Maybe it's a faulty credit?
"House Call v1-23697 - Penka Kouneva, BMI" This is the copyright claim I found on a compilation video I made of Jablonsky's music. This claim is where "Vocation" from IDEA plays. Can someone please explain this? I have not been able to find this track Jablonsky (I guess?) ripped off.Edmund ! For YOU !! lolthis one is my pick for the oscar as well. hope it wins : )When will this tracklist be leaked?I heard and thought that Zimmer stopt scoring superhero movies (including Justice League and what comes after) because it has taken 13 years of his life and he wanted to do something else
Were the two men no longer talking or did Zimmer anticipate Snyder's departure as he did in Pirates?@Olive: Rumors says Zimmer didn't want compose Justice League because of Snyder, and left behind JunkieI agree that Elfman's theme fits into Nolan's films as long as they are adapted to them. However, I think the way things have gone was not bad. TDK trilogy was marked as a project fruit of Nolan's unique vision. Although the themes do not respect the orchestral tradition are more memorable than those composed for more than half of the films of heroes of the last 25 years.Zimmer's entry into the genre can be interpreted as a breath of fresh air in a saturated marketplace at the time. But I agree that the lack of originality these days falls on Zimmer and his company and that the goal of it goes far beyond bringing talents to light.Now we need something new, again.@Hybrid any news on Season 2 soundtrack release?Of cause Balfe worked on it !!! His whole team are credited !!!!!!!
Honestly, the purpose of RCP is essentially to take Zimmer's style and make it widespread for use...WB not using ANY RCP to score this seems to have been deliberate, as there's literally no reason it couldn't be done.^ hahaha :D<br><br>I think you're forgetting that Balfe also ghostwrote The Lord of the Rings?They're starting to send screeners. Finger crossed for the FYC :DThe score reflects the situation of DC movies very well. If Zimmer, like Snyder, continued, the result may not please everyone. A lot of people were unhappy with Snyder's work in the genre, just as many fans of soundtrack were with Zimmer's contributions that never followed the path taken by all the other composers who came before him.<br><br>The two left (regardless of the reason that led them to do this).<br><br>When Zimmer left everyone knew that XL would not hold the pressure or that the result would not be satisfactory for most.<br><br>When Elfman and Whedon were announced we all knew that they were hired to go against everything DC has done before to try to reach the first film of the franchise to reach 1 billion. Even if they were to follow Marvel's script and drop their originality.<br><br>But the hiring of Elfman and Whedon shows that the studio was long lost. Snyder succumbed to BvS. The only salvation for the DCEU are the solo films like Wonder Woman, the next Batman, Aquaman ...and freedom. Freedom for the directors, composers... Warner has always had this advantage over Marvel.@Edmund <br>Given the chance I think Junkie probably could deliver a pretty fun score that stayed thematically consistent with the current universe. It all depends on what the studio/director wants out of the music. The biggest disappointment to me is that this was a huge missed opportunity to do a heroic take on Zimmer’s Superman theme, something we haven’t heard since MoS. Hell, even the trailers did that.... -_-

i listened to Blade Runner. for that, i want to take a minute to say my deepest admiration for Ben Wallfisch for his collaboration with Hans Zimmer (Ben is truly amazing!).

i came back to this soundtrack after Blade because i needed to understand. and after that, i went back to Batman v Superman, Inferno, and Rush.

now, i understand. i think understand it all. where the music is going, in my own uneducated opinion. and i am very happy to live in this day and age with such great composers.

i wish i can meet you all one day and tell you in person all the things i have found and discovered that make me so happy.

love you all : )

I'm working on my own version of "The Mole", "Escaping The Mole", or whatever the long warped/over music edited tension cue is named.

nightly demos will be posted every day until I finish it, but it sounds fine now if you "must have" it.

Hi Hybrid!
Don't know where else to post this but do you know more about Andrew K's involvement in the thor ragnarok score? I also saw that it was mixed by Alan Meyerson; did RCP did a rescue mission there?
And still about Andrew, do you know if there are any plans for a release of his score for sky hunter?
Thanks ;)

He worked on Thor... I have honestly no more info...

As for Sky Hunter, there are talks about a soundtrack release, if that happens of course you'll know about it here !

matthew reply Replies: 3 || 2017-10-16 17:03:53
as a giant fucking fan of this movie, I can't put it into words just how lazy is this presentation of the actual music.

it annoys the shit out of me when I read comments on youtube, Itunes, Amazon and also here, like whats the opening music? and the stupid answer is from everybody: "oh yeah, you're looking for The Mole, thats the opening scene!" well, fuck, the movie opens with The Mole, but it goes on for only 2 minutes, and the rest 4 minutes is unused, and the actual 4 minutes after 2 minutes, from the opening is unreleased. it is a minor fact that seems 100% unnoticed by every person. because the music is non-stop in the film, I consider the opening from the logos, until we arrive to the beach.

