Lovely score with beautiful themes, atmospheric vocal parts and a nice orchestration. This is a highly underrated album. It's nothing short of a masterpiece, a modern opera. The choir is beautiful, and the choice of gospel for the first track gives it a unique identity, though I'm not sure how well it meshes with the orchestra. It feels a bit off, but will hopefully improve for me on further listens.

The composition, has to me, elevated Powell to the status of the second best living composer (Williams is still first for now). It's pure orchestral beauty and mastery with variety of texture, color, and style, with seamless tonal transitions. The complexity rivals some of the great works of the past.

It's strange to me that this is called "choral works". Sure the choir is an important element, but it really should be named "Hubris Symphony", or "Hubris: The Opera", because that's the status the album deserves. My Attempt at a chronological order with edits (feel free to correct any mistakes or if I missed anything)

1. Change Of Plan (Unused) (5:47)Rogue One is a bit of an odd one. From what I'd heard, Desplat had joined on the condition he'd be allowed to do his own thing and not ape Williams. But once they decided to overhaul the film, they pressured him to go that exact direction. Things stayed still for a while (in which he still got paid) before he was finally let go very late into production. So the idea he sorta just left is interesting, so I'm curious to hear what that was about.

For BW, it seems very likely to me that Marvel simply were unsure about Alexandre's music, so I'm guessing they hired Balfe to do some demos and decided from there. Who knows what the exact timeline is, but I'd wager it'd have to at least be this year if he's been on it a bit. Especially with AD's name having stayed on the posters during it.Hybrid, Desplat left Rogue One just for his own idea? I know he left that movie beacuse schedule conflict for the reshoots.
But for Black Widow seems that the replacement was since months ago with Lorne writing and recording the score at the same time

Yup, which makes me wonder if they had to wait before announcing it, considering Desplat was still being listed in posters prior to the delay.I think Lorne teased this some time ago by sending a picture of researching Russian music on insta (maybe)Hello,

I'm looking for the translation of the song God Yu Tekkem Laef Blong Mi in English of French.

Could anyone help me ?

Thank you !you can't, it's only an info for the complete scoreAccording To, it Is true Lorne Balfe Is Scoring Black Widow.

Wow this guy Is the Best, this is the first time balfe scoring an MCU since Iron Man(worked as an additional music). OMG! Just listened to the samples, and by god is this even music? Hans why are you doing this, first BvS and now Inferno. I sure hope Dunkirk will be better.

Bro2016-10-08 13:40:22
There are a few tracks that seem promising. I couldn't say the same about BvS. What's the problem?

Rodhamine1232016-10-08 13:58:46
Most of the time it's just sound design, maybe 3 tracks look promising the rest though... I didn't expect another DVC but just some actual music not just a wall of sound xd

0-^-02016-10-08 14:30:35
Not my cup of tea at all. Team Z certainly didn't write this one with the fans of the first two scores in mind.

Ds2016-10-08 15:01:41
You are stating the obvious, of course they didnt write it for the fans! They wrote it for the director and to serve the movie itself. The purpose of a film score is not to release a new album for the fans :-D

Ds2016-10-08 15:24:31
Also if you are a fan of HZ you should know by now that he likes to experiment and produce all kinds of music, sometimes in the most unconventional ways.... And normally you should like that as well, because that is part of what makes him one of the best composers out there. DVC and A&D are both great scores, but there is no reason HZ should compose more of the same. If you just want more of the same, you are probably not a fan of HZ, just a fan of a certain style of music. And that is alright, but please dont expect HZ to close his mind just because you won't open yours...

Vivien2016-10-08 16:46:42
So you judge 30" samples...

Laurens2016-10-08 20:15:39
One-minute samples here 00062000268/?suggestionType=typedsearch

Btw, sounds like we're getting a solid normal speeded electric version of Chevaliers :D

Laurens2016-10-08 20:16:48
Yeah well that link does not work properly but just type the album in the search bar and you'll find it

Rodhamine1232016-10-08 20:31:11
Are there any choir parts in this score at all? Life must have its mysteries sounds nice, like a cover of chevaliers of sangreal.

Laurens2016-10-08 20:46:38
Haven't heard any substantive choir parts in the samples... But then I feel like Inferno is the least 'religiously themed' of the trilogy so it kind of makes sense. Sounds like Science and Religion gets a reprise in Beaty Awakens the Soul to Act though. Would be so nice if 160 BPM carried over as well.

Hedon2016-10-08 22:19:45
Consider this before you dismiss the score... as with Chappie, which had the same team of composers, there were some extremely noisy and harsh/annoying tracks. They were identified to be the work of Andrew Kawczynski. The rest (and fortunately the biggest part) done by Mazzaro and HZ was good stuff, melodic and rhythmic. Probably same thing here... let's see when the full thing is out. I am sure there will be plenty of highlights in this score, but as usual they may not all be on the CD.

