commercially available. I simply did what you could have done yourself easily but chose not to.

i realized going back to this score how well the alternate theme worked with the main theme! when listening, my mind is always eager to hear the other theme return. they kind of complete each other. truly some master stuff here. i wish someone more knowledgeable would do an in-depth analysis of this score. thematic scores don't seem to be the thing nowadays but wow, the more i know how these things are made, the more i can appreciate the work.

Mr Tweedy2019-01-30 02:14:51
Well, when you speak about the "alternate" theme, I guess you're talking about the one heard in the first few seconds of Roll Tide.
This is Hunter's 's theme (Denzel Washington's). You can hear it on guitar in Mutiny or several times in a more "action" shape on 1SQ.
Than you have Ramsey's theme (Gene Hackman's), heard around 8:15 in Mutiny, several times in a more heavy fashion on Alabama's second half, and quieter during Roll Tide's second half.

The main theme, the one everyone knows, symbolizes the submarine as well as the mission itself. It's made of two parts : a long, drama, orchestra progression, and the other one, vibrant and triumphant.

The alternating two-notes theme (primarily heard on choir but also sporadically on strings) usually evokes the nukes / war.

The opening of Mutiny, the very slow progression usually serves as another nuclear threat idea that is reprised here and there.

It's a different choir...

I having an opinion that: Zimmer, Scott and Crimson Tide
should be a combo for an epic movie. Because an epic score,
dramatic song (Mutiny and Roll Tide (I add "Mutiny" because
there's a "Roll Tide" section on 5'24, i think. Without hit)). I like you very much. You're my inspiration. I'm from Thailand. I signed into the school's band. I played an

like this.

With regards to the "complete score" that is going round. I did a little write up on it:

This 2CD is a bit of a con. Yes it has clean, unreleased music, but it is not complete (some small cues missing). Furthermore, it has a lot of repeated music.

RUNNING TIME AS IS: 98 mins approx

1/1. RUSSIAN CIVIL WAR
Unreleased - the main titles

1/2. MUTINY
As per the OST; the last 1:47 should come later

1/3. ALABAMA (FILM VERSION)
Partially unreleased - sounds like the first 2:28 of Alabama on the OST but this does not cut-off and is mixed slightly differently.

1/4. LITTLE DUCKS
As per the OST

1/5. DEFCON
Unreleased - Hunter's war speech

1/6. THE ENEMY IS WAR
Unreleased - The fire

1/7. RANGE AND SPEED
Unreleased commercially but available on a rare Nick Glennie Smith promo

1/8. ZULU TIME
Unreleased - the second Akula attack

1/9. AUTHENTICATION
Unreleased - Hunter getting the phone call to go to work

1/10. ALABAMA
As per the OST, plus the first 2:28 is already heard on CD1/3 of the CD!

2/1. ZERO BUBBLE
The last 9:49 of Alabama from the OST - another repeat of music heard in CD1/10!!!

2/2. 1SQ
As per the OST

2/3. THE ARMORY
Unreleased commercially but available on a rare Nick Glennie Smith promo. The title here is incorrect.

2/4. TORPEDOS
Unreleased - the first Akula attack

2/5. PEARL HARBOR
Unreleased - this is an alternate cue and not the actual courtoom music

2/6. ROLL TIDE
From the OST.

The correct, approximate running order would be as follows:

RUNNING TIME WITHOUT REPEATED MUSIC: 86 mins approx

1/1
1/9
1/2 (minus the last 1:47 or so)
1/4
1/5
1/6
1/2 (the last 1:47 or so)
1/3
1/10 (8:22 to 14:03)
1/7
2/4
1/8
1/10 (2:28 to 8:22)
2/1 (or the last 9:49 of 1/10!)
2/2
2/3
2/6
2/5

In closing, there IS a complete score (with no repeated music and the missing small cues) that lasts around 89 mins.
You may be able to get it if you look around.

Per2011-08-26 19:04:13
I doubt there is a real, full, complete score available. Outside Zimmer etc.'s "vault", that is.

If there is any it's probably still just a combination of the OST (perhaps with edited/splitted tracks) and these unreleased cues. And of course the cue 13M21 from the Dirty Pictures submission disc, which was, strangely enough, not on this "expanded" version.

