Thanks Edmund.<br><br>@PaulH I am not meaning to say that Balfe cannot compose good music. There are compositions that I like: the Picasso theme is creative and well-written. Just that I find his arrangements of others more compelling usually than his own material.<br><br>An example that is good of this is kung fu panda. His arrangements of themes are really fun and energetic. In the third one he writes the "father and son" theme, it's okay but it's harmonically basic and the melody is unmemorable. Contrast to Hans: the Po theme and Spirit theme are precise, fun, harmonically clever, and memorable. But his score cues sometimes feel lacking: his transitions are clunky, the bridge material is uncreative and basic. <br><br>It must be so much fun to work on those projects together. Coming up with idea and hearing what someone can turn it into, or getting to play with someone's idea without the pressure of starting from scratch. And also, be prepared for more Studio Time for the scoreTom said in his Twitter: 'Details very soon'<br><br>Altough, is only a week awayThe Nils Frahm track was released years agoNo one is mentioning "Says" from Nils Frahm. What a masterpiece of music. Love how it develops and getting so emotional even with that futuristic sound-effect. One of the highlights of this score, with those tracks Cerbei mentioned.
Balfe is a great arranger but an even better composer.Beyond Two Souls is still one of the best game soundtracks.<br><br>I must have watched another movie in regards to Balfe filling in the gaps - that makes no sense? The soundtrack released seems not to relate to what was actually used in the film.Balfe “gap” music is featured much more and works brilliantly<br>Last night I was talking to Lorne, and he told me that in principle there is intention to release the full score.I'd be very interested to hear the supposed Balfe complete score to picture where he apparently sought to elevate it, as someone here put it. The Richter is pitch-perfect and works massively well to picture and, not dissing Balfe at all, his stuff is literally 'additional music' to fill the gaps.Aplusle, that's really well put actually.
Don't feel bad. You've just summed up why Hans and Lorne make a good team. Lorne is by all accounts a fantastic arranger and can bring out the best in others' ideas but I sometimes find his own compositions are a bit basic or leave me cold. Hans on the other hand always nails the theme and the concept but his scoring to picture to me feels clunky and a bit amateurish, especially when the music is dense. <br><br>Both super talented in their own ways. :-)Is there anyway o get sheet music for Into the pie machine for orchestra?Just saw Maleficent 2. There is a lot more Newton Howard in the movoe than there is on album.<br>I actually can't really understand why they didn't include the reprise of The Christening (the dinner scene) & the finale in the movie.<br><br>Zanelli's score is wonderful and I love it very much. But would have loved this on albumI can't imagine how someone likes Balfe's part over Richters. As you said Thomas, Richters work sounds more like suites, and Balfes work is written more to picture. BUT, it sounds to me also like a typical RCP-work with Hans. While Hans gives the direction with his suites and melodies, Balfe and co are adapting those suites to the specific scenes and writing some "new" stuff to fill any gap if there is any need of it, so they become additional composers in the credits.<br><br>And here, we have the same. Richter shows the direction and some cues are real intense and beautiful. Balfes parts sounding like a gap-filler. I don't want to talk bad about Balfe, he's a composing machine, but still i can't find anything remarkable on those parts and so i can't understand how Richters work hasn't been used but instead the more colorless cues from Balfes part :/<br><br>Again, don't feel insulted guys, it's just my sensationBalfe’s part is the best I think.<br>It also seems written to picture instead of just long suites.<br>My understanding is the Balfe wrote half of the score but the album doesn’t seem to represent that for some reason.

instead of putting a petition out in the world to get the second cd of "Dark Phoenix", how about a petition to get the complete score of this here?

would love to hear all those cues, zimmer at his best...

Babe2019-07-05 21:07:56
Dark Phoenix >> Tears of the Sun!

timothy2019-07-07 13:01:10
interesting how crazy silent it becomes, when someone talks about the complete score of this movie here <.<

Mr Tweedy2019-07-08 22:37:35
I agree this score deserves a complete score release, but it seems very unlikely. The movie isn't iconic enough, and the score, though excellent, is considered by many as a lesser effort by HZ, unfortunately.
Nonetheless, this is one of my Top 5 HZ scores.

At least we got this *almost* complete score as an unofficial release, and I'm fine with it.

Cercei2019-07-09 13:09:12
you've got this version with this tracklist above? i would be very glad to have this :/

and yes, movie is not that good, but is King Arthur any better? but the score is so much joy to hear at it. if a movie isn't popular, then just release the complete score as digital download. everyone would be happy

Cercei2019-10-17 11:27:09
@Mr Tweedy: so, you have it or not?!

