Maybe the different time lengths is due to tracks slightly overlapping each other (as in many HZ soundtrack releases)?Comparing the track times listed here, it seems (at first glance) that many of the tracks are edited down from the complete cues as heard on the bootleg. Could the listed track times be simply incorrect, or have edits been made to make the score fit onto four sides? I guess we can find out when the record ships in July.

Additionally, for those without a record player it sucks that a CD release was not possible for La-La Land. Whatever the reasons are for that, it's a bizarre situation that one independent label can release the same material on vinyl but another cannot on CD. Quite perplexing...@Hybrid, will you make the Scoob Page?Perhaps "The Cistern (Alternate)" is the album version. The music I heard in the film is not 100% the same with the track I heard in the OST.Dang I cant wait to hear the Alternate 'Cistern' cue
Vinyl only...How dumb can you getLol, you’re right! I though that was Rambo III climbing the cliffs for a moment.LLL made MI 1 Complete. So they are trying to make MI 2 Complete. That could move Varese to make MI 3 Complete. But studio (Disney) don't want it.Use the Wayback Machine on Archive.org - it's all there! :)@Zimson
404 not found dude
Why would a studio allow a vinyl release but no CD or digital release? That's utter nonsense. Almost like they're refusing to make money.Any clue on where to find this Complete Score?.. and people wonder why there's "bootlegs" out there...Next time, we can expect a wax cylinder release... :(@Jerry

At the Film Score Monthly message board, MV said that La La Land has been trying to release this one for years but got shot down by the studio. So sadly, a CD release won't happen for now
No.Any chance of a CD or Digital release?Yes, is coming this Friday, confirmed by TomI really like this score performed by tom holkenborg of the netflix series "White Lines" and my favorite track is "Infinity" which it was awsome and great dance music i ever heard.

Btw are any news from the Scoob! Original score by tom holkenborg coming out this friday, right?Time to buy a record player guys!

Honestly couldn't be more happy about this.

Collin, if you like X3 I'd recommend Klaus Badelt's music (particularly The Time Machine & The Promise) and of course, pretty much anything by Hans Zimmer. Start with Gladiator for example, or the score tracks on The Lion King. Also some of John Powell's music is similar to what he wrote for X3, though not quite as epic...Ice Age: The Meltdown is similar but more on the happy side rather than the dark side...

I'm not sure but I am probibly the youngest person at 17 to sumbit a comment but I was amazed by this soundtrack entirely. I like alot of instrumental pieces but the soundtrack itself I believe embodied the whole x-men movie perfectly. The intenesity of the music rift in Gene's house I thought was amazing, and the topper the final battle seen music was mind-numbingly BEA-utiful. I am just begining to apreciate the instrumental music genre so If anyone can help me out and tell me of some more great composers and tracks I probibly will be seen submitting more in the future.

I don's own this soundtrack yet by I will be purchasing this, however I will be purchasing it asap.

I just saw the movie Saturday and i went in very skeptcal I heard bad things about it from peeps on XBOXlive so i was like ok let me see for myself and i was very speechless the sound from what i heard was very very good i loved the music when Xavier was getting flame boiled but i tell my friends and now i can tell the worldwide web dont expect comic book movies to be in part like the comic books u will be very dissappointed but after i saw this movie i saw that it was just a story based on the peeps in the comic so i understood why it took a diffrent path and to me that makes it better.

** a little spoiler inside **

Hi there dear Score-Lovers,

I saw X3 and hear the score. I think X2 (film) is better, cause it takes his time to develope. But the score is bombastic + epic. "Phoenix rises" is the best part and cue. And I hope there will be more episodes (part 4, part 5) with more epical music.
Hope Mystique, Jean Grey and Xavier came back in part 4.

@Nautilus: Yes, the intro is very different. His best score since Face/Off (my opinion).

Dark I saw X3.My thoughts:

the film it's very irregular.the rythm in the first half is bad.But all the action in "alcatraz" is great and epic.

The same thing about the music.Is mixed very low in the first half of the movie,but it gets better in the second half. Alcatraz attack, Phonix rises and the last stand sounds very good and powerfull in the movie (even with the fx sounds).

Some cues are diferent in the movie than in the soundtrack.Specially the main title music.The main titles music is very diferent in the movie.It sounds more powell than in the cd.Longer and with more percusive elements and more powell strings.I WANT THIS VERSION!!!

