Most of the album is comprised of suites, with one consistent tempo per track.

The material that was scored to picture was scored using the risset rhythm technique, which gave a lot of those tracks their "infinitely getting faster" feeling in the film, so the tempo is always climbing in the film versions. The suites have a stable tempo (except for a couple normal tempo changes, which are different)Not really any... "Nothing Out There" contains the sad piano theme from Begins and Dark Knight, but otherwise the themes that get reprised are pretty much Hans stuff.

Speaking of credits, any chance the complete score page could be updated with what's out there and official?Could somebody tell me in what cues JNH's themes appear on album? Thanks MIKE, Any ideas of how can I Google it?Yeah, that cue was either a last minute rewrite or one of the music editors did it.... As for where you can find it...Google is your friend. But it's not going to be available anywhere officially.
I think it will be in between NOT ORDINARY CITIZEN / THE SLOW KNIFE and IMAGINE THE FIRE, Does anybody know where can I find it?
I noticed that this score doesn't has the soundtrack of the part where Blake is taking the people to the bridge and he is discusing with the other police officer before he blows the bridgeThat's right, I forgot about that... And I totally agree about the score vs. the album. I had no use for this score on album at first, but now that I've watched the movie a few times, I can really hear the logic behind the score and I "get it."

I still don't get the music as heard on album, though. Are the longer pieces some early suites Hans wrote? Or did he specifically make these arrangements for the album? Do you know the answer to that one, Hybrid?I wanna say I heard the full Cat Suite somewhere... I can't remember if it was legit, but it was 15:39 and it was indeed quite repetitive. It was basically the Selina Kyle Suite from the Z+ app, along with demos of several of the Catwoman-related cues in the final score. If you've listened through the score, you've basically heard the unreleased stuff.@Mike
Zimmer has said in interviews that he “mapped out” the film with one long piece of music to establish the changing tempo of the story, and apparently the script was written to capture the rhythmic feel of the film. So from the very beginning the story was always split up between the three.

I think a big part of the initial disappointment with the score was the album presentation, which gives off the impression that the music is just some sound design that Zimmer threw together (this is how I personally felt when I first gave it a listen). In actuality it’s a technically impressive score, I really can’t think of any other film score that is so synchronized with a film’s tempo and flows as one long piece of music. Apparently it was a nightmare for Hans, especially when the smallest edits to the film would ruin the flow.

Doing the 59-minute album was a pretty big disservice to the whole purpose of the music. If you remove one piece the whole thing falls apart, which is part of the reason the album feels so disjointed.
Anyone here listened "The Predator" FYC score?
Any chance to compare tracklist and running time with official release? These versions suites haven't been officially released, but maybe you can find them somewhere around the Internet unofficially.

As for the Cat Suite, the most important parts of it can be found in "Selina Kyle" (it's a shortened version of it actually) and "Mind if I cut in?" from the OST. I remember that Hybrid once said that the 15mins Cat Suite was too repetitive, that's why a 5min only version was released, so maybe you are just fine with those two.
Where can I listen to the Cat Suite? Or is it literally: Selina Kyle Theme?
The Mole P1 (0-1:57)
Regimental Brothers P1 (0-1:19)
The Mole P2 (1:57-3:44)
Regimental Brothers P3 (2:44 onward)
We Need Our Army Back
Shivering Soldier
Supermarine P1 (0-2:47)
The Mole P3 (3:45 onward)
We Need Our Army Back (again)
Supermarine P2 (*5:33)
Impulse
The Tide
Home
The Oil
Variation 15
End Credits

As everyone said already, the album is made up of suites that combine several cues and several "sounds" used in various places. For example, the is a sound in The Mole (At 2:05) that sounds like a fuse being ignited. This sound is actually right after The Tide in the film.
The only tracks that are almost identical to the film are: The Tide, Variation 15 and End Credits, the rest is different.

So if you were to order the tracks as first heard in the film it would be:
The Mole
Regimental Brothers
We Need Our Army Back
Shivering Soldier
Supermarine
Impluse
The Tide
Home
The Oil
Variation 15
End credits

As much as I enjoyed listening to this release, I wish they didn't butcher the score the way they did. I like the suites but there are so many great cues in this film that weren't released. If only they released an isolated score track on Blu-ray. Listening to film extracts is just not enough.I noticed that as well — the ticking goes all through the movie, except for the boat scenes, and only stops when they get on the train.

I wonder...could the film have originally been shot so that the beach, sea, and air sequences were there own arcs, and the longer album tracks were written for that? And then Nolan went in and turned the movie into the frenetic, constantly cutting-back-and-forth final product?

While the album is fine, I personally don't understand why we couldn't have just gotten the film cues. They might have had to stitch several together for each track, but it could have worked.
Does anyone know where you can get a digital version of the Japanese versions 2 bonus tracks?Comparing it to YFM’s sfx edit this is what I’ve got;

“The Mole” seems to be an alternate of the opening sequence. The first minute or so is used, while the rest isn’t. “We Need Our Army Back/Regimental Brothers” are both made up of several cues from different points in the film.
“Home” is completely different in the film, which makes me think it may have been recorded specifically for the album. Similar situation with “Oil”.
“Supermarine” is definitely a suite. The rest is chronological.

