Yeah, I always thought that would be the case for the Academy Awards. Don't know about others but if it's not eligable for the Oscars I can't see Disney submitting it for consideration at any other awards either. Could be wrong - I have the vague notion BATB got an FYC despite being ineligable.

Best thing to hope for is either a leak of the 'sessions' or a future official expanded score release.John Powell composing the eternals would be a dream come true. It’d be so amazing. I also want Lorne to compose a super hero movie but he has yet to do one which is very odd considering how popular he isvery underrated score - you can't change my mindHenry Jackman seems to be composing Black Widow, it's great news. The bad thing is that Joseph Trapanese composes The Eternals, would have preferred Powell or has one of the Gregson Williams brothers (preferably Harry).Zimmer himself confirmed on Facebook that this score wouldn't be eligible.
What a beautiful score... The 'Opening Titles' is probably one of HG-W's best dramatic pieces. Very beautiful and haunting, and overall a great showcase of Harry's dramatic sensibilities. I remember reading somewhere that he's very proud of this score, and it's not hard to understand why if you listen to it.but the lion king is preexisting music that has previously won an Oscar. I don’t see that happening againHave you listened to Star Wars: The Last Jedi?
That was nominated and had tons of pre-existing musicI'd be very surprised if Disney submits an FYC for this score. Surely it would fall afoul of the "too much pre-existing music" rule and they wouldn't even bother.Maybe we get a FYC album
The Guardian confirmed it. Oct 27. Great if there is a album release at the time."All the time"? I'm pretty sure this is my first comment on a Balfe score this year.Just watching this movie again, and I hope that someday they will release an expanded score editionEdmundo - you always stalk anyone complimenting a Balfe project for some reason?

Really boring your negative comments all the timeEdmund what is wrong with you ? Using childish language is pathetic. “Jizzing” is an idiotic term.If some of us like his music the why does it irritate you.You sound like a jealous failed composer always complaining when he releases a soundtrack.
Why do the Balfe loveres waste so much time jizzing over his music. Always comes of [sic] sounding like a 13-year-old fanboy discovering the internet for the first time I think. Why do the Balfe haters waste so much time moaning about his music.Always comes of sounding like an ex bitter employe I think.Gemini is as good as Fallout but it’s very cool.Great film with a classic soundtrack.one of the best action soundtracks this year. The film was though a bit slow and one one good action scene.and yet again, a half-baked score like every other score of him :(Cool music in this film and some of the best action sequences I have ever seen.lorne is the best at action music

Hey Hybrid, is it true that Atli is scoring Peter Jackson's Mortal Engines movie? That would be fucking dope.

Edmund Meinerts2017-12-22 18:13:22
Ooooooooh. That would be awesome.

Edmund Meinerts2017-12-22 18:14:30
Maybe he got hired by accident because they thought it was a sequel to Mortal Instruments?

isildur2017-12-23 19:50:33
lol Edmund!

Hey Hybrid, soundtrack.net & IMDB list Atli as the composer for Hitman's Bodyguard, is it true?

Hybrid Soldier2017-06-18 12:21:17
Yes !

isildur2017-06-18 13:21:34
Oooh! All out action score from Atli. I love it. Now that Lorne is getting more mainstream projects it's high time Atli got some too. He's got so much talent.

Felix2017-06-18 13:59:32
It's really great, but Atli's Scores don't get ever a release...look on all the great TV scores....also don't get releases....

Edmund Meinerts2017-06-18 14:19:49
There's a difference between the fifth season of some generic cop show not getting a score release, and the score to a fairly high-profile action movie (a situation like Ghost in the Shell notwithstanding). I can't think of many Atli film scores that never got an album. Wouldn't worry about this one.

The prodigal son returns! I like Atli a lot, sad that he doesn't get the same sort of assignments that Balfe/Djawadi/Jackman do. But this sounds pretty good!

Epic work by Atli! For me one of his best.

Edmund Meinerts2016-11-07 15:57:22
It's nice to listen to, but I don't really think it's one of his best. It makes for a better album than e.g. The Eagle, Babylon A.D. or Season of the Witch, but there are individual themes and moments in those scores that far outshine anything in Bilal (there's nothing here to rival "Crusades", "Babylon Requiem" or "The Return of the Eagle"). And I don't think it's anywhere near Mortal Instruments, which is his best overall score so far.

Still, like I said, it's a decent score and nice to hear from a guy who's been MIA for so long. Just not the glorious return I had hoped for.

For those "shocked" by Inferno, here's some excellent old school adventure score by Atli. :)

isildur2016-10-14 03:43:24
I still don't understand why Atli doesn't get some nice, big projects. He has so much talent. Liked the suit. I hear a bit of Prince of Egypt, which is a good thing.

Anonymous2016-10-14 08:52:36
I was not shocked. Just disappointed to be proved again that Zimmer lost his touch to write decent, memorable music.

Morgan Joylighter2016-10-28 05:45:56
RE:Anonymous, he has done no such thing. Interstellar was only two years ago. And the second half of Inferno contains plenty of music which is AT LEAST decent, but it seems most people are tuning out before they get to the good stuff. Zimmer fans these days are so spoiled...twenty years ago the same score would have been considered mind-blowingly epic. How many times does the poor man have to reinvent himself before fans will be satisfied?

Morgan Joylighter2016-10-28 05:46:47
And I'll add he simply hasn't been hired to write the "memorable" music recently. You can't accuse him of losing his touch for simply doing his job as he is asked.

Edmund Meinerts2016-10-28 11:01:35
That's the thing - he doesn't have to reinvent himself every time, in my eyes. I wish he would sometimes just kick back and do what he does best.

Also, a lot of the "decent" stuff in the back half of Inferno is only so because it's straight reprises of DVC and A&D.

Anonymous2016-10-29 11:36:55
Exactly. Recent years he tried to pull a Madonna. Change and experimentation for the sake of experimentation and looking and sounding like 'I am so edgy, I still have it'.

Like every artists his best work was in the middle part of his carreer.

The good stuff he releases recently are usually rehashes or reprises of magnificent works he wrote many years ago.

Also Hans used to be special with his synthy approach years ago. But these days every videgame, movie or trailer has it so it is total not special or exciting anymore.

But each has their own opinion :p

As for Bilal. Awesome work!
