This new release captures once again all the talent of Lisa Gerrard and Patrick Cassidy‚ finally together for a music both bewitching and timeless.
Patrick Cassidy' style of composition is clearly recognizable (Hannibal‚ Famine Remembrance‚ Deirdre Of The Sorrows?) and the voice of lisa Gerrard (poems in gaelic‚ aramic...) increases this solemn side which takes the listener off a contemplative and sacred world.
Don't hesitate to fall into this ageless universe where music remarkably coasts along meditation.
Lisa Gerrard about Immortal Memory : "Music is a place to go to take refuge‚ (?) it's a sanctuary from mediocrity and boredom. It's innocent and it's a place you can lose yourself in thoughts and memories and intricacies.(?) But it's definitely soulful. I don't analyse music. I respond to it on an emotional level and I hope that's what people will hear.
An accident relationship confronting two ways of working : "He brought these beautiful books and thousand year old Irish poems. I'd never though of working like that before and it was inspirational‚ (?) He had strong ideas about the material and the architecture of the work. (?) Patrick always works everything out on paper. The challenge was for him to accommodate to my more intuitive approach and for me to discipline myself to his more methodical way of working."
A hard study of ancient language : "I wanted it to sound authentic because they're beautiful words with their own music and poetry‚"