Interesting thing to note, it seems like a lot of the tempo changes/ticking effects/bass overlays were removed from the album release, making almost every track sound different from the actual film versions. The music in context has a constant pulse going, especially in the way cues segue into each other and change tempo. It's not really possible to chronologically order the album because the album doesn't use the same tracks as the movie. Plus, the album is more or less chronological anyway, given the areas where they are the same.
With the complete cue sheet out now. Just watched the BluRay last night. I have a 9.2 system but not Atmos. I seemed to notice that when they focused on individual instruments for featured "solos", the instrument did not stand out in the mix as I would have expected it to do. Also, some of the low end seemed a bit thick, almost like there was too much reverberation to each note. Beautifully filmed, but the mix left me a bit flat, seems like the sound engineer could have done a better job.

...2019-01-08 14:34:10
The sound of this show isn’t very good. You can’t really hear the performances like with for instance world of hans zimmer which is a much better concert, sound wise and in general IMO.

Mephariel2019-01-08 19:52:24
Agree 100%. The World of Hans Zimmer is so much better music wise than this show.

Ds2019-01-08 21:00:32
Couldn't disagree more about the bluray... The album version is mixed uniformly, but in the blu-ray I noticed a focus on instruments (and especially the choir) when they appear on screen. I thought it was actually very well mixed, a terrific sound overall. And this hybrid orchestral/rock/synth configuration is definitely something unique.
It was also acknowledged in the official review of blu-ray.com, which awarded the blu-ray 4/5 for picture and 5/5 for sound.
Some may say The World of HZ has a better sound, but in truth it just has a more orchestral/traditional sound. That's not better, that's simply different... but less original.

Mephariel2019-01-08 21:09:59
I don't think it is just more orchestral/traditional sound. I think the problem is, in Hans Zimmer live, the solo performances were stunning, but the bigger performances with layers lacked the players required to really bring the oomph out of the pieces. For example, I feel like in "Time," I couldn't hear the declaration of each note that made the cue so satisfying. Everything just blended together, especially when Russell added her vocals during the climax.

In pieces like Pirates where Guo and other artists had their chamber style performances, I really enjoyed that.

...2019-01-08 23:29:56
I’m sorry but mixing orchestra with rock is nothing new or original... it has been done before by loads of people and the sound is very commercial and not at all what I like about Zimmer’s music. World of Hans Zimmer has the music being performed the way I know it, like it was written.

HZ live was a nice attempt to bring in different audiences into the world of film music but other than that, it wasn’t a good concert in my opinion. Some things like rain Man, Madagascar and true Romance worked very well but as soon as there were “bigger” pieces being performed it all just got loud and didn’t sound like it should.

On the other hand, World of hans zimmer is a great concert and I can’t wait to see it again and buy the CD!

mellowjammer2019-01-16 21:40:49
I watched again and the "thickness" in some of the low end was in fact multiple kettle drums being rapidly pounded which in fact accounts for the excess reverberation and explains why it sounded muddy to me. I will have to get the "World of Hans Zimmer" recording that others are talking about and see if I like that one better.

This is the first official release of (part of) the Wayne Manor/Moody Bruce suite, isn't it?

Ds2017-11-07 20:31:03
Yes... except "officially" the TDK medley contains: Why So Serious? / Like A Dog Chasing Cars / Why Do We Fall / Introduce A Little Anarchy / The Fire Rises.
That's according to the booklet and the scene selection on the Blu-ray. And that's hilarious because selecting "Why Do We Fall" leads you right in the middle of the actual Like a Dog Chasing Cars, and "Introduce a Little Anarchy" leads you to the Moody Bruce segment.

They shouldn't have let the intern take care of the track list :-p

Hybrid Soldier2017-11-07 20:47:39
Not as laughable as POTC medley honestly...

They mixed up the Jack Sparrow suite with the film cue "Captain Jack Sparrow" and credited it to Hans & Trevor Morris... And credited the "One Day" as in the OST to Hans, Jackman, Gire & Sponsler while in fact, nothing from Gire/Sponsler is in that medley...

Who do they hire to do that ? Ask me ! I know my shit in cuesheet area ! lol

Michael Fields2017-11-08 05:44:10
But what about original suites for the third Pirates movie? I mean "New Love Suite" or "Marry Me" (written by Zimmer and Jackman). It's the same material, but slightly rearranged.

mittens2018-01-28 18:02:41
Yes, some really, really bad work on that part...

I hope to meet him one day

I have to say, I like the presentation of the Electro Suite on here. I feel the original was perhaps too long and repetitive, and so to me it benefits from the shorter length.

