Where is the albumYou're right, you do not know anything ... I hope that something is published since the movie seems to have problemswhen are we gonna have some info on the Dark Phoenix score or even a snippet of what it sounds like. We've heard nothing about the score at all since it was announced that Zimmer was doing itLast episode tonight with the soundtrack after that. Gonna be a great night!!!!Sadly, he doesn't seem to say anything new besides the background information on the Zimmer and Harry Gregson scores he's worked on. Plus the Skyscraper information still doesn't excuse the generic committee product that score turned out to be.
Does anyone know what songs Max Aruj and Steffen Thum have worked on?Though there are differences, I think HZ & NGS styles mix together rather well.

Tracks like "Fort Walton", "Goodspeed Tracks Jade" or "Jade" are exceptions for sure. Apart from these, most tracks blend very well, imo.
It's very different from Armageddon for exemple, when team Trevor and team Harry had very different styles (big anthems & guitars VS darker material and more subtle theme developments) and also different sound equipments (I can tell immediately who did what thanks to the sound banks they used). The Rock doesn't suffer from those extreme differences imo.

We fans here listened to those scores for over 20 years and we've learnt how to spot each composer (thanks to this website and all the infos on each track we got over the years). I'm not sure I could have noticed all those details back in 1996, or even 10 years ago.

Nonetheless, The Rock is one of the greatest action scores ever. While more coherent scores like Crimson Tide or The Fan grew on me over the years, The Rock keeps a very special place in my heart.yes i hope 2 cd!!!!Hi,
Ever paid tribute to Gorecki?
I think you should

Cheers

Mjt SprengersThe only way I won't be able to the listen to it before the episode is if it will be released in Germany in the night to tuesday. But I don't know how I would find that.
Does someone know something about the soundtrack already? Like how many songs there will be or maybe even the full track list? Or will it be a big surprise?I will, Backbiter, because I live in Germany and in my country the final episode will be released on monday. I will watch it with my friends and therefore we will watch it around 8pm in my time. If the soundtrack will be released in the night from sunday to monday, I will be able to listen to the soundtrack before I watch the final episode.Yasss

Please be 2 discsThis is an okay score. Nothing super spectacular, but it fits the movie very well. The only issue I really took is that the end credits arrangement of the Pokemon video game theme is absent from the CD - I would wager quite a few people bought the CD just for that only to be disappointed. For me, it would have ended the CD perfectly.

Anybody know why it was left off? Something Nintendo told them 'no' on?Very interesting interview. Thanks man!
Judging by the YouTube views, not a lot of people have listened to this 1-hour chat with Steve. So I'm posting it here for you folks to enjoy - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bR0TPYmidNYI have nothing against any of the composers who worked on The Rock, but to my ears, the Nick Glennie-Smith stuff sounds obviously different from the Hans Zimmer stuff, and they both sound very different from the Harry Gregson-Williams stuff. And the transitions are a tad jarring at times. I've never seen anyone else post this opinion before, though, so I may be the only one!
=====================

That's actually very interesting. Never thought of it that way. And you're right. For those who are well aware of the overall MV/RC sound, there is indeed a difference between the Zimmer style and the Glennie-Smith style. However, I think that the two styles blend pretty well in The Rock. The movie itself allows for that. So I would argue that, while watching the actual movie, the two styles work very well together and they complement each other.

But listening to the score alone, yes, I can definitely see where you're coming from. The differences are obvious. Having said that, I still consider it to be a masterpiece of action scoring. And not only action. The emotional bits are great too. JADE is an extremely beautiful and tender track :))

P.S. The Peacemaker is on my personal TOP 5 of the greatest action scores of all time. I can't believe the score is not as popular as The Rock. Same for Eraser, by the way. Watch the movie again on a good sound system and you'll be blown away by the awesome Silvestri score. I really wish those two scores were more popular with the public......The 90s had some of the greatest action movie scores ever
================================

Without a doubt. I grew up in the 90s and I was there for all of it. Truly one of the best decades for film music (and for cinema in general). I mean, it's the decade that changed action scores forever. Exactly because of scores like The Rock, Twister, Armageddon, Crimson Tide and The Peacemaker. Granted, Harold Faltermeyer kinda started it all in the mid-80s with his work on Top Gun, Tango and Cash and Beverly Hills Cop 2, but it was Hans and his team who really got the ball rolling. By the way, I'm super happy that Hans and Faltermeyer are teaming up for Top Gun 2. At least according to IMDb....