Shivering Soldier is the first track that appears "as used in the film" form on the release.

Supermarine is a misleading action suite released before the premiere, because of marketing purposes, I think the studio was a bit scared, so they wanted to demonstrate that this is more of a summer blockbuster than a black and white war movie.

Home is the classic "different version in film" case, only to give Hybrid Soldier the chance to come here and give a defense speech about how Zimmer, Nolan, and every soul at warner bros, at water tower music, at remote control and every world-class star status earned professionals in hollywood couldn't make the "as used in film" presentation dream come true. the "no the time for caution" event is still comes hilariously amature from a creative business built on the words: "Make it happen"

mpolonest123 2017-10-16 19:38:03
If they decide to release a proper FYC hopefully that will contain the film order/versions/unreleased/etc.

But I do agree, this is one of those scores that is tremendously improved by the film flow. Honestly I never understood the thinking behind putting out an album if you aren’t going to use the full 79 minutes it allows. Especially when you are missing cues which are vastly different from what’s presented. Why “Escape From Ship” or “No Time For Caution” weren’t there to begin with confuses me.

Max Potcats2017-10-16 22:58:07
You're right, matthew, but i'd said everyone here is used to this kind of album release with HZ/RCP, like The Thin Red Line or Inception with a lot of suites and not so much of the actual movie score. Personally i don't mind because I know the full score will be release some day and I really enjoy suites. However, I'm afraid there is nothing else to do that wait.

ps : i think Hans or RCP has no right to publish a full score (even they own), it's up to the studio--

Ahmad2017-10-17 17:07:40
I totally agree with you. I was let down when I first heard the album. It's great but it's a selection of the score. I feel like they could've done a better job crafting the album.
Hell, something experimental like releasing the music as it is as a long (digital) track would've been interesting.

I think what made it difficult for them is how the tempo changes all the time, which might have resulted in an unpleasant listening experience (I think that might have been their point of view). For example, in the movie, the tempo of the cue "Home" changes a lot and some layers are taken out while the album version has a constant tempo.

Unfortunately, the number of people who noticed how unsatisfying this release is, is quite small, so there won't be anything official. Once again, we have to wait for leaks or bootlegs.

Tom reply Replies: 5 || 2017-10-03 16:37:33
I hate to be a party pooper here, but IMHO Dunkirk is a horrible soundtrack. Just a couple of sustained dissonant chords played over and over and over, ad nauseum. I mean come on Hans, can't you write beautiful and epic melodies anymore? This movie screamed for an epic theme that never materialized.

Now I know I am about to be attacked by all the die-hard Zimmer drones here but I'm just voicing my opinion. I long for the days when you could always count on Hans to deliver goose bump inducing epic memorable themes.

Waymann2017-10-03 16:57:24
I will not attack you but I don't agree that this film screamed for an epic main theme. Dunkirk is an expensive indiefilm, not Hacksaw Ridge or Saving Private Ryan. I think it was pretty clear from the beginning that this would be a more atmospheric score. Be prepared for Blade Runner 2049 this friday. It will be just the same.

Ahmad2017-10-03 16:58:58
"I mean come on Hans, can't you write beautiful and epic melodies anymore? This movie screamed for an epic theme that never materialized."

I hate to be the first one to break this down for you...

but maybe, just maybe, the guy who is in charge doesn't want that? If Nolan wanted an epic melodic theme, Zimmer would've written one. What part of collaboration you people don't understand?
It's not Zimmer's film it's Nolan's, he liked the score PERIOD.
You don't like it? that's okay, but it's perfect as it is and it served the film well. #TrollHarder

Ahmad2017-10-03 17:06:51
Wow that last line came off rude.
There are many ways and approaches to score a film and it makes me sad that some people want the same thing over and over again.

Although I disagree with you, I respect your opinion @Tom

Ds2017-10-03 17:40:08
Hans himself said that this score was more like "music by Christopher Nolan".

Christopher Nolan himself said this score had to be frustrating for Zimmer because his hands were tied for the whole process.

Der-Profl2017-10-03 21:40:27
What I like about humans is, that everyone has a different taste of music. It would be so boring if everyone would like the same. So, you don't like it, Tom, it's okay and I'm fine with that, and I like the score pretty damn much, cause it represents for me the pure sound of suspense, what the film also is, pure suspense. The score suits the film so well, that it is a great score. For me, of course!