Waymann reply Replies: 2 || 2017-11-07 22:53:04
I listened to the digital version last friday and I didn’t think much of it. I liked it but I wasn’t blow away by it and didn’t feel the urge to listen to it again over the weekend. But today I finally received the blu-ray and watched it in my home theater and holy damn... The Dolby Atmos track truly makes this an experience. It’s like you are in the arena and the sound quality is impeccable. Also this killer Dolby Atmos track accompanied with the footage of the concert truly brings this whole thing alive. I think the blu-ray is the best way to experience this concert (again). No cd or LP will do the same.

I didn’t see this concert live but a few years ago I saw Hans Zimmer and his team play the Inception Medley live on the WSA concert in Belgium which was already an experience on it’s own. This concernt is the closed to what I experienced back then.

Marts2017-11-08 00:05:57
Yeah, you have to watch it and feel it. Listening to the digital CD does not do it justice. The audio/visual quality is awesome.

Mephariel2017-11-08 01:40:21
I listen to all the tracks on MP3 multiple times but I agree with you that the quality is pretty disappointing. I thought a lot of the recordings were too soft. The show is amazing with the visuals.

Frank reply Replies: 7 || 2017-11-04 07:27:27
I got some questions after reading the booklet.
1. Why does James Newton Howard get credit for The Dark Knight music? I thought those pieces were composed by Zimmer alone.
2. Why does Ryan Rubin and Alex Gibson, two music editors, get credits for Interstellar?

Brent2017-11-04 08:20:00
James gets a credit because he co-wrote (almost) all the major themes of TDK trilogy. The only piece Hans truly wrote himself (at least to my knowledge) is the Joker’s theme. TDKR was the only film in the franchise to not have James a part of it (although his themes remain).

Hybrid Soldier2017-11-04 10:10:40
No, it's because technically JNH is credited on every single cue of BB & TDK. But the suite is HZ's music.

And on some projects Hans gives cuesheet credits for Music Editors, especially Nolan films (they will get something like 2% of each cue), so they are the ones appearing in Interstellar cuesheet.

MuroFilm2017-11-04 19:30:03
Why isn’t Balfe credited ?

Mike (OTM)2017-11-04 19:38:27
He didn't do any of the music here, as far as I know.

Well, they didn't know Lisa would perform really. She only did originally in NZ and AUS in 2017, this was a long time before that. Maybe they didn't even know they would tour in 2017, it's fantastic we got this show, if we got Lisa it would have been another year before it came out.

I like all the tracks, but there are a few that are my highlights!
- chevaliers de sangreal (just simply beautiful)
- The lion king (childhood memories)
- you’re so cool (love the theme)
- journey to the line (small, but powerfull with a dash of epicness)
- electro suite (i like the agression)
- interstellar (altough i’m not very fond of the soundtrack)
-inception (time is my #1 track, what aan amazing piece of music)

I’m curious what your favorites are....

Marts2017-11-04 11:56:33
I have to say Pirates medley is my favourite, it's just epic and the violins are beautiful.

I like it all though. Personally Interstellar is my favourite soundtrack ever but it's a bit harder to do justice to it here without the huge organs. Lion King also, Lebo has such charisma and fills the whole place with energy!

Hybrid, will a deluxe edition for this album be released? I remember reading somewhere on a website that there would be, and I'm not sure whether to buy the standard version now, or wait for a month or two for the deluxe version.

Laurens2017-11-04 09:25:18
In the original statement they announced a deluxe edition but when pre-orders came about, they posted an additionel statement saying that they had mistakenly announced the deluxe edition. So I’d think it won’t happen but of course you can never be 100% sure.

dannyXXL2017-10-02 14:14:56
what was your favorite concert? mannheim, frankfurt or at the cinema?

Julian2017-10-03 02:18:13
My favourite was in Mannheim. The Mixing of the Sound in a Football Stadium, like it was in Frankfurt, is really hard. Sometimes you didn't recognize the Melody and the Mixing was bad. So i talked to other People there, if they had the same perception like me. And there were some people, who said, that they had the same feeling about the Sound. Later on, towards the second half of the concert, the Sound was good. But they needed some time to find the right mix for the location. So it wasn't a bad Concert and you also had the Highlihts with Trevor Horn and Lisa Gerrard but for the Mixing i prefer the Mannheim Concert in 2016. So for the Cinema. It's filmed in a classical Way. You don't have the experimental Concertfilm like Rammstein's Live in Paris Concert (you really have to see it) The Footage was very good. You get another point of view, another angles of the Stage and it was really interessting to see the people performing and how they react to each other. And also the Mixing of the Sound was really good. You noticed every Instrument in the right moment, really good job by the Producers. Overall i can say you should get the DVD or Blu Ray. It's a good Thing, if you missed the Live Show. But to be part of the Crowd in front of the Stage will always be the best way to experience Hans Music. And everytime i watched the show, i wanted to join the Band on the Stage and having a little Jam Session, even in the Cinema :D. So fucking great musicians and great Music.
