I still wouldn't expect a recall and replacement, since it'd be a lot of money down the drain there. Their loss ultimately at the end of the day.<br><br>A bit disappointed about the content being the exact same as the leak, as I would've liked some of the film edits or at least the alt mixes I've seen pop up. I guess I'll just have to hope Disney does end up cooperating with LLL sooner than later.You gotta realize one thing, most of the time, Hans doesn't even know about these releases (and honestly I think he doesn't care). Only a few labels like LLL play ball and have him involved (but as Hans doesn't own most of his music, they have no other reason than courtesy to do so).<br><br>As for MI2, people who complained about the "content" instead of the tech aspect of it were goddamn wrong. Yes, the film mixes / OST mixes are pretty different. Because you have suites & sometimes material specifically arranged for the album or alternate cues.<br><br>Mondo having released the final mixes (and I know what Paramount provided them, it's just exactly the same 2 CD set copy that leaked years ago), I have no problem if the content is different.<br><br>And that's the topic on which they answered, James. Technically, they're not wrong, but they are ditching the REAL problem, for which they are responsible for ! The speed issue is on them, not on what they got.Considering the recent issues with the isolated score on Days of Thunder's 4K release sounding very inconsistent, I do wonder if Paramount has simply been poor in preserving stuff. Especially when they mention the studio and not the record label, which might've had a better copy on hand (they did finally put the OST on digital recently, after all).<br><br>I am not going to hold Mondo responsible for this, especially considering they normally do just press the regular OSTs onto LPs. I don't expect them to be fully privy to if a score sounds fine or not, since they're often just given the stuff prepared for them. Besides, repressing records would be a super expensive ordeal, especially with how limited they're often designed to be now.<br><br>And honestly: since no one has made the comparison to Sherlock 2 yet, how bad sounding is it really? I'd much rather it be slightly off than it being complete trash like the Perseverance release of Rain Man was. If HZ was able to let that slide once, then he won't be so worked up over a small tempo issue.
So this is what Mondo had to say about their massive screw up. I've never heard something so stupid in my life. If I had a direct line to Hans Zimmerman himself I'd call him about this. I'm sure he would be interested to know they butchered his album. <br><br>"Hi James,<br><br>I talked with the soundtracks department and here's what they had to say:<br><br>We’ve been made aware of a discrepancy between how the audio sounds on our album versus how it was previously released in original releases.<br><br>Our masters came directly from the studio and from original recording sessions, and we did not do any adjustments to the masters in post other than standard vinyl mastering process. Thx.<br><br>Score has much similarities with Sherlock, so there is many of Lorne's cues...Known credits are Runaway Train for Mazzaro (was on his website), for Andrew K : The Rangers, Cannibal, Dead Rangers & Finish Him (on his Soundcloud). Geoff is the only guy with Ann Marie Simpson that got the privilege of cuesheet credit.

Sweet score. With many highlights. However, little original. It's an interesting work for Ramin, but it's far from being a significant effort in the genre of the fantasy scores.

To be honest this is better than both hurricane heist and Tomb Raider... and possibly Pacific Rim Uprising that comes out next week. We just got 4 major RCP scores and I’m kinda underwhelmed with what I’ve heard from all four of them, unfortunately.

I'm now in my first listen of the score and I gotta say that it has less action tan I expected but that's not a bad thing because instead we have great, beautiful fantasy themes. I specially love tracks like A Wrinkle In Time or Uriel.

Too bad there is only 45 minutes of score...

Instead of concerning ourselves with Sia, we have to be worried about Djawadi. The man has a knick for a simple tv tune. But anything outside of that sounds like a youtube fanvideo. The incidental score for Game of Thrones, especially the wall scenes, is terrible and amateurish.

All I can think is that the producers must have been pressed with time and had to go with the casio synth nonsense Djawadi presented them with. It is the worst example of scoring for a major franchise.