SPECTER2019-10-18 03:27:06
I would buy a copy of an official release of this score. The Jablonsky variations is one of my favorite HZ tracks.

Ned2019-10-18 09:31:12
@Hybrid Soldier: Do you know if there is any chance LLL would take this as a candidate for a propper release? Or is it a no-go for Zimmer like with Last Samurai?

Hybrid Soldier2019-10-18 11:22:36
No idea, and Last Samurai is not a no-go from Hans. It might have been under certain circumstances in the past but last time I asked him he was open for it (under some conditions, obviously).

CAHet2019-10-18 15:58:31
@Hybrid Soldier, out of curiosity, why is the Last Samurai have conditions? A better way to ask is, what is the backstory with it what seems to cause reservations for Hans? Thanks!

arthur spooner2019-10-18 16:11:50
zimmer said once, that he was very satisfied of how his music was presented in the ost and that it would let the music speak in that way as he wanted to be heard, and that there aren't much of importing cues that should have been added or released.

but i guess he hasn't recognized how much love his score have gotten over the years, until his first world tour. there has been a huge demand and loud screaming after the tracklist of his show had been released and there was no sign of last samurai. people complained and asked (esp. through this site) for a cue of Last Samurai to be played in their show, but it the developement of the show was already at its end and so he hadn't the chance to include a cue of it aswell. but atleast he recognized how much people are loving that score and respect his work on it. maybe that has changed his mind and view to the score and a propper and complete release of the score...

sketches2019-10-19 01:36:07
I know this is probably the wrong place for it but I'd love if Hnas would one day release a CD of just his demo sketches and suites. I find hearing the original intentions/ideas even when rough really fascinating.

yup, floating around here and there. so it's just a matter of time until it's going to be "available"

I think it's been here for at least 2 years !

no, it was an expandend fan-bootleg with fake cues. this cue-list i haven't seen so far here. but i hope lagrange is right and someone will make this "available" soon haha :)

Per2017-01-31 16:17:09
This (this exact tracklist for TOTS) have been here at least since august 2015. Earlier it was a page with some old fake Hannibal version (as you also can see from the older comments).

"Victim" and "Adagio" are music by Frédéric Talgorn

Dawn2015-03-17 21:08:12
This is because this so-called "expanded score" is a fake !

They added unrelated tracks in order to make it look longer than the previous release. Forget about it !

Anyone notice the mp3 "Extract" available on this page to download sounds remarkably like a clip from John Williams' "Star Wars"?? Just a thought... but I'm 99% sure its NOT Zimmer.

I'm no expert, however, I own this "edition" of Hannibal, and it contains music that is NOT Zimmer. #6 Victim and #8 Adagio are NOT Zimmer. Any person with a slight ear for music can tell, it's just not his style, and it is different then the entire sound of the rest of the music. These 2 tracks are from Steve Jablonsky's 7-track collection of Hannibal Alternate Tracks. I own this as well.

#1 Kyrie on Disc 2 is "Let My Home Be My Gallows" from the Original Release of the soundtrack. Not a new track. #3 & #4 on Disc 2 seem to be the same piece of music as "Kyrie" without the dialogue, though together they run roughly 30 secs shorter. There are subtle differences however and it could just be an alternate track.

#2 Shadow on Disc 2 is "Frienze Di Notte" from the Original Release as well.

Like I said, I'm no expert, just a lover of Zimmer's music and thought I'd share.

OK listen (or read lol) carefully :

Take Hannibal OST...

The only real unreleased tracks you can find are :

Bring Him Home (1:27) (Zanelli)
Scent Of Lecter (1:06) (Zanelli)
Lecter Kidnapped (1:55) (Jablonsky)

Coming from GZ & SJ's promos...

That's all...

Clay reply Replies: 0 || 2008-03-15 00:00:00
Does anybody know which tracks from here aren't from Hannibal?

And is it "Kyrie" just the sum of "Let me Home" and "Be my gallows" (which are supposed to be only one track)?

Jim reply Replies: 0 || 2008-02-23 00:00:00
Why fake?

Hybrid Soldier reply Replies: 0 || 2008-02-23 00:00:00
Cause all the parts with SFX from the OST are simply cut (they are not here without SFX)...

And there's music not from Hannibal in this "release"...