Great job by powell with so uninspired material

the main theme heard in the beginning of the movie (SPOILERS : after the flashbacks sequences) is different than the one on the cd ("bathroom title")

Dark.The main theme after the flashback sounds like what?

Dark reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-25 00:00:00
well nautilus , how to say : seems longer , more aggressive in percussions and different in the melody even if it keeps the same structure
be careful to have a first cd listening then watch the movie you will see.

ZED reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-25 00:00:00
Hmmm.... This score the more i listen to it annoys me more and more. There's just a lack of theme apart from Pheonix's theme and though the score is loud, its not that exciting or memorable. I'm a big fan of Powell but i was a tad let down by this score. The power is there, but not the themes. I'm just not a fan of loud action music that has no theme in it, just loud bursts from brass and strings with no direction does nothing for my enjoyment. Definelty the best X-Men score though. :)

Dark reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-25 00:00:00
by the way , i got an anser for varese and yes the track 26 on back cover has an error of running time ; so the first cd's are collectors! lol

Nautilus reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-25 00:00:00
I have "burned" My x3 cd.so I will see the diference..
but I mean....it's diferent but still is powell's heroic march theme.Isn't it????

is the music well mixed?im curious about if Whirpool of love have a stellar moment in the movie?

thanks!

Zimmerito reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-25 00:00:00
Zed then you must stop to play this cd :P
Are you the same ZED from the moviemusic.com forum?

X3 is the second best powell score!!!!

Dark reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-25 00:00:00
nautilus : ah ah yes for "whirlpool of love" , a moment you won't forget ;)
and yeah it still the heroic powell theme but the melody is a little different and the instrumentations too.
give me your opinion after seeing the movie:)

Michael reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-25 00:00:00
I think that John Ottman should listen to this score before he ruins Superman Returns completely. :)

This is definitely the best score this year, but I still hope that Zimmer will compose a better score for PotC2.

The Phoenix theme in both tracks is just great, it works in the movie sooooooo well I think it's longer in the movie.

Great work by John Powell but I couldn't catch the X-Men theme is it the one in the 2nd track.

Dark reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-24 00:00:00
for those who owned the cd album , have you noticed that the back cover contains an error? :
track 26 phoenix rise is credited with a runin time of 6:30
and the cue is only 4:20 long.

"dark phoenix tragedy" : best track of the year at this time for me : the phoenix theme is just dramatic as hell!

Rogue reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-22 00:00:00
Its a great score with very impressive choral segments, although im not sure about all the separate tracks when they blend effortlessly into each other.
This score works best as a whole and the main theme is fantastic. It almost seems as though the music X-Men always should have had.
I own Kamen's and Ottman's scores but Kamen's theme wasn't too good and Ottmans wasn't dramatic enough.
John Powell = Problem Solved.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG

I love this score :D

"Dark Phoenix's Tragedy" is an amazing track, truly awesome chorals.

Not sure why Powell's CDs always have strings of tracks that lead into each other though... especially when the next track is only 30 seconds long. Would it be so hard to merge them together?

"Phoenix Rises" is the most epic cue Powell has ever written, I can't wait to see how it looks on screen :D

Nautilus reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-21 00:00:00
I has heard the whole score.
And Some days listening it I think it's one of the most greats superheroes scores since batman.
A lot better than Spiderman1/2 and One of the powell's bests scores(with Paycheck, Supremacy, Mr smith and Robots)

James reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-20 00:00:00
I love the fact that everyone here is complaining like a bunch of scared hens over an album none of them actually have yet.

Were you all born way - or do you have to take pills in the morning to be these dense?

I agree wih Feared and Zimmerian... good but not so good!
Alfred I know you (remember about me?)... You love Golden and Silver Age... and composers who make all (or a lot of) work alone (composition, orchestration, condction etc...)... So I understand what you say...
Anyway, Powell is not so bad... maybe in the future you'll like him more... for now... the big composers are others... (Williams, Newton-Howard, Beltrami, Silvestri, etc...) ;-)

Zimmerian reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-18 00:00:00
I think I'm with Feared on this one. It's a good score but not that good to blow you away.

It's a good score, but not as good as Ottman's X2.
Track 26 is 4:21 not 6:29
10/7

Nautilus reply Replies: 0 || 2006-05-16 00:00:00
A very good score.
But the first half (as Ice age 2) is too weak.And the second half is too loud.
It's not so "powellish" like I was hoped.Sadly.
3 stars.

From the sample clips, these sound like amazing scores. I love the xmen films and I think this is going to be the best.
