you fool.... its impossible ! everybody knows that there is only one batman theme.... (joke)In a recent interview, Junkie mentioned that he's bringing back themes for Superman and Wonder Woman, while everything else is new. I wonder if he's gonna make a new Batman theme. It's true, there is completely different team from composer to director in crossover :)But the film was particularly bad...<br><br>So I rather have a whole other team do something ELSE lol...Yeah... McCreary's score is one of the best from last year so I'd rather have him again.
I open to ANY composer in this movies.<br><br>To answer the question, YES, i'm ready<br><br>Specially to a guy, who loves G14, KSi and KOTMNo way. Will any tracks from Man of Steel be played on the Live2021 tour? It is a life ambition of mine to experience a live performance of it!I missed Jasha Klebe. I'm looking forward to this and I hope it's close to what Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice sounded like. Although, the snippet he shared doesn't really sound like it. We'll see. That´s why I asked myself, why dont they ever re-unite like before, so yea, they sometimes doInterestingly, Aljoscha is collaborating a lot with 2WEI these days. The Junkie Team reassembles ! lol

I love this song and wish it was available in Sheet Music for Choir with instruments and/or piano. Any plans on publishing this in sheet music form? I've looked and haven't been able to find it.

I’m still looking for piano sheet music for this. Anybody have a suggestion?

Just posted on the Hans Zimmer forum, where you've put the choir part as:-

"Up on the knees of a soldier
made of parts of wood, with wind in your hair"

It's definitely

"Up on the knees of a sergeant-major
Ride through the woods with the wind in your hair"

the lipsyncing wasn't matched very well on the youtube video but if you slow down the song/listen a few times to that specific part then the above is correct :)

Parradoxx2015-05-09 09:45:50
Late comer to the chat, but I believe it's actually
"Hop on the knees of the sergeant, make him
Ride to the wood with the wind in your hair"

I may be wrong. Hear what makes you happy, for it is undeniably brilliant!

Anyone interested in a longer expanded score? One may exist that I know of.

I would love this. I would like to set up a performance for choir and synths (hopefully adding handbells, harp and percussion.)

Yes! Yes! Yes! Did I mention YES?

it sounds like Seal singing on part of the tune. is it?

Treguard reply Replies: 0 || 2009-04-25 00:00:00
Weird. Had another listen to thisand it sounds more like "Ride through the woods....." and not "Riding" if you pitch it down in some audio software.

Thanks Jerusha & Treguard for your feedbacks on lyrics! I'll listen again to this amazing song later :)

btw forgot to add, the one with parts of wood only has 18 notes whereas there are 20 in the song. Sorry re below, that's with regards to the version in the end credits. The next line is correct and number of notes/syllables matches up. :)

brilliant music for a brilliant film. soundtracks like this don't have an expiration date. They're in my mp3 player year round. the music evokes great sentimentality, as well as the voices. I'm really curious who wrote the lyrics. was it inspired by levinson?

'Toys' is one of my all-time favorite soundtracks, and for obvious reasons it spends a lot of time in my CD player around this time of year.

I have no idea why, but the version of 'Closing of the Year' at the end of the album always brings tears to my eyes, especially Seal's solo - the way his voice soars and the arrangement backs him up. For the longest time though I've wondered about his lyrics - I'm only able to make out a few words here & there - and none of the other lyrics sites includes his verse.

Thank you for including them (or at least your best guess) here; they're every bit as beautiful as the rest of the song... and best wishes and love to all of us at the closing of this year.

An update on lyrics...
So I rented the movie "Toys" and watched it with subtitles. This is what the subtitles say. The only part not subtitled, of course, was the kids' chorus; also I starred the couple parts where the subtitles didn't seem to match what I was hearing - no "s" on misfortune, and no use of the word "so" at all in the second verse. Here's a direct copy of the subtitles:

If I cannot bring you comfort,
then at least I bring you hope
For nothing is more precious than the time we have, and so
We all must learn from small misfortunes*
Count the blessings that are real
Let the bells ring out for Christmas
At the closing of the year

Now all the winter bells are ringing
Hear them echo through the snow
And the children's voices singing
On the streets so far below
So* this is a time to be together
And the truth is somewhere here
We give our love for people
At the closing of the year

We'll walk in a sun
With all of the faith
And all of the patience
All of the way
With all of us right, and all of us saying
No one an island
We'll fly in the arms of time
Walk in the waves, never fall, don't fall
At the closing of the year

Although the subtitles skipped this, between the soundtrack and video for the movie, it seems like the kids are singing this:
Up on the knees of a soldier made of parts of wood with the wind in your hair,
Silver bells on a stolen reindeer as we race to the castle over there

Next, I checked out Youtube's posted videos of Sarah Brightman/Placido Domingo singing this, as well as someone's street recording of the Disneyland Carolers, both live.
Most of the lyrics match up, except for these:

In both cases, it sounds as though the kids' chorus part is singing this:
Up on the knees of a sergeant major, ride through the woods with the wind in your hair,
Sleigh bells ring on a stolen reindeer as we race to the castle over there

The carolers don't do Seal's solo, but Placido Domingo does and it sounds like this:
We will walk in the sand
With all of the pain
And all of the patience
All of the way
With all of us right
And all of us saying
No one an island (poor guy mispronounces it iss-land)
We'll fly in the arms of time
Walking the way's never far, not far (at least, I hear a clear "r" pronounced in there.)

Best of luck picking which to sing along with! :)

It's great to finally know what the kids are singing right after the intro! Thanks so much for the lyrics. It helped clarify a few points on Seal's solo, too; although I think he says something slightly different (and it makes more sense to me this way) right at the end:
instead of "Walk in the waves, never fall, don't fall"
it sounds to me like he's singing "Walking, the way's never far, not far"
Anyway, thanks for all the good lyrics.

Currently it's difficult to buy this single, but ZTT Records' MySpace has full song of "Closing Of The Year."

And here's the lyrics. It was mostly completed thanks to the forum members :)

THE CLOSING OF THE YEAR
(Written by Trevor Horn and Hans Zimmer)

If I cannot bring you comfort
then at least I bring you hope
For nothing is more precious
than the time we have and so

We all must learn from small misfortunes
count the blessings that are real
Let the bells ring out for Christmas
at the closing of the year
Let the bells ring out for Christmas
at the closing of the year

(Children chorus)
Up on the knees of a soldier
made of parts of wood, with wind in your hair
Silver bells on a stolen reindeer
as we race to the castle over there

If I cannot bring you comfort
then at least I bring you hope

Now all the winter bells are ringing
hear them echo through the snow
And the children's voices singing
on the streets so far below

This is a time to be together
and the truth is somewhere here
Within our love for people
at the closing of the year

(Seal's solo)
We'll walk innocent
with all of the pain
and all of the patience
and all of the way
and all of us right
and all of us say
Love one another
We'll fly in the arms of time
walk in the waves, never fall
Don't fall
(at the closing of the year)
at the closing of the year

If I cannot bring you comfort
then at least I bring you hope

Then at least I bring you hope

I'll never be back to THIS site again!

After i heard you fromthe soundack 'Waking Ned Devine' i had to find out more about Zimmer. when I listened to 'The Closing Of The Year' I couldnt stop listening to it. It became my girlfriends favorite pieces of music. If at all possible, the next time you get to do a serious movie with a god moral lesson to learnm from maybe you can do something theat closely relates to that song, or redo the song. What ever you do ,don't stop making music. It is what moves the world.
