Imagine a future show if Hans and co. played Sea Wall from Blade Runner 2049. ...That cue with a full orchestral and choral ensemble behind the synthesizers...damn.
"While the Oscar, Golden Globe, Grammy and Tony-winner obviously isn't going to play every single one of his iconic film scores, expect to hear plenty of your favourites from a lineup that also includes Wonder Woman, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, 12 Years a Slave, Sherlock Holmes, Mission Impossible II and Pearl Harbour — plus the small screen's The Crown and Blue Planet II as well."
Is Zimmer really playing The Crown and Blue Planet II?
Just watched the BluRay last night. I have a 9.2 system but not Atmos. I seemed to notice that when they focused on individual instruments for featured "solos", the instrument did not stand out in the mix as I would have expected it to do. Also, some of the low end seemed a bit thick, almost like there was too much reverberation to each note. Beautifully filmed, but the mix left me a bit flat, seems like the sound engineer could have done a better job.

The sound of this show isn’t very good. You can’t really hear the performances like with for instance world of hans zimmer which is a much better concert, sound wise and in general IMO.

Agree 100%. The World of Hans Zimmer is so much better music wise than this show.

Couldn't disagree more about the bluray... The album version is mixed uniformly, but in the blu-ray I noticed a focus on instruments (and especially the choir) when they appear on screen. I thought it was actually very well mixed, a terrific sound overall. And this hybrid orchestral/rock/synth configuration is definitely something unique. It was also acknowledged in the official review of blu-ray.com, which awarded the blu-ray 4/5 for picture and 5/5 for sound. Some may say The World of HZ has a better sound, but in truth it just has a more orchestral/traditional sound. That's not better, that's simply different... but less original.

I don't think it is just more orchestral/traditional sound. I think the problem is, in Hans Zimmer live, the solo performances were stunning, but the bigger performances with layers lacked the players required to really bring the oomph out of the pieces. For example, I feel like in "Time," I couldn't hear the declaration of each note that made the cue so satisfying. Everything just blended together, especially when Russell added her vocals during the climax.
In pieces like Pirates where Guo and other artists had their chamber style performances, I really enjoyed that.

I’m sorry but mixing orchestra with rock is nothing new or original... it has been done before by loads of people and the sound is very commercial and not at all what I like about Zimmer’s music. World of Hans Zimmer has the music being performed the way I know it, like it was written.
HZ live was a nice attempt to bring in different audiences into the world of film music but other than that, it wasn’t a good concert in my opinion. Some things like rain Man, Madagascar and true Romance worked very well but as soon as there were “bigger” pieces being performed it all just got loud and didn’t sound like it should.
On the other hand, World of hans zimmer is a great concert and I can’t wait to see it again and buy the CD!

I watched again and the "thickness" in some of the low end was in fact multiple kettle drums being rapidly pounded which in fact accounts for the excess reverberation and explains why it sounded muddy to me. I will have to get the "World of Hans Zimmer" recording that others are talking about and see if I like that one better.
This is the first official release of (part of) the Wayne Manor/Moody Bruce suite, isn't it?

Yes... except "officially" the TDK medley contains: Why So Serious? / Like A Dog Chasing Cars / Why Do We Fall / Introduce A Little Anarchy / The Fire Rises. That's according to the booklet and the scene selection on the Blu-ray. And that's hilarious because selecting "Why Do We Fall" leads you right in the middle of the actual Like a Dog Chasing Cars, and "Introduce a Little Anarchy" leads you to the Moody Bruce segment.
They shouldn't have let the intern take care of the track list :-p

Not as laughable as POTC medley honestly...
They mixed up the Jack Sparrow suite with the film cue "Captain Jack Sparrow" and credited it to Hans & Trevor Morris... And credited the "One Day" as in the OST to Hans, Jackman, Gire & Sponsler while in fact, nothing from Gire/Sponsler is in that medley...
Who do they hire to do that ? Ask me ! I know my shit in cuesheet area ! lol

But what about original suites for the third Pirates movie? I mean "New Love Suite" or "Marry Me" (written by Zimmer and Jackman). It's the same material, but slightly rearranged.
I saw it at the cinema and it was wonderful! I regret having missed his concert in Paris. Do you know if he will make a future concert in France? I hope to meet him one day Thank you!
I have to say, I like the presentation of the Electro Suite on here. I feel the original was perhaps too long and repetitive, and so to me it benefits from the shorter length.
I listened to the digital version last friday and I didn’t think much of it. I liked it but I wasn’t blow away by it and didn’t feel the urge to listen to it again over the weekend. But today I finally received the blu-ray and watched it in my home theater and holy damn... The Dolby Atmos track truly makes this an experience. It’s like you are in the arena and the sound quality is impeccable. Also this killer Dolby Atmos track accompanied with the footage of the concert truly brings this whole thing alive. I think the blu-ray is the best way to experience this concert (again). No cd or LP will do the same.
I didn’t see this concert live but a few years ago I saw Hans Zimmer and his team play the Inception Medley live on the WSA concert in Belgium which was already an experience on it’s own. This concernt is the closed to what I experienced back then.

Yeah, you have to watch it and feel it. Listening to the digital CD does not do it justice. The audio/visual quality is awesome.