Laurens2016-10-08 22:41:30
Agreed... I'm not even planning to judge the score until I've seen the movie (because that's what it is for in the end). I remember valuing BvS a lot higher after I saw the movie so that can always be the case. And I quite like the transition from the very classical and orchestral atmosphere in DaVinci to the electronic stuff here. I mean, we've all heard choirs and orchestras in that score, so what's the point of repeating it? I'm actually very interested how those pieces transform into something new every time.

Miralsice2016-10-08 23:20:47
I haven't heard the choir in all samples and it's bad. Hope it's just because of samples that's not contain the choir parts.

I like what I'm hearing! A lot! It's like Angels & Demons in Chappie's soundscape, can't wait.

Dfault2016-10-08 11:55:09
THanks for the link Hybrid!

Dfault2016-10-08 11:57:12
Life must have its Mysteries sound familiar, Remove Langdon sounds promising and a little oldschool

Bro2016-10-08 12:26:51
The cistern, Beauty Awakens The Soul To Act, and The Logic Of Tyrants all sound really great. Love the references to God Save Us / Camerlingo Suite.

The french horn instead of the cello really sounds interesting.

JB2016-10-08 12:38:55
After hear all the samples I like what I heard. Many action eletronic tracks and another version of Chevaliers de Sangreal in Life Must Have Its Mysteries, so now we get three diferent versions, but I haven't heard anything like 160 BMP from Angels & Demons wich for me it's one of the best tracks Zimmer has ever composed

TBO22162016-10-08 14:45:22
The link doesn't work for me

Dragonseeker2016-10-08 21:43:39
The link doesn't work.

Does anyone have another link?

Dragonseeker2016-10-08 21:54:59
I found the samples.

Overall, I am not sure what to think of it.

I think "Beauty Awakens The Soul to Act," "Life Must have Its Mysteries," "The Logic of Tyrants," and "Our Own Hell on Earth" are probably going to be the best tracks.

Everything else sounds very experimental.

Paul2016-10-08 23:18:36

Poe2016-06-24 04:26:57
What was a mess, Hybrid, the film or the music process?

Hybrid Soldier2016-06-24 08:54:05
The film, which of course had an impact on the score process...

Actually they recorded an orchestra a few months back in Vienna for a bunch of cues. The rest will all be electronics.

JR2016-06-25 09:24:22
Okay thanks. And what about choir ?

Ds2016-06-25 11:41:07
JR: about choir... Eric Whitacre is listed as "additional music composer" here, so I guess there will be quite a lot of choir, even with the electronics!

mpolonest1232016-06-25 23:19:21
HZ did say at the Manchester concert that this was definitely the last one him and his team would work on. I wonder if it was a bad experience...

Hybrid Soldier2016-06-25 23:34:52
160 BPM is not used at all in the score. A bit of Da Vinci apparently remains though...

Someone2016-06-26 00:30:20
How was the score compared to Da Vinci and Angels & Demons?

Hybrid Soldier2016-06-26 01:07:56
I have no idea ! I just discussed with about 5 persons who worked on the score, but I haven't heard a second of it !! lol

Ds2016-06-26 01:14:44
Actually we all did hear a little bit of Inferno, since Hans played it during his tour. Even though that piece is most likely to play during the end credits!

Someone2016-06-26 01:17:54
It's fine. Your reply had made my greatest day in a while!

Tom2016-09-08 21:52:25
Hybrid, why does any of that surprise you? Zimmer has been using "processed" electronic sounds for years and experimental atmospheric (i.e, boring) music in most of his recent films. Do you really expect any magic to reappear in this score?

Ds2016-09-08 22:51:01
Someone should definitely learn the difference between "i.e." and "i.m.o." :-)

Richard2016-09-09 22:37:53
Anything that can make a sound can be considered an instrument. Whether or not the sounds are used effectively to create a working melody is one thing. Whether or not one person may or may not like that melody is another thing. For example, I do not enjoy rap or much "pop" music, but I still acknowledge that it's music and work was put into it. It sounds like the process for Inferno was messy, which isn't the fault of "boring" music, but rather issues involving the production and what have you.

Bro2016-09-17 21:21:00
With Eric Whitacre in the credits, you can expect a lot of choir.

And @tom, you are retarded.

@Hybrid, any idea on when Sony/Columbia might release samples?

Hybrid Soldier2016-09-17 21:26:51
Don't take my credits as granted, they all worked on the score at some point, but there were many changes, not sure what was used or not in the end, we'll see what the final credits are !

Dragonseeker2016-09-18 06:43:24
Did Zimmer finished the entire score prior to his tour or did he have to work on it afterwards as well?

Hybrid Soldier2016-09-18 10:41:58