Again, Dwajadi does well with his choral bits but he is not a composer, more a theme tune man. Who Wants to be a Millionare would serve him better than a complex franchise.

Simultaneously, the Paint it Black material from Westworld is outstanding. But was this done by Djawadi or a much more talented orchestrator - can we look into this as it sounds nothing like his work

BTW, I don't think Djawadi is able just to do themes. His score in GoT Season 7 shows that he is able to do action tracks very well. Also, in GoT Season 6, he shows that he is able to have many themes and develop them in many different ways.

Ummm the entirety of the Game of Thrones soundtracks show that Djawadi has many strengths both as a composer and a "theme man" or whatever. Game of Thrones has a soundtrack that is comparable to that of Lord of the Rings - not as memorable, but both LoTR and GoT have phenomenal soundtracks with memorable themes that describe the worlds depicted in each respective franchise. Each soundtrack has themes depicting different cultures, groups of people, characters or complex ideas. While GoT soundtrack isn't as beloved as the LoTR score, they share those qualities. So no, Djawadi is no weak composer.

To even compare Djawadi and Shore in complexity is offensive. I presume you haven't actually bothered reading Doug Adams' book on the thematic nuances of The Lord of the Rings? Djawadi employs tiny little nuggets of melody as themes that he recycles verbatim every time. There is no variation.

The Lord of the Rings is based on an extensive amount of thematic development which, absolutely, is missing in Game of Thrones.

Certainly, Shore's work is not as nuanced in development as, let's say, Williams with Star Wars, but to compare his extensively detailed emphatically organic and orchestrally and instrumentally complex work to Djawadi using a cello and a bank of samples is offensive.

Again, some of the choral music is fine but very basic in both harmony and application, and again, let down by the cheapness of the samples underlying them.

I love LotR music, but the superior "development" and "complexity" that the buffoon above me is referring to basically translates to "now the theme is being played by six violins instead of seven, because one of the characters just died", which is just super-duper noticeable, if you catch my drift.

In the meantime, Djawadi manages a complete tonal shift from adventurous to dark and ominous (Needle - House of Black and White), from royal and grandious to bloody and brutal (King's Arrival - The Throne Is Mine), and combining the themes in ways Shore hasn't even attempted.

I love these posh music-savvy professionals straight from conservatory in Cocksville, Tennessee, telling us mere peasants that our tastes suck because if you listen very very carefully, you will notice that one of the choir members in O3:47 just scratched his balls, which of course signfies the internal turmoil Frodo is in.

I will say it again - I love LotR music. But thematic nuances my ass. Even intent listeners would miss about 90% of them - so much so they might be on many occassions downright nonexistent - and even if you do notice, the entire experience just boils down to "oh, the theme is now being played slightly differently, I guess that's kinda cool, in a way, maybe". There has never been a radical transformation or combination of themes in a way Djawadi does it. "Playing a more somber version of the Fellowship theme", or whatever else you may say to justify putting Shore on a higher pedestal than Djawadi, simply doesn't cut it. All of it serves just as a pointless piece of trivia, being used by stuck-up smellers of their own farts to appear mighty and knowledgeable.

If you cannot understand the difference between Shore's nuanced approach to orchestal music and Djawadi's instrumental approach, I suppose it is the same as explaining Brexit to a Daily Mail reading ape and someone with an ability to think. Or, to take it from the other perspective, Fox News to anyone with a brain.

By the way, it is not a great argument to say that 90% of listeners will miss the nuances. Most people have better brains than you do - I suppose you support the RNA as well with your level of cognitive ability and intelligence. If you do, you are an inhuman.

I hope the movie turns out OK because the book it's based on is wonderful. And Ava DuVernay is an interesting choice of director. But so was Duncan Jones for Warcraft (to keep it in the Djawadi family) and that turned out fairly mediocre, and I can't say that I have high hopes for this.

Also, that poster/album cover is...yuck.