I listen to all the tracks on MP3 multiple times but I agree with you that the quality is pretty disappointing. I thought a lot of the recordings were too soft. The show is amazing with the visuals.
I got some questions after reading the booklet. 1. Why does James Newton Howard get credit for The Dark Knight music? I thought those pieces were composed by Zimmer alone. 2. Why does Ryan Rubin and Alex Gibson, two music editors, get credits for Interstellar?
Brent

James gets a credit because he co-wrote (almost) all the major themes of TDK trilogy. The only piece Hans truly wrote himself (at least to my knowledge) is the Joker’s theme. TDKR was the only film in the franchise to not have James a part of it (although his themes remain).

No, it's because technically JNH is credited on every single cue of BB & TDK. But the suite is HZ's music.
And on some projects Hans gives cuesheet credits for Music Editors, especially Nolan films (they will get something like 2% of each cue), so they are the ones appearing in Interstellar cuesheet.

He didn't do any of the music here, as far as I know.

Well, they didn't know Lisa would perform really. She only did originally in NZ and AUS in 2017, this was a long time before that. Maybe they didn't even know they would tour in 2017, it's fantastic we got this show, if we got Lisa it would have been another year before it came out.
I like all the tracks, but there are a few that are my highlights! - chevaliers de sangreal (just simply beautiful) - The lion king (childhood memories) - you’re so cool (love the theme) - journey to the line (small, but powerfull with a dash of epicness) - electro suite (i like the agression) - interstellar (altough i’m not very fond of the soundtrack) -inception (time is my #1 track, what aan amazing piece of music)
I’m curious what your favorites are....

I have to say Pirates medley is my favourite, it's just epic and the violins are beautiful.
I like it all though. Personally Interstellar is my favourite soundtrack ever but it's a bit harder to do justice to it here without the huge organs. Lion King also, Lebo has such charisma and fills the whole place with energy!
Hybrid, will a deluxe edition for this album be released? I remember reading somewhere on a website that there would be, and I'm not sure whether to buy the standard version now, or wait for a month or two for the deluxe version.
Laurens
2017-11-04 09:25:18
In the original statement they announced a deluxe edition but when pre-orders came about, they posted an additionel statement saying that they had mistakenly announced the deluxe edition. So I’d think it won’t happen but of course you can never be 100% sure.
Can anyone tell me why the Prague concert was decided to be the one the footage was shot at? Is it something to do with the whole orchestra? I some versions of Hans's ealrier work I see reference to "The City of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra", does Hans have close ties with this orchestra and choir or is it just coinsedence?
I have a question... i live in the netherlands, and i want to buy the blu-ray.. but i’m not sure if it works in my “region”. Can anybody help me please

Really?! Ok thank you man ! Then its da vinci code time now haha
Listened to it a few times this week. I enjoyed it but the mix seems a bit of a mix bag for me. The orchestra seems too recessed and percussion in some tracks are over pronounced but it’s still and enjoyable listen. It might be different on the blu ray

"The orchestra seems too recessed and percussion in some tracks are over pronounced"
Absolutely chilling. Chevaliers brought me to tears. Zoosters put a huge smile on my face. 160 BPM drum solo made me want to go on a run. Pirates sent chills down my spine. And thats as far as I've gotten so far....
Amazon.uk main description says that Blu ray is region A only. In detailed description you can find it is All regions. But All regions is usually used for DVD format. Does anybody know what is right? Region A only or Region free(all regions)?

Yeah, I think something weird is going on. On Amazon.fr, they sell the CD and DVD but not the Bluray anymore. I ordered mine in a shop, I hope there won't be any issue.
Saw it now 3 times. In Mannheim, Frankfurt and toady at the Cinema. Really a fantastic show. Even in the Cinema it works really well. Thanks to Hans and the wonderful musicians for this great experience

what was your favorite concert? mannheim, frankfurt or at the cinema?
Julian
2017-10-03 02:18:13
My favourite was in Mannheim. The Mixing of the Sound in a Football Stadium, like it was in Frankfurt, is really hard. Sometimes you didn't recognize the Melody and the Mixing was bad. So i talked to other People there, if they had the same perception like me. And there were some people, who said, that they had the same feeling about the Sound. Later on, towards the second half of the concert, the Sound was good. But they needed some time to find the right mix for the location. So it wasn't a bad Concert and you also had the Highlihts with Trevor Horn and Lisa Gerrard but for the Mixing i prefer the Mannheim Concert in 2016. So for the Cinema. It's filmed in a classical Way. You don't have the experimental Concertfilm like Rammstein's Live in Paris Concert (you really have to see it) The Footage was very good. You get another point of view, another angles of the Stage and it was really interessting to see the people performing and how they react to each other. And also the Mixing of the Sound was really good. You noticed every Instrument in the right moment, really good job by the Producers. Overall i can say you should get the DVD or Blu Ray. It's a good Thing, if you missed the Live Show. But to be part of the Crowd in front of the Stage will always be the best way to experience Hans Music. And everytime i watched the show, i wanted to join the Band on the Stage and having a little Jam Session, even in the Cinema :D. So fucking great musicians and great Music.
I'm very happy this is coming out, but I'm also a little bit disapointed that its missing Thelma & Louise, and Wonder Woman

It´s sad, that a lot of sources in the web are talking about, that the recording was made in June 2017. That was so wrong! And sad that Thelma & Louise was missing. But of course its a great show too. [And the best: I filmed for me the complete show at Frankfurt; with Trevor Horn,....and Lisa Gerrard] :)
