so...based on what junkie says here, Elfman is basically just rehashing old shit, as well as other people's old shit....Unless you want to say he's taking his Batman theme into a whole different direction that he didn't really have a desire to do before...until now....<br><br>In that case, "whatever" is all I have to say.Nice stuff! I still can't believe this score hasn't gotten a release. That's unfortunate. With this score, I think it's obvious that the majority is Jablonsky, as it has a ton of elements from scores he's composed exclusively, but it would still be nice to know who did what, especially with the first and second films. Not sure why there's rarely any proper additional music credits for a lot of the RCP guys, especially considering Zimmer's credits are almost always complete. <br><br>However that cuesheet of the extended score is very interesting. Hopefully if it leaks, all those cues remain there.Damn that sounds different from Elfman's commentsThe funny thing is an interview he gave 1 months before being replaced... Saying pretty much the opposite of Elfman !<br><br>"Itís a massive undertaking. And I canít say anything about Justice League specifically, but Iíll tell you this, and this was exactly the same experience that Hans and I had when we did work together on Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Itís like when you see a movie like that, these iconic superhero movies, some of them have a 60 to 80 year legacy, multiple composers had a go at their themes, multiple filmmakers did their version of these charactersóitís very scary. You watch a movie and itís like, ďHoly shit, now I have to come up with something.Ē Youíve got sweaty hands and youíre nervous, and you talk about it over and over againóand I have exactly that relationship with Zack Snyderóand then Zack said, ĒThereís only one thing you can do, and that is embrace this character as if itís your own, keep it close to your musical soul, and just do whatever you feel is the right thing to do for this character.Ē Thatís the only thing we can do. Thatís what all these great directors did back in the day, and thatís what all these great composers did back in the day. It makes no sense for me to do extensive quoting of Hansí score of the really amazing Batmans. It makes no sense for me to quote Superman from John Williams. Because all fantastic composers, they all did the same thing, they did something that was close to their heart, and I have to do exactly the same thing on this movie. You know this is Movie Number 4 that Iím doing with Zack, so you build a friendship and itís built on trust and loyalty. You know how to challenge each other, you know what to expect on the other side, and itís this really open, amazing dialogue about where to take this franchise."
I can confirm that he had already worked on it quite a bit, because he said so in one of his Studio Time episodes.I wouldnít be surprised if he wrote another long sketchbook for it...I honestly have no idea... But I can't believe back in June when he left he hadn't done a bunch of the score already...The thing is with Jablonsky scores composers rarely get cuesheet credits, so you can't really draw conclusions out of it. Here's a small part of the cuesheet :<br><br>QUINTESSA PT 1<br>QUINTESSA PT 2<br>QUINTESSA PT 3 OPTIMUS REDEMPTION<br>KNIGHTED<br>WE HAVE TO GO ZERO GRAVITY<br><br>OPENING BATTLE<br>MERLIN<br>MERLIN GETS THE STAFF - BATTLE WON<br>TROUBLED TIMES<br>CADE DRIVING - AMULET<br>WE HUNT - DECEPTICONS HUNT<br>KEEP A SECRET - VIV ARRIVES CASTLE FOLGEN<br>WITWICCANS<br>ROUNDTABLE ORGAN SOURCE<br>COGMAN CHOIR<br>STAFF<br>BETTER GET CRACKING<br>PLANETARY VAMPIRISM<br>TOO OLD<br>SUBMARINE<br>TWO MOONS<br>MERLIN'S TOMB<br>SPACE STATION<br>CLAIM THE STAFF<br>SHIP RISE<br>YOUR VOICE<br>SOLDIERS TAKE POSITION - BURTON DIES<br>FALL AND GRAB<br>ENDINGrumor has it Lorne Balfe did this score<br><br>I guess if we do not get any credits then that proves it
Any chance of proper artist credits for this score?@Hybrid <br><br>Did Tom actually record anything for the film or did he just do demos? It's the same 24 tracks divided on two CDs. I'm truly hoping for a nice numbered digipak that separates the limited editions from the regular release otherwise it would be quite a crappy move from the record label. <br><br>"Joss said, ĎLetís do it [Batmanís theme] on the nose. Fans love this kind of stuff.í" Why do you have to ruin everything, Joss? This film is atrocious. Suicide Squad was a mess but that film was forgivable. What WB decided to with JL is embarrassing, to say the least. Forcing Zack to change the tone and add forced childish humor and quips, demanding a less than 2-hour runtime, extensive reshoots with Whedon in charge... wtf were they thinking?<br><br>It's interesting to note that Zack hasn't even seen this abomination yet.
Andrew loaded some cues to the movie "The Last Face" up on his soundcloud page, go & check it :)<br><br>soundcloud.com/andrewkawczynski/sets/the-last-faceNice!<br>What about the 2nd CD?Watched this movie yesterday and it didn't make the score any better. It's not the worst thing I've ever heard but after what we got with MoS & BvS it's just disappointing. There's so much missed opportunities. Both the movie and the score had so much potential but it's just flat. <br><br>The problem isn't just Elfman or Whedon, it's WB! They wanted the change in direction and that's really sad.The movie itself is bad on so many levels and adding to that in many scenes I was shaking my head as I was hearing a completely different score in my mind, but there it was, something which took me out of the movie. Disappointed.<br><br>Do you think Whedon would've convinced the producers to replace the composer(s) if Hans was scoring this along with Junkie? I can't imagine what the uproar it would've created.Yes they did.<br><br>That Phantom Stache is in 90% of the Cavill shots...<br><br><br>Warner/DC died and chose Whedon to nail the coffin...<br><br><br>I hope like Superman 2, that one day, we'll get the "Donner's Cut" of this movie as it was supposed to be, because I think it was almost finished (even the score I'm sure Tom had written a good part of it).

