Is it just me or does the “Catwoman” riff (not the main theme) in “Bar Shootout” and “Nothing Out There” sound very much like the main Scarface theme?

I’ve also noticed that Hans sometimes will write a main tune and a series of riffs for a character, but will mainly incorporate the smaller motifs in the film (Angelica’s music from OST, Megamind’s main tune, Catwoman, etc.) Definitely not a problem though, I like the variety.

Look at the evolution of Batman’s theme from Begins, where he had the 2-note motif and the actual theme, to here where it’s just the 2 notes and the chord theme. I wonder if that was Chris Nolan’s decision.John Powell answered in Facebook there is still 45 minutes of music outside from the CD.Yep, he knows how to do BIG and small moments. He's so versatile. I'm praying rian johnson uses him for his new trilogyThank you! Glad you enjoyed it.If there is one who can replace John Williams on Star Wars than is it John Powell!!

Great Job!!
It sounds great ! I think I will listen to the CD after the hamburg concert, to keep the surprise, because they will play some cues there !

Are some french JP fans going to Hamburg next week ? It would be great to have a beer and talk about film music !Dear Mr. Zimmer (or those interested),

Over the years I have always enjoyed some of the higher-intensity compositions you have produced and made a point of putting my money where my mouth is and actually buying the soundtracks - money well spent. I've used specific songs of your's to get through moments of fatigue at work and also to prepare (silly as it may sound) for sporting events, even working out or running. I found them better than any rock or even electronic-type energetic music, until such a point, naturally, that I'd listened to them too many times and the magic wore off. Some of your songs rise to a crescendo that sometimes are powerful but perhaps lost on those who are unfamiliar with the corresponding movie scene ("Flight" from Man of Steel, it rises gradually but the concept you capture is magnificent, "Time" from Inception as well comes to mind). Some are obviously and undeniably potent like "A Dog Chasing Cars" or, going way back to when I learned of your work, "The Battle" from Gladiator which reminded me of "Mars, the Bringer of War", -- or even the latest "Sea Wall".

Admittedly this is odd but I can't help but wonder if despite all the solicitations you must receive it seemed to me I might as well send the following two-fold feedback: in the same way I was pleased to learn that Daft Punk was handling the soundtrack for the modern remake of TRON (and what a fine job they did) I was also heartened to find that you were handling the soundtrack for Blade Runner 2049. It seemed a good sign to me at the time and I knew I would buy a ticket at that point. That was a movie (BR2049) I was worried they would BOTCH much in the same way they completely did whatever it was they did with remake of Total Recall (in which they completely stripped it of its cerebral essence and made it a very long chase-scene).

All of this is to express some appreciation and also plug an obscure pianist from Montreal who has been on the CBC and all that, who, when I spoke to him after a show and compared some of his energetic imaginative work (Nostos comes to mind, and damn he hit 99% of those complex piano notes) to your's he admitted it was a dream of his to work with you under any capacity. Of course I suspect nothing will come of this but either way I think it harmless to tip my hat your way as a long-time fan who has utilized your music for motivation many, many, many times and also note that on my esoteric playlists five or six came from you and one or two came from him (Nostos, Il, Hypoctite)

Lastly, it should be noted for the historians that one time Jean-Michel Blais saved us Canadians (if you do the collective math based on viewership) a great deal of time and intellectual agony. Chevy was running commercials during the NHL playoffs (last year, not the the latest Washington Capitals win) in which an irritating scenario of "real people" were supposed to judge cars/trucks that popped out from behind sliding doors or lifted from basements (aircraft-carrier-style), and the poor fools/actors/allegedly "real people" had to say something nice about it all. It was such garbage. How splendid, how refreshing, then, that they ran a good commercial with someone just winding corners and enjoying driving the damn car to the music, which I recognized as JMB's "Hypocrite". He saved the society a good 10k hours of perniciousness.