==================
The opening theme is probably Zimmer's best in the genre
==================

Agreed. It's the ultimate Zimmer power anthem. I know the younger generation knows Hans mainly from his work on comicbook movies like Batman and Spider Man, but for me, 90's Zimmer will always be the best Zimmer. And my favorite Zimmer :))I'm so excited hear that.No you won't, the score will be released after the final episode.

I think I choose Violence was also used in episode 10.
And I think you moved episodes 6 and 7 up from 5 and 6.
Episode 7 is the one with no music released.

How great was Djawadi's score for the new Game of Thrones episode!

The Denaerys theme variation for the end of the episode was amazing! I love how the orchestration has changed a bit with a more sort of noble brass feel!

This is definitely one of my most anticipated scores of the year and so far it does not disappoint!!!

Tyrion2017-07-18 04:01:26
It was only the first episode. Calm your tits.

Hal2017-07-25 12:22:53
Do you think the new s7 OST will be as long as season 6 (which finally was longer than just an hour) considering the fact that season 7 only will have 7 episodes.

Waymann2017-07-25 13:06:12
More episodes are longer this year so probably will be around an hour. Also depends on how much new material Djawadi has written for season 7. Don't know if he had much time to create new material with the Game of Thrones Music tour going on. I think most of season 7 will be new variations of old music. Like we heard in the first episode.

Anonymous2017-07-25 17:00:26
In episode 2, "Stormborn", there was a great rendition of "Hear Me Roar", Cersei's theme off the season 6 OST. It played when Qyburn showed her the crossbow to take out a dragon. Hope that makes the OST, it was awesome.

Waymann2017-07-26 12:55:27
Now i've seen episode 2 I have to say indeed that the music was much better than in the previous one. Especially in the scene with Arya and the wolfs, Arya heading to Winterfell and when Jon Snow departed to Dragonstone. Hooefully we will get a new soundtrack album by the end of August, beginning of September.

I like the piano out of tune theme (Main Theme, i think). Waiting for score's release.

The score is good, the variations on established themes is nice, it sounds bigger than ever. I really like it.

However I don't see why some people are raving about score of the year.

Ramin is music, orchestrations and progressions are alway very simplistic when you compare to other composers and scores. He is a bit like the McDonals of scoring. Very nice once to have, juicy and good but easily forgotten when you are going to a restaurant the next day.

Hal2016-07-01 12:59:55
I don't think this is the case at all. The music is really beautiful and emotional. If people, including myself like it, that's good. You don't have to like it though.

Anonymous2016-07-01 13:36:27
I said I liked it a lot. (first sentence)
I only said that it is very simplistic music. And that's not bad either since not all music needs to be highly complex to be good.

It's more like pop the soundtracks

... reply Replies: 2 || 2016-06-30 16:55:22
Holy shit! I just listened to the score and this is the best one yet!
Ramin really used his themes well and came up with some new ones! I love how the scores has become bigger and bigger as the story has progressed. His use of choir in the denaerys tracks is amazing and I'd love to have the lyrics for the Winds of Winter!

But let's talk about Light of the Seven. What an amazing piece. When watching the scene you're awestruck that you hear this piano piece in GOT. The stunning sequence was perfectly done and the music really made it work!

This is easily my favorite score of the year!

"Winter has come"

Nonore2016-06-30 21:57:43
Yeah, really, the most beautiful score of the year, and it's for a serie. Quite weird to say that this is more inspired than other scores from this year.

...2016-07-01 11:28:24
Well The GOT scores are always good but this is just incredible. The thematic development is really great. The way in which Drogon and Dani's themes have developed and started playing together is really great and you hear it in for instance Blood of my Blood. Finally in this season the Stark's got some revenge and redemption so we get some wonderful versions of the Stark theme! The Lannister theme is present on the OST but the OST is missing a few important versions.

The album is finally longer than 1 hour and while it is a great release, I couldn't hep but wonder why they couldn't have added 2 more bonus tracks: the iron island theme (when it plays in the early episodes of s6) and the Lannister battle fanfare. As this is such a great album I shouldn't complain about those tracks but it would have been nice to include them on disc 2.

Ramin created such emotional, scary and epic music for this season and I think it's time that GOT's music wins some awards!
