Most of the album is comprised of suites, with one consistent tempo per track. <br><br>The material that was scored to picture was scored using the risset rhythm technique, which gave a lot of those tracks their "infinitely getting faster" feeling in the film, so the tempo is always climbing in the film versions. The suites have a stable tempo (except for a couple normal tempo changes, which are different)Not really any... "Nothing Out There" contains the sad piano theme from Begins and Dark Knight, but otherwise the themes that get reprised are pretty much Hans stuff. <br><br>Speaking of credits, any chance the complete score page could be updated with what's out there and official?Could somebody tell me in what cues JNH's themes appear on album?Thanks MIKE, Any ideas of how can I Google it?Yeah, that cue was either a last minute rewrite or one of the music editors did it.... If you've listened through the score, you've basically heard the unreleased stuff.@Mike<br>Zimmer has said in interviews that he “mapped out” the film with one long piece of music to establish the changing tempo of the story, and apparently the script was written to capture the rhythmic feel of the film. So from the very beginning the story was always split up between the three.<br><br>I think a big part of the initial disappointment with the score was the album presentation, which gives off the impression that the music is just some sound design that Zimmer threw together (this is how I personally felt when I first gave it a listen). In actuality it’s a technically impressive score, I really can’t think of any other film score that is so synchronized with a film’s tempo and flows as one long piece of music. Apparently it was a nightmare for Hans, especially when the smallest edits to the film would ruin the flow.<br><br>Doing the 59-minute album was a pretty big disservice to the whole purpose of the music. If you remove one piece the whole thing falls apart, which is part of the reason the album feels so disjointed.
Anyone here listened "The Predator" FYC score? <br>Any chance to compare tracklist and running time with official release?These versions suites haven't been officially released, but maybe you can find them somewhere around the Internet unofficially.<br><br>As for the Cat Suite, the most important parts of it can be found in "Selina Kyle" (it's a shortened version of it actually) and "Mind if I cut in?" from the OST. For example, the is a sound in The Mole (At 2:05) that sounds like a fuse being ignited. This sound is actually right after The Tide in the film.<br>The only tracks that are almost identical to the film are: The Tide, Variation 15 and End Credits, the rest is different. <br><br>So if you were to order the tracks as first heard in the film it would be: <br>The Mole <br>Regimental Brothers <br>We Need Our Army Back<br>Shivering Soldier <br>Supermarine <br>Impluse <br>The Tide <br>Home <br>The Oil<br>Variation 15<br>End credits<br><br>As much as I enjoyed listening to this release, I wish they didn't butcher the score the way they did. I like the suites but there are so many great cues in this film that weren't released. If only they released an isolated score track on Blu-ray. Listening to film extracts is just not enough.I noticed that as well — the ticking goes all through the movie, except for the boat scenes, and only stops when they get on the train. <br><br>I wonder...could the film have originally been shot so that the beach, sea, and air sequences were there own arcs, and the longer album tracks were written for that? And then Nolan went in and turned the movie into the frenetic, constantly cutting-back-and-forth final product? <br><br>While the album is fine, I personally don't understand why we couldn't have just gotten the film cues. They might have had to stitch several together for each track, but it could have worked.
Does anyone know where you can get a digital version of the Japanese versions 2 bonus tracks?Comparing it to YFM’s sfx edit this is what I’ve got;<br><br>“The Mole” seems to be an alternate of the opening sequence. The first minute or so is used, while the rest isn’t. “We Need Our Army Back/Regimental Brothers” are both made up of several cues from different points in the film. <br>“Home” is completely different in the film, which makes me think it may have been recorded specifically for the album. Similar situation with “Oil”. <br>“Supermarine” is definitely a suite. The rest is chronological.<br><br>Interesting thing to note, it seems like a lot of the tempo changes/ticking effects/bass overlays were removed from the album release, making almost every track sound different from the actual film versions. The music in context has a constant pulse going, especially in the way cues segue into each other and change tempo.It's not really possible to chronologically order the album because the album doesn't use the same tracks as the movie. Plus, the album is more or less chronological anyway, given the areas where they are the same.<br>With the complete cue sheet out now. i realized going back to this score how well the alternate theme worked with the main theme! when listening, my mind is always eager to hear the other theme return. they kind of complete each other. truly some master stuff here. i wish someone more knowledgeable would do an in-depth analysis of this score. thematic scores don't seem to be the thing nowadays but wow, the more i know how these things are made, the more i can appreciate the work.