Whew! That's all from me. Love the music, keep it up. Please give JMB a shot I think you'll find his attitude/ethic/skills refreshing. Regardless of that at least it was worthwhile of me to express my appreciation for ten years of masterful original music on your part anyway.Separate question:

Is Toby Chu part of RCP? I think he had some connections at least right?Why wouldn't Hans go all-out for something that's going to be viewed on this scale? I mean, how hard is it to compose 45 seconds of compelling, original music when you've worked on innumerable 2+ hour films?Woah, Hans actually did good work on this; it's admittedly a bit anonymous-sounding, but the combination of percussion, strings, and choir works in a way that's reminiscent of Angels & Demons (oh, those were the days...).
John just precised this point, i was just too impatient ;)Hubris: Choral Works by John Powell is now available to stream worldwide on all digital platforms! 😎

Also available to download in 192k/24bit high-resolution from johnpowellmusic .com
CDs on https ://bit.ly/2lcQ5Ig :) and coming soon to Amazon and other retailers!

Thank you, everyone, who was a part of this record!
Enjoy 🎶🎺Mega cool :) Wann wird dieser Remix released? :)This would be really nice that as the release is only available for download, we had the choice to download it in a better quality than the CD itself. We have no material piece in the hands, at least we would like to have such a contentment. I do have no action in Qobuz, but that should be a mandatory place for a download only music, for music lovers who like pure instrumental music. ;)
I'll be waiting for it !This album is absolutley wonderful!. I loved every second of it. I adore choirs in film music and an album like this is a very welcome treat!

Great job, Mr. Powell
10/10
Absolutely delightful score. Loved it.Where can we buy this "complete score"?What a wonderful soundtrack, I can not stop listening either. When I get home after work, Interstellar is the best soundtrack to listen to in the quiet of dawn. It's to get in touch with the Cosmos. Congratulations Hans Zimmer.from like.....4 years ago?I’m surprised nobody is talking about the expanded score that has leaked...!

Must..........find.......the beautiful instrumental music right when they arrive in Kentucky. It's around 33:30. Yes, I know the John Denver connection, but this cue was clearly put together by the composers of the movie. Yet, I can't find it anywhere.

Was it even released?

According to IMDB, Henry Jackman is doing Mission Impossible - Fallout. Not sure how accurate this can be because I've seen IMDB errors before... anyone else have better info?

George2018-02-08 15:22:06
Wikipedia also has Jackman doing Fallout. Which I'm actually excited for, if its true! I'm particularly a big fan of Jackman

Macejko2018-02-08 15:42:20
So I guess the franchise will never have a composer worth a damn.

Edmund Meinerts2018-02-08 16:06:02
Except you know Elfman, Zimmer and Giacchino.

Macejko2018-02-08 16:20:50
Right, I completely forgot about Hans.

Olive2018-02-08 16:58:44
Elfman, Giacchino and KRAEMER also are fine composers!

A little happy for Jackman! I wait that he make a good job!

Olive2018-02-08 17:04:06
Fake news. Now it is "Joe Kraemer" again. Trolls is everyplace.

Macejko reply Replies: 1 || 2018-01-23 00:25:16
Finally got around to watch this - heavily underappreciated- sequel, and listening to its fantastic score I'm almost positive Jackman had nothing to do with it and it was all Matt Margeson's work.

I liked his Jumanji, to be honest, but it "only" felt like Jackman slowly coming to his senses after years of lackluster input (Kong, Civil War, Jack Reacher etc.) - it was by no means a strong, thematic, action packed, masterfully orchestrated score as Kingsman 2 (or the first one, for that matter) was. This alone tells me volumes about the composer-listing shennanigans of this soundtrack. If this isn't Margeson through and through, I will eat my hat and chug it down with whiskey.

George2018-01-23 02:26:54
You may be right, but I actually think Jackman did a pretty good job with his scores this year. I enjoyed Jumanji, and i may be in the minority here but i actually really enjoyed Kong as well. I tend to think he and Margeson just have a great collaborating chemistry because those Kingsman scores are two of the best scores either one of them has done.