Snivette reply Replies: 0 || 2017-09-27 02:21:17

@Spectre So many. Take a look at the list "Team" above. They are 30% to 40% of the total.

@Brion He has his own projects now, man.

Callahan2017-09-06 12:03:38
@Spectre I firmly believe they do not all work in the same place, as the Powell and HGW assistants are considered part of the RCP.

Peter2017-09-06 12:24:17
If it beats Ghost In The Shell then it will be great because Lorne made a score that was a perfect blend synthesizers and an orchestra

Andrew2017-09-06 21:41:14
I doubt it will beat Ghost

Saurabh2017-09-06 21:59:43
Blade Runner isn't just synthesizers and some strings like Ghost in the Shell, although the synthesizer is the most identifiable thing in terms of music. The LA in the first Blade Runner was a melting pot of different cultures which was represented musically in tracks such as Damask Rose, Tales of the Future and in various scenes throughout the movie. If anything, it has a scope for tremendous diversity and musical richness if the composers choose to tap into that idea.

I'd recommend starting off with a score like Crimson tide or Unstoppable by Harry gregson-Williams. That''I'll give a general idea to what the RCP style. Another suggestion would be National Treasure by Trevor Rabin and all of John Powell and Steve Jablonsky's works.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it! Loving all this music so far.

Mike (OTM)2017-08-09 22:51:42
Some of my essential Zimmer...

1990s/early 2000s:

—Crimson Tide + The Rock + The Peacemaker (all in the same style)
—The Last Samurai
—Gladiator
—Broken Arrow
—The Prince of Egypt
—Pirates of the Caribbean 1-3
—The Lion King
—Muppet Treasure Island
—Beyond Rangoon

Mid-2000s/2010s:

—Batman Begins + The Dark Knight + (if you listen to the complete score and the unreleased suites) The Dark Knight Rises
—Kung Fu Panda 1-3 (though his presence was more muted on the second one...)
—Sherlock Holmes, the first
—Angels and Demons
—Interstellar
—Inception (I know, I know...BWAAAAAAAAM)
—The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (inventive score in a comparatively stagnant era for Hans...)

And this is missing a whole lot, too. But it should get you somewhere.

Macejko2017-08-10 12:10:10
Unvelievable that the release is once again this botched. There are at least two absolutely crucial and intense cues missing; instead we get two unnecessary variations of Supermarine. Goddammit...

Macejko2017-08-10 12:22:26
Sorry, wanted to make it as a separate post.

meta2017-08-10 14:09:47
what pieces might those be? Supermarine was intercut throughout the film...and I don't recall another piece outside of OIL or Home

Macejko2017-08-10 14:28:43
What I have in mind is the intesifying cue at the very beginning (ends with Mr. Dawson's boat leaving harbour/planes breaking formation - very memorable moment IMHO) and then the nerve-wreckig music that plays during the first drowning sequence (it gets repeated once again later in the film). I was disappointed to found neither on the album.

Meta2017-08-11 01:55:47
You got good ears because I honestly couldn't tell the difference....Much of it to me sounded like Oil when it wasn't sounding like Supermarine, and then if it wasn't sounding like Shivering Soldier, it was sounding like Variation 15 or the Mole....

bro2017-08-11 05:56:11
It's not a matter of good ears, it's a really long, different and really good cue. It's probably the best cue in the movie.

Ahmad2017-08-11 11:37:16
That cue is too good not to be on the album! It starts with a short string variation of the first 2 minutes of Supermarine then slowly turns into a variation of the last three minutes of "The Mole". So it's a hybrid of Supermarine and The Mole.

I was surprised by how different the film version of "Home" was.

mpolonest123 2017-08-11 14:50:25
@macjeko I could be wrong but the drowning cue sounded like a more intense, extended version of that tension build riff at 2:12 in "Despair" from TDKR. I'm sure that the studio will put out an fyc for the score, much like they did interstellar...

badbu2017-08-11 15:38:41
@mpolonest123 i hope so!!! :-) they drop the fyc (interstellar) 1 month after the movie, right?

mpolonest123 2017-08-11 16:40:27
@badbu Usually they drop the fyc closer to awards season. If I had to guess, probably November or December. That is if it still can qualify for an award (considering the main theme is an existing piece of music/more than one composer is credited)

Backbiter2017-08-12 17:46:22
I con not believe that no one has putted the King Arthur's Soundtrack

Kingfannypack2017-08-13 06:26:08
I feel embarassed to ask, but what is RCP?

isildur2017-08-13 10:50:42
Remote Control Productions. It's Hans' film score company.

