My best movie... plenty of emotions, colors and heat ! I've been living in africa while young (3 month till 9 years), and I can feel Africa with this movie like anyother one !
In The Lion King, African lyrics on the score (and background chorus/vocals in the songs) are not Swahili. Since Lebo M (who worked with Hans Zimmer) is from South Africa, lyrics are South African languages - isiZulu, Sesotho, Setswana. I learned about these things from this website: http://www.lionking.org/~taabani/ It has a lot of interesting information about languages in TLK. :)
But most of the character's name and some words ("Hakuna Matata" and Rafiki's "Asante sana" song) are Swahili.
So, I think lyrics on The Power of One score is also South African languages.
Hi...I'm wondering if the lyrics, at least some of them, are not Swahili? Especially since as someone noted, the producer worked with the producer of Lion King, which definitely contains Swahili. Thoughts?
Absolutely WONDERFUL soundtrack, the music is hauntingly beautiful. Lebo M's vocals go hand-inhand with Hans' music. Now to answer some questions I've noticed. Unfortunately, there are NO lyrics to this soundtrack availible. As to the language, its more than likely Zulu or Tswana or possibly Sotho (Lebo M speaks quite a few languages of South Africa, those are the three I know of).
we have been captured by the sense of unity in the southland concerto and are incorporating into our wedding but struggle to fine lyrics.... can anyone advise wher to find?
Can someone tell me the name of the song used in the commercial "the power of one" which was aired in 1993 by Earth Communications Office http://www.oneearth.org/.
The music was produced by Hans Zimmer, and I am guessing it is from this CD, but I dont know.
You can view the commercial on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_Twc1jURn4
Hello everybody and sorry for my english!!! I watched "the power of one" (in italian obvously) and I think that's a spectacular movie. It makes me wonder about how to spend my life and how to react against our fears and unsureness. I am looking for the lyrics of the soundtrack and I'd like to understand the meanings of that song. My e-mail address is unworthy_84@yahoo.it. If anybody could help me to find something about this I would be so happy. Thank you
I HAVE NEVER SEEN AND WILL NEVER SEE A MOVIE SO WELL MADE LIKE "the power of one".IT TEACHES US ABOUT LIFE........... DONT FORGET WE ARE ALL EQUAL!!! and TO BE BRAVE WITH BAD MOMENTS. love you all. CARO WONKA
Please help me! I really need the lyrics to the song "The Rainmaker" We are going to sing it in school but nobody seems to know the lyrics please help us out Thnx!!!!!!!!!
regarding the lyris to the southland concerto, just before the Boar prison guard beats morgan freeman to death, he asks freeman to tell him what they are singing, and freeman's answer is something like, "we will never bow, give them what they want, they are pigs, we will live on." that's just my very tired brain paraphrasing. best to watch the movie again and listen for that part. the part where everybody cries.
Has anyone else ever noticed that Hans Zimmer and Lebo M worked together for the theatre production of Disney's The Lion King as well? And not only that, but they sampled the women's choral part from Power of One's 'Woza Mfana' in The Lion King's 'The Lioness Hunt'? Clever, but it didn't slip past me!!!!
If you've watched the film you will know the lyrics to the Southland concerto - Peekay wasen't lying you know! 'They run this way, they run that way, etc, etc.'
The film is highly enjoyable and moving - in fact I based 6 months of my life on it and moved to Johannesburg. Sorry folks, SA is nothing like the film these days - Apartheid has ended but inequality and crime remain rampant.
Possibly the most uplifting... exposing... hmmm... the best story ever told? The book(s, with Tandia), the movie, the soundtrack... I just can't stop reliving them, and intigrating the messages into my life.
We are Australian/Kiwis..My husband and I are currently reading The Power of One and we are totally engulfed in the magical storytelling of Bryce Courtney. We now wish to have the soundtrack of the music composed by "Doc" and sung by the "different tribes" incarcerated in the prison where Doc was, for the length of the war. The downunders
just want to say what a beautifull film this is "the power of one" it is one of my favourites...... i love the soundtrack and every little thing about it. this film really touched me, it makes me cry every time i watch it....this goes to any film that has to do with black slavery....i can watch this film and not get sick of it.......thats how much i love it as well as other films that has to do with black slavery......
I have been listening to this soundtrack for years, and it still gives me chills. For those of you who can't find the CD, Lebo M. has a number of tracks on his website for download