Is the music from the scene where Harry remembers who he was before on the soundtrack? Can’t find it.

That track is called "Rage and Serenity" and is actually on the X-Men: First Class album.

Where'd you get this?

FunnyML2017-12-06 00:23:49
I'm getting offered stuff occasionally. Didn't come to pass in the end, but I kept the tracklist.

Iamtommie2017-12-06 11:32:31
Do you get the complete or expanded score or onlu the tracklist?

Iamtommie reply Replies: 1 || 2017-09-24 00:00:18
Does anyone know a chronological order or is this chronological??

FunnyML2017-12-02 05:15:39
Just put "02. Memories Of Harry" between "04. Poppy" and "05. Incomig Missiles" and it should be chronological.

"12. Whiskey's Demons" and "25. Kingsman Hoedown" seem to be unused though.

"Mutant and Proud" (from X-Men First Class) was used on the scene when Harry's gets back his memories. Am i right?

Lejti2017-09-24 07:53:07
My fault, it was "Rage and Serenity"

Edmund Meinerts2017-09-26 12:21:27
Yeah, I noticed that! It was either that cue exactly dropped in, or a temp version of it that is so close as to be practically indistinguishable from the original. Of course, same director, same composer, same studio...guess there are no rights/plagiarism issues there!

HYBRID, do you know IF or WHEN this album will be released on Spotify or Google Play Music? So far, I can only find it on iTunes.

Is it just me or is Poppy’s theme the same thing as Jack and Jill’s theme from puss n boots?

Anonymous2017-09-23 17:30:12
Probably. The first Kingsman sounds just like Winter Soldier.

Medigo2017-09-24 00:56:01
Winter Soldier sounds almost nothing like Kingsman
Civil war maybe

JBSO992017-09-24 22:39:10
The first Kingsman is by far superior than Civil War and it has nothing similiar to The Winter Soldier.

Civil War for me was quite bland and generic but the first Kingsman has some very good themes and great strong action cues.

On the other hand I really liked The Winter Soldier, but not as much as the Kingsman scores.

David reply Replies: 0 || 2017-09-24 00:10:05
Yes! "No Time for Emotion" and "Not In Vain" contain John Denver's "Country Roads"! No Time for Emotion is Mark Strong singing it like in the film!! I'm so happy they included this! :D

JBSO99 reply Replies: 0 || 2017-09-22 21:24:18
Just watched the movie and it was awesome, well not as great s the first one, but still very entertaining.

As for the score, by now I have just listened to it in the movie and there worked perfectly, I would say even better than in the first one, with some old themes and some very good new themes, specially I love the Poppy theme.

Now I will listen to the album to see what tracks are we missing but it looks like a really complete pack.

Waymann reply Replies: 1 || 2017-09-22 10:34:40
Great fun score. It has everything I expected. Although that country vibe in some tracks is nice not really my cup of tea.

Edmund Meinerts2017-09-22 12:37:36
I guess that's for the Statesmen. Would have preferred an all-out Western sound for them to contrast with the Bond-type music for the Kingsmen...that would have been fun!

Waymann reply Replies: 4 || 2017-09-21 16:11:26
The score has 25 tracks and is about 1 hour and 16 minutes long. Samples sound awesome. Great action score with new theme's and variations of the old ones. Looking forward to hearing it in full.

JBSO992017-09-21 16:41:29
Where can I listen to those samples? I would love to hear some bits of the score before watching the movie.

Iamtommie2017-09-21 17:15:33
Where did you get this information and samples?

Waymann2017-09-21 20:14:22
iTunes SriLanka is the first itunes store to get the new releases online on friday. But by now you can also go to iTunes New Zeland or something and checkout the album and it’s samples.

Anyway, I cannot wait for this one. The music for the first one was really funny and entertaining and I hope this one will be as good as the first one.

No the CD comes out on October 20th, not september.

Really looking forward to this one. The soundtrack for the first film was one of my favorites of 2015. Also a new Thomas Newman score that day. I'm a happy man.