I have to say, I like the presentation of the Electro Suite on here. I feel the original was perhaps too long and repetitive, and so to me it benefits from the shorter length.

Mike (OTM) reply Replies: 3 || 2017-11-04 17:56:33
This is the first official release of (part of) the Wayne Manor/Moody Bruce suite, isn't it?

Ds2017-11-07 20:31:03
Yes... except "officially" the TDK medley contains: Why So Serious? / Like A Dog Chasing Cars / Why Do We Fall / Introduce A Little Anarchy / The Fire Rises.
That's according to the booklet and the scene selection on the Blu-ray. And that's hilarious because selecting "Why Do We Fall" leads you right in the middle of the actual Like a Dog Chasing Cars, and "Introduce a Little Anarchy" leads you to the Moody Bruce segment.

They shouldn't have let the intern take care of the track list :-p

Hybrid Soldier2017-11-07 20:47:39
Not as laughable as POTC medley honestly...

They mixed up the Jack Sparrow suite with the film cue "Captain Jack Sparrow" and credited it to Hans & Trevor Morris... And credited the "One Day" as in the OST to Hans, Jackman, Gire & Sponsler while in fact, nothing from Gire/Sponsler is in that medley...

Who do they hire to do that ? Ask me ! I know my shit in cuesheet area ! lol

Michael Fields2017-11-08 05:44:10
But what about original suites for the third Pirates movie? I mean "New Love Suite" or "Marry Me" (written by Zimmer and Jackman). It's the same material, but slightly rearranged.

Waymann reply Replies: 2 || 2017-11-07 22:53:04
I listened to the digital version last friday and I didnít think much of it. I liked it but I wasnít blow away by it and didnít feel the urge to listen to it again over the weekend. But today I finally received the blu-ray and watched it in my home theater and holy damn... The Dolby Atmos track truly makes this an experience. Itís like you are in the arena and the sound quality is impeccable. Also this killer Dolby Atmos track accompanied with the footage of the concert truly brings this whole thing alive. I think the blu-ray is the best way to experience this concert (again). No cd or LP will do the same.

I didnít see this concert live but a few years ago I saw Hans Zimmer and his team play the Inception Medley live on the WSA concert in Belgium which was already an experience on itís own. This concernt is the closed to what I experienced back then.

Marts2017-11-08 00:05:57
Yeah, you have to watch it and feel it. Listening to the digital CD does not do it justice. The audio/visual quality is awesome.

Mephariel2017-11-08 01:40:21
I listen to all the tracks on MP3 multiple times but I agree with you that the quality is pretty disappointing. I thought a lot of the recordings were too soft. The show is amazing with the visuals.

I got some questions after reading the booklet.
1. Why does James Newton Howard get credit for The Dark Knight music? I thought those pieces were composed by Zimmer alone.
2. Why does Ryan Rubin and Alex Gibson, two music editors, get credits for Interstellar?

Brent2017-11-04 08:20:00
James gets a credit because he co-wrote (almost) all the major themes of TDK trilogy. The only piece Hans truly wrote himself (at least to my knowledge) is the Jokerís theme. TDKR was the only film in the franchise to not have James a part of it (although his themes remain).