Anonymous2017-08-13 17:03:17
More like his studio than "company"

James2017-08-13 20:34:40
The "budget meeting" piece is really so much funny!

SPECTER2017-08-14 04:27:36
For Hans this the best list you'll find. Only his most Elite and melodical scores are on this list.

Crimson Tide
The Rock
The Prince of Egypt
Gladiator
The Last Samurai
King Arthur
Tears of the Sun
Pirates of the Carribean 1-3
Interstellar
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight
Man of Steel
Chappie

Mephariel2017-08-14 06:27:42
@Specter

I am sorry, you want a list with Zimmer's most elite and melodical scores and you left out:

Beyond Rangoon
The Lion King
Driving Miss Daisy
Angels and Demons

and instead...put Chappie? I mean, I like Chappie, but come on...

Ds2017-08-15 00:43:51
I'll never understand why so many people dismiss Chappie. I think it's a brilliant score, as interesting as it is entertaining. It's very melodic in a typical HZ fashion, the electronics sounds partly modern, partly old school, and it's got some fantastic cues. Really, one of my favorites HZ scores in the last few years.

Meta2017-08-15 02:39:50
Are you kidding me? Chappie I consider MILES above Dunkirk, and even Inferno last year...

Best of 2015....

badbu2017-08-15 07:21:27
saw chappie last week for the first time. what a bad movie...jesus...the score is okay but nothing special

mpolonest123 2017-08-15 22:41:58
Yeah, Chappie really is one of the Z-Man's best scores as of late. For all the talk he does of innovating, both TASM2 and Chappie are pretty fresh as compared to BVS/Inferno/Dunkirk.

And yes, the film itself is a hot mess...

SPECTER2017-08-17 00:38:45
I just want to say that if CHAPPiEs score had been done with an orchestra or were to be remade with a live orchestra it would instantly become a hit.

Edmund Meinerts2017-08-17 08:37:54
If Chappie were redone with a live orchestra it would miss the point of that score entirely. And I'm saying that as someone for whom Zimmer's synth overdubs are an irritation most of the time...but that score is electronic at heart and soul, don't mess with it.

FaresTdkr2017-08-27 16:26:32
Hello I will suggest this albums in order:
Hans Zimmer:{all complete scores! Not original motion picture }
1:interstellar{complete 53 track score}

5:Pirates of the Caribbean 2,3 complete scores.
6:Lone ranger {rarely found complete score but there is one}
7:man of steel{General Zod theme}

Armand Amar{the most underestimated composer}
Every thing by armand Amar I have all his discography and never get enough from his work every year I wait for his release...

Than go to "human"
Than La Terre vue de ciel"
After that you can decide if you want all the discography "I bet you will".
STEVEN PRICE:
1:Gravity
2:Fury
3:the Hunt{better to get Flac}
STEVE JABLONSKY:
TRANSFORMERS FIVE COMPLETE SCORES.
Other Composer you may want to check:
Danny Bensi{LA 92;The Gift}
Nick cave and warren ellis{The assassination of jessy james by the.."
Toygar Isikli!
Ilan Eshkeri {47 Ronin score}

Edmund Meinerts2017-08-27 17:04:34
Armand Amar is a very good composer, but nothing to do with RCP...

SPECTER reply Replies: 1 || 2017-08-27 03:57:14
I love HZ and friends but I don't understand how their is so much discussion for this score. There was nothing melodical or memorable about this score to me. Interstellar, Chappie, Pirates 5, Transformers are superior listening experiences IMO.

Edmund Meinerts2017-08-27 15:33:48
There's lots of discussion because it's a Nolan/Zimmer scores and those are always Events with a capital E. I'm sure when Ferdinand by Powell comes it it will be a wonderful score and get about four comments (three of which will be by yours truly).

Frank reply Replies: 2 || 2017-08-26 23:56:04
Interesting to see the Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds is among Hans's thanking list. Did he actually participate in this project in any way?

...2017-08-27 09:24:17
No, but I'm pretty sure that Zimmer used some samples from a sample library that Olafur created with a company (those guys are also thanked here).

Kusi2017-08-27 10:47:29
o_O I didn't notice that. His Broadchurch scores are awesome :)

Der-Profl reply Replies: 3 || 2017-08-25 20:38:28
Does anyone know, if we will get some of the missing cues as bonus tracks in the future, for example the track when the start to carry the soldier to the mole? Or do we have to rip it from the movie like Nolan said in one of his interviews?