Dawn2011-08-27 01:56:06
@Takehiro
You're wrong about 2/5 "Pearl Harbor", it is part of the Court of Inquiry sequence, but only used in the director's cut version of the film.
That cue is used during an extended part where Hunter is waiting and thinking in the corridor.

The right track order is :
2/5 (from 2011 expanded edition)
13M21 (from NGS's dirty pictures)
2/6 (from 2011 expanded edition)

Anonymous2011-08-27 03:52:12
@Per: with this expanded and NGS' cues, its pretty much complete

Per2011-08-27 15:40:24
Maybe the 'Pearl Harbor' cue were meant to fit the extended scene where Hunter sits in the corridor waiting originally. But it's not that music that's played during that scene. I don't know if it's a new/unreleased cue, but it could might as well be just something that's been reused from somewhere else. (It's very similar to for instance 11'27 - 11'50 on track 2, Alabama on the CD.)

If you combine the OST with all the available unreleased cues, it is indeed very close to being complete. It's mainly missing a short piece where Hunter is doing some boxing or whatever, and of course the full non-cutted/edited cues of some of the stuff on the OST. Not that important, since unlike other Zimmer CDs, it actually doesn't seem to have cutted pieces in the middle of cues. Maybe. It's mostly just the very end etc. of some cues that's been cutted, and faded into other cues.

We have great musician such as Harry Gregson-Williams, Klaus Badelt, John Powell and young talents such as Steve Jablonsky and Ramin Djawadi, thanks to Zimmer's teachings. He revolutioned and changed the film score genre and I think it was necessary. Who said John Williams is the best? No way!

1. RUSSIAN CIVIL WAR
2. MUTINY
3. ALABAMA (Film Edit)
4. LITTLE DUCKS
5. DEFCON
6. THE ENEMY IS WAR

4. TORPEDOS
5. PEARL HARBOR
6. ROLL TIDE

It looks like a fake to me but you never know...

Bondo2011-05-08 09:10:34
It's not a fake :D
I can confirm it's expanded but without the DVD handy, I can't say if it's complete or not. It DOES however contain the much sought-after Torpedo Attack scene (08 - Zulu Time)

Anonymous2011-05-08 09:59:12
Its expanded. Even without the DVD I know from playing it.

Bondo2011-05-09 06:52:01
FYI I can confirm that "Range and Speed" and "The Armory" are from Nick Glennie-Smith's Dirty Pictures promo, possibly the other 2 tracks as well; I'll have to check. And I'm in no way 100% certain, but "Zulu Time" sounds remarkably like "Rocket Away" from THE ROCK. Any thoughts?

Gavin Salkeld - Composer2011-05-09 21:26:24
Its definitely not from The Rock lol. The Pearl Harbor cue is also from a NGS promo, I have so many I forget which one.

Bondo2011-05-09 22:45:36
I know it's not FROM The Rock, but the samples and style are. I never realized just how similar the two scores were until I heard these extra CT tracks

Anonymous2011-05-09 23:58:58
Zimmer used those same samples for years!

Bondo2011-05-10 00:04:10
Not the ones I'm talking about; remember this was 1995. We know which tracks Nick Glennie-Smith contributed to Zimmer scores prior (Point of No Return, Beyond Rangoon, Drop Zone), so you can hear which samples HE used for CT and The Rock.

HZLeaks2011-05-10 02:03:18
Everyone at MV shared samples, especially in the early days. Some of them even cropped up as late as 2003 in POTC lol

Anyway the 2CD here isnt complete, I have some extra clean cues Im going to put into it to make it more complete

Bondo2011-05-10 02:32:16
Thanks for sharing, that'd be awesome to hear! Perhaps I wasn't clear earlier... what I was trying to say is that since Hybrid was kind enough to break down THE ROCK several years back as to who-scored-which-cues (on the forum), several of the new Crimson Tide cues (Range and Speed, Zulu Time) sound more like NG-S and less like Zimmer. There were certain samples, especially in the 1990s, that NG-S used quite often. I may or may not be right about these 2 tracks, it's just an educated guess.