Hybrid Soldier2017-11-04 10:10:40
No, it's because technically JNH is credited on every single cue of BB & TDK. But the suite is HZ's music.

And on some projects Hans gives cuesheet credits for Music Editors, especially Nolan films (they will get something like 2% of each cue), so they are the ones appearing in Interstellar cuesheet.

MuroFilm2017-11-04 19:30:03
Why isnít Balfe credited ?

Mike (OTM)2017-11-04 19:38:27
He didn't do any of the music here, as far as I know.

Prague*

Marts2017-11-04 11:58:37
Well, they didn't know Lisa would perform really. She only did originally in NZ and AUS in 2017, this was a long time before that. Maybe they didn't even know they would tour in 2017, it's fantastic we got this show, if we got Lisa it would have been another year before it came out.

I like all the tracks, but there are a few that are my highlights!
- chevaliers de sangreal (just simply beautiful)
- The lion king (childhood memories)
- youíre so cool (love the theme)
- journey to the line (small, but powerfull with a dash of epicness)
- electro suite (i like the agression)
- interstellar (altough iím not very fond of the soundtrack)
-inception (time is my #1 track, what aan amazing piece of music)

Iím curious what your favorites are....

Marts2017-11-04 11:56:33
I have to say Pirates medley is my favourite, it's just epic and the violins are beautiful.

I like it all though. Personally Interstellar is my favourite soundtrack ever but it's a bit harder to do justice to it here without the huge organs. Lion King also, Lebo has such charisma and fills the whole place with energy!

Hybrid, will a deluxe edition for this album be released? I remember reading somewhere on a website that there would be, and I'm not sure whether to buy the standard version now, or wait for a month or two for the deluxe version.

Laurens2017-11-04 09:25:18
In the original statement they announced a deluxe edition but when pre-orders came about, they posted an additionel statement saying that they had mistakenly announced the deluxe edition. So Iíd think it wonít happen but of course you can never be 100% sure.

Hybrid Soldier2017-11-04 10:08:44
No Deluxe.

Can anyone tell me why the Prague concert was decided to be the one the footage was shot at? Is it something to do with the whole orchestra? I some versions of Hans's ealrier work I see reference to "The City of Prague Philarmonic Orchestra", does Hans have close ties with this orchestra and choir or is it just coinsedence?

Listened to it a few times this week. I enjoyed it but the mix seems a bit of a mix bag for me. The orchestra seems too recessed and percussion in some tracks are over pronounced but itís still and enjoyable listen. It might be different on the blu ray

Amazon.uk main description says that Blu ray is region A only. In detailed description you can find it is All regions. But All regions is usually used for DVD format. Does anybody know what is right? Region A only or Region free(all regions)?

Ds2017-10-29 10:00:11
Yeah, I think something weird is going on. On Amazon.fr, they sell the CD and DVD but not the Bluray anymore.
I ordered mine in a shop, I hope there won't be any issue.

what was your favorite concert? mannheim, frankfurt or at the cinema?

Julian2017-10-03 02:18:13
My favourite was in Mannheim. The Mixing of the Sound in a Football Stadium, like it was in Frankfurt, is really hard. Sometimes you didn't recognize the Melody and the Mixing was bad. So i talked to other People there, if they had the same perception like me. And there were some people, who said, that they had the same feeling about the Sound. Later on, towards the second half of the concert, the Sound was good. But they needed some time to find the right mix for the location. So it wasn't a bad Concert and you also had the Highlihts with Trevor Horn and Lisa Gerrard but for the Mixing i prefer the Mannheim Concert in 2016. So for the Cinema. It's filmed in a classical Way. You don't have the experimental Concertfilm like Rammstein's Live in Paris Concert (you really have to see it) The Footage was very good. You get another point of view, another angles of the Stage and it was really interessting to see the people performing and how they react to each other. And also the Mixing of the Sound was really good. You noticed every Instrument in the right moment, really good job by the Producers. Overall i can say you should get the DVD or Blu Ray. It's a good Thing, if you missed the Live Show. But to be part of the Crowd in front of the Stage will always be the best way to experience Hans Music. And everytime i watched the show, i wanted to join the Band on the Stage and having a little Jam Session, even in the Cinema :D. So fucking great musicians and great Music.

Fizzbin2017-10-02 19:32:46
Itīs sad, that a lot of sources in the web are talking about, that the recording was made in June 2017. That was so wrong! And sad that Thelma & Louise was missing. But of course its a great show too. [And the best: I filmed for me the complete show at Frankfurt; with Trevor Horn,....and Lisa Gerrard] :)