Well, when you speak about the "alternate" theme, I guess you're talking about the one heard in the first few seconds of Roll Tide.
This is Hunter's 's theme (Denzel Washington's). You can hear it on guitar in Mutiny or several times in a more "action" shape on 1SQ.
Than you have Ramsey's theme (Gene Hackman's), heard around 8:15 in Mutiny, several times in a more heavy fashion on Alabama's second half, and quieter during Roll Tide's second half.

The main theme, the one everyone knows, symbolizes the submarine as well as the mission itself. It's made of two parts : a long, drama, orchestra progression, and the other one, vibrant and triumphant.

The alternating two-notes theme (primarily heard on choir but also sporadically on strings) usually evokes the nukes / war.

The opening of Mutiny, the very slow progression usually serves as another nuclear threat idea that is reprised here and there.

I don't remember (I believe it was an interview with Zimmer). Apparently Spielberg called him on the phone after seeing the movie and said it was a great score. lol.

I having an opinion that: Zimmer, Scott and Crimson Tide
should be a combo for an epic movie. Because an epic score,
dramatic song (Mutiny and Roll Tide (I add "Mutiny" because

This 2CD is a bit of a con. Yes it has clean, unreleased music, but it is not complete (some small cues missing). Furthermore, it has a lot of repeated music.

I doubt there is a real, full, complete score available. Outside Zimmer etc.'s "vault", that is.

If there is any it's probably still just a combination of the OST (perhaps with edited/splitted tracks) and these unreleased cues. And of course the cue 13M21 from the Dirty Pictures submission disc, which was, strangely enough, not on this "expanded" version.

You're wrong about 2/5 "Pearl Harbor", it is part of the Court of Inquiry sequence, but only used in the director's cut version of the film.
That cue is used during an extended part where Hunter is waiting and thinking in the corridor.

The right track order is :

Maybe the 'Pearl Harbor' cue were meant to fit the extended scene where Hunter sits in the corridor waiting originally. But it's not that music that's played during that scene. I don't know if it's a new/unreleased cue, but it could might as well be just something that's been reused from somewhere else. (It's very similar to for instance 11'27 - 11'50 on track 2, Alabama on the CD.)

If you combine the OST with all the available unreleased cues, it is indeed very close to being complete. It's mainly missing a short piece where Hunter is doing some boxing or whatever, and of course the full non-cutted/edited cues of some of the stuff on the OST. Not that important, since unlike other Zimmer CDs, it actually doesn't seem to have cutted pieces in the middle of cues. Maybe. It's mostly just the very end etc. of some cues that's been cutted, and faded into other cues.

We have Harry Gregson-Williams in the choir direction, Nick Glennie-Smith, Bruce Fowler as the orchestrator and Alan Meyerson in the mixes. This soundtrack has all!

We have great musician such as Harry Gregson-Williams, Klaus Badelt, John Powell and young talents such as Steve Jablonsky and Ramin Djawadi, thanks to Zimmer's teachings. He revolutioned and changed the film score genre and I think it was necessary. Who said John Williams is the best? No way!

Zimmer is the best!

FYI I can confirm that "Range and Speed" and "The Armory" are from Nick Glennie-Smith's Dirty Pictures promo, possibly the other 2 tracks as well; I'll have to check. And I'm in no way 100% certain, but "Zulu Time" sounds remarkably like "Rocket Away" from THE ROCK. Any thoughts?

Thanks for sharing, that'd be awesome to hear! Perhaps I wasn't clear earlier... what I was trying to say is that since Hybrid was kind enough to break down THE ROCK several years back as to who-scored-which-cues (on the forum), several of the new Crimson Tide cues (Range and Speed, Zulu Time) sound more like NG-S and less like Zimmer. There were certain samples, especially in the 1990s, that NG-S used quite often. I may or may not be right about these 2 tracks, it's just an educated guess.

You can't find this music. It's unreleased. Some good parts of the score are still missing.
Like "Fire Incident"(beginning)- When Denzel Washington practices boxe after the "Fire Incident", some choral parts which ponctue the submarine scenes, "The First Torpedo Attack" and some action/thriller cues composed by Nick- Glennie Smith (on his promo "Showreel).