...2017-08-25 22:15:23
That cue is actually on the ost but it's a shortened alt (second part of the mole). The film version starts with the repeated notes played by the violin which then becomes faster and builds throughout! Let's hope there is a FYC like interstellar

Der-Profl2017-08-26 00:24:50
Yeah, I know, that it's in a shortened alternetive version there, but I love the build-up with the violin so much, that I want to have the film version of this cue.
Another cue which is missing and I want to have is the theme when a ship is sinking. I mean the sirene sounds that hit me really hard in the IMAX theatre and I thought wow. It's not a track which is really beautiful and worth listening over and over, but I think it's essential to the movies climax. The movie tiself is not really beautiful itself, too, because it's a war movie. (I hope you know what I want to say, because I'm a German and my ways to express myself in English is limited to a minimum I learned in school.)
And I have question to your reply, "...": What do you mean with FYC?

Waymann2017-08-26 12:07:24
FYC means For Your Consideration... Composers send in their scores to be nominated for the oscars and something missing cues end up in the tracks they provide the academy.

The cue you are talking about is definitly not on the OST. I have seen the film 4 times now and every time I think damn it's pitty this is not on the score instead of track 2.

Great Work, Hans Zimmer

giles2017-08-05 14:33:05
Yep that post ^^^ pretty much sums up the already infamous Nolan fanboys. Delusional, illiterate teenagers who consider every movie this British hack makes to be DA BEST EVAAA. Can these kids be even more delusional and stupid? Doubt it. Oh and yes this score is one of Hans' weakest scores and he even knows it. Yet another example of how he's abusing his talent by working for that Nolan guy. Hans, if you're reading this, please go back to working with actual talented directors like Ridley Scott. What you and Ridley have accomplished is legendary. Do another one with him. And now cue the remaining 7 hardcore Nolan fan nerds who will start telling me how great that hack is by quoting critics and RT scores that no sane person cares about, and how I know nothing about film and film music.

Ds2017-08-05 15:02:47
Did you just reply to JackAfrogarrix? :-D

Joshua2017-08-05 20:53:17
@Ds LOL My thoughts exactly.

giles2017-08-05 21:30:53
Pay attention to what I said in my comment, not who I replied to. The stuff I said are 100% true, the entire world knows how dangerously stupid and ignorant these teen Nolan fannerds are, so don't try to avoid the topic by talking about other things.But if you're a butthurt Hack Nolan fanboy you would do anything to avoid the truth.Bet you also think this is the greatest HZ film score.

Ds2017-08-06 00:28:11
giles: please calm down, actually you are the one who sounds "butthurt" here. I have nothing against this movie, I actually liked it, even though it's far from Nolan's best. But it was too funny seeing such a serious and vehement anti-Nolan post right in reply to a standard Jack Afrogarix comment. Please have a look at the other soundtrack pages on this site, and learn to know this guy, you'll see he's not a Nolan fanboy. He's just... Jack Afrogarix.

Meta2017-08-06 01:40:05
Now, I don't think Nolan is a HACK. To me his movies are pretty much any storyline disassembled and put in different places, like a puzzle, to make the movie more nuanced and such. Which is nice, if you're into that kind of shit and are bored of straightforward storytelling antics...Tarantino does this sort of thing and many find it refreshing.

Still, I don't think he's a GOD either, because take away those little twists and turns that he does and you've got, again, a straightforward story which is much like any other story or movie...and if it wasn't for say, Zimmer and company, he may not have gotten such recognition as he's had over the years, so I don't think it's ALL his own doing.

I will say, however, he's no M. KNIGHT SHAMALAYAN.

James2017-08-06 02:39:57
Nolan interferes, but has never been decisive about the sucess of MV/RCP. On the other hand, Bruckheimer and co. Always have been.

But that doesn't deny nolans importance to zimmers career. He has been his refuge in recent years

Meta2017-08-06 14:25:08
Oh I agree, James. Bruckheimer before him, and now Nolan. Nothing wrong with that...I'd rather work with people who I dig than people I don't dig. But from all the Zimmer scores I've heard over the years I can tell when it's a listenable experience or just sound design. This one is more sound design than the former. I suppose Nolan grants him the leeway to experiment?

Anyway, I don't listen to Dunkirk unless I want to feel intense anxiety for over an hour...That's not exactly a good listening experience for me.

James2017-08-06 15:43:33
In a interview Hans said that score is a result of the work of a one man: Nolan, who led his hands and the other guys who worked with him. He said too that is the most collaborative work of his entire career. I think thatmeans a lot.

James2017-08-06 15:47:29
I think the director's choices prevaleid here.Nolan even apologizes for making the musicians play pieces so unattractives. Lol

James2017-08-06 16:37:35
Thank you,man!
