I think some pices of music was simillar to bane theme in dark knight rises. Isnt it ?Am I correct that the music used in the long flashback scène with Hester and Shrike is only sort of present in the final track "Alive and Together" ?So the complete score is now available on YouTube and it’s AWSOME. Particularly Escape through ParisDoes anyone have the chronological order yet?? That would be great!@MrZimmerFan

Gotta agree with you, I definitely think WW is a far stronger score. That’s not to say I think Aquaman is bad, but none of the themes have really impressed me at all. The orchestral/synth hybrid is pretty cool, but once again I think it was done far better with Thor: Ragnarok.

(Will say this though; “Black Manta” is a badass track)
First Impressions:

This might be one of the most “traditional” scores that Tom has scored at this point in his career. The strings/brass still have the signature JXL sound to them, but the music feels more mature when compared to something like Mad Max or even his most recent outings.

I’m still picking up on the themes as of now (the most obvious being the main fanfare and Hester’s tune) but the idea for Shrike is definitely a clear standout. Especially when it gets an emotional spin later on. The use of woodwinds and the operatic female solo vocals also are a nice addition.

Overall this has to be the biggest surprise of the year for me. Having sorta given up on Junkie after being disappointed by his output in the past few years I never expected him to write a fantasy score on this level (while still keeping one foot in his comfort zone of course). Hopefully more producers actually demand quality music from him, as opposed to the shit we got from
Tomb Raider and Deadpool.Great work.

I love Tom's aggressive and extreme way of mixing and bold use of percussion.

Glad to see him linked to Alita: Battle Angel tooI imagine iTunes and Spotify by Friday. The people commenting on it have likely heard a leaked version.Where can we listen this score ?It's a good score, nice blend between orchestra and synths.

But, i think WW is more interesting score
I'm listening right now, one of the best works by Tom, by far.

Beautiful choir, great action tracks (even there is a great renditions of the themes, Windflower with that version of Shrike's theme is gorgeous) and multiples themes.I'm guessing CONFESSIONS & REGRETS is Tom Sells out his Clone?I have done this for... so many things ! :PThanks so much!01 - THE ISLAND AWAITS YOU => 1M1 MAIN TITLES + 1M2 NIGHTMARE #1
02 - WHERE DO THESE TUBES GO? => 1M2 MISSING A SHOE + 4M24 ROUTE 39
03 - SECTOR 6 => 4M19C CENSOR CHASE PT 3 + 4M19D THE OUTSIDE WORLD
04 - STARKWEATHER => NOT IN MIXES (Album idea or suite idea ?) + 6M33H MVC PT 6 THE BIG R
05 - AGNATE UKULELES => 2M10 AGNATE UKULELES + 2M10B UKULELES 2 - ELECTRIC B
06 - YOU HAVE A SPECIAL PURPOSE IN LIFE => 3M14A RELEASING THE MOTH + 3M14B LIMA'S DEMISE
07 - MASS VEHICULAR CARNAGE => 1MD HEALTH CLUB (ALBUM SONG VERSION)
08 - RENOVATIO => 5M32B TRACKING THE CLONES
09 - I'M NOT READY TO DIE => 3M15 STARKWEATHER'S DEMISE (EDITED)
10 - THIS TONGUE THING'S AMAZING => 7M43 THIS TONGUE THING'S AMAZING + 6M38 CONFESSIONS & REGRETS
11 - MASS WINNINGS => 7M44 MASS WINNINGS + 7M45 RETURN TO INSTITUTE + 7M45 RETURN TO INSTITURE PT 2
12 - THE CRAZIEST MESS I'VE EVER SEEN => 3M16-17 A PRODUCT ON THE LOOSE + 3M18A CENSOR CHASE PT 1
13 - SEND IN THE CLONES => 5M29 TRAIN STATION CHASE + 5M31-32 IN LA - CALVIN KLEIN
14 - MY NAME IS LINCOLN => 8M52 THE END OF MERRICK

;)
Hybrid is it possible that you could do a crossreference of what cues here = the ones on album like you did for King Arthur and Transformers 4?And maybe there's too much synth work in both cause... Andrew K worked on both ?! lolMothersbaugh isn't the only person out there to use 80s synth, you know. You are after all, on the website named after perhaps the greatest pioneer of it in terms of film music.

Also, there is nothing about this film that screams "Thor Ragnarok" ripoff. If anything, the appropriate place to compare is Black Panther- however, as Aquaman and his mythology predates Black Panther by several years, that argument is rendered moot.

Sure, we have regal similarities (king, set in kingdom, evil half brother) but it literally ends there. The story is quite basic, but nowhere like Ragnarok in its entirety. Ragnarok was about two brothers putting aside their differences to stop their evil sister from unleashing Ragnarok itself, whilst Aquaman is about Arthur Curry being forced to reconnect with his Atlantean heritage, and it's explicitly a quest for him to clear Atlantis from a corrupt, purist ruler who wants to hurt the surface world because of how the humans have been mistreating the seas. Aquaman is very much its own thing, and it doesn't need any such comparisons. And I bet, it will stomp past Ragnarok at the box office overall.

the main theme is quite similar to Jackman's Kingsman ( the first three note)

andd..

I assume it is the studio's mandate for RGW to go (and adapt..or imitate?) Mothersbaugh's Ragnarok with its 80s synth.

----

Having seen the movie, i understand why RGW chose the 80s style, because basically, Aquaman is Thor Ragnarok underwater.
Dont get me wrong, the visual spectacle is amazing and colorful ( in a good way), some of the cinematography is downright breathtaking,but i really did have a hardtime enjoying this movie in its fullness beacuse the blatant Ragnarok ripping-off here and there.., and dont get me started on the story...
Really, the visual did the heavy lifting in this movie ( and it succeeded in overcoming the weak storyline)Um, is there a freaking Pitbull remix of Africa on here? What the heck?

I read somewhere that Atli is going to score Mortal Engines, is it true? That would be really awesome

Interesting to note that the best track here is not actually by Atli, but rather Dmitri Golovko'S "Amsterdam Chase" (which really should be bolded as well since it's part of the score). A pretty cool action cue in the style of Daniel Pemberton's Man from UNCLE score from a couple years ago. I've never heard of the composer, so I wonder how it is he came out of nowhere to write the highlight here?

He was the original composer on the film

Tomorrow the pre-order is available on iTunes with track 3 as an instant download which sounds mostly like rock music. Think we can expect something like The Nice Guys.
