Don't worry this one won't be an essay's length. After listening to this score again, it's probably Jablonsky's best since Steamboy. The main theme, while sounding a bit like Transformers (hell it's even in G minor like "Autobots"), is used much more effectively with clever writing where the theme clashes with the villain themes, some much appreciated key variations, and a feeling of fun and adventure that hasn't been present in a Jablonsky score since "Your Highness".
"Become Human" has a wonderful variation of the theme that conveys something similar to "Optimus", that there'll always be a tragic side to these characters. And like TF5, the use of electronics here give the score a sense of sound variety, despite the lack of woodwinds and other instruments.
"Turtle Power" is nothing more than fun. Just pure fun. It sounds like the lighthearted, yet bombastic music Nickelodeon would use for their cartoons, which is incredibly fitting for this movie. And like the main theme, the key variations really make it feel special and unique.
While I don't remember the Shredder theme too much, the Krang theme is extremely memorable. I like how the first half of the theme is a reference to Halloween, conveying the insanity of this deformed creature, and how it slowly develops seamlessly to Steve's own, original composition for the character. Plus the way the 2 villain themes come together in the finale, is incredibly satisfying.
Honestly, this might be Jablonsky's best score since Steamboy. It's wonderfully melodic, has echoes in tone to Danny Elfman and James Horner's work on the Spider-Man franchise, and it reminds me of his early work when he didn't have to worry about being compared to Zimmer. Hell, "Baxter Stockman" is basically a Desperate Housewives track.

Also I just realized I said it's Jablonsky's best score since Steamboy twice. Good job on not editing that, me.

Couldn’t agree more.
For some reason I always forget this score, but whenever I revisit it I instantly fall in love. If anything, this score is definitely a throwback to the classic MV scores. The themes are simple but still memorable, and the variety of music keeps things interesting.
Would love to see more scores like this from Steve!

I need to listen to this one again. I love the themes, but the many action cues seemed to sort of blend into one another (unlike with Steamboy, where each one has its own distinct personality). I agree it's one of Jablonsky's best scores though. Hoping that this year's Skyscraper is similarly fun.

Yeah, I listened to the end credits music of Game Over, Man, and I gotta tell you guys, it's nothing special. Though to be fair I'm really not sure if I've ever heard I really great score for a Hangover-type of movie like that. So I don't think there was much Steve could do with that one. Maybe Skyscraper will give him more opportunities to show his skill.
Remove Turtle Power and place it in the end (it's a theme suite) and it's ordered

Squirrel formation, is in the main title and the turtles grab the pizza to the basketball game, Shredder is were Shredder with the cop and put him in the van, Baxter stockman is a scene were April is had a blonde wigs.
@Hybrid I just saw that they are making a new short film in the BMW series. You happen to know if Jablonsky is returning since he did Hostage. Or if (fingers crossed) Mazzaro or Kawczynski may do it since Neil Blomkamp is directing, that'd be pretty sweet.

Yeah?! Another solid choice. As long as its an RC guy. The best scores in the series where Jab's and HGW's
Steve's new theme is fantastic. I don't know what people are talking about Tyler's theme for the first movie. Isn't it just another slight variation of his Iron Man or Thor 2 themes?

Agreed. TMNT 1 = Iron man 3 = Thor 2

Please.. All those themes are different. People feel similarity because Tyler uses horns a lot. Think of theme of superman(old version) and that of star wars. Even their codes and melodys are different, many people think that they are "slight variation".. When you finish studying codes, you will notice those musics are all different....... I wonder why don't you say TMNT2 theme is longer part of transformers theme.. Think before you type.
Edmund Meinerts
2016-07-15 21:16:43
Nah, it's way more than "he uses horns a lot". The harmonies Tyler uses are far more simplistic and rooted in pop music (especially the iv-VI-I-V from Thor 2, dear God is that ever an overused progression) than the far more complex late-romantic idiom that Williams uses, so when Tyler uses similar ones from score to score it really stands out. The orchestrations in Williams' big themes from the late-70s-early-80s might be similar but the progressions (and rhythmic construction) in Star Wars, Superman and Indiana Jones are totally different. Not to mention the fact that Tyler's melodic lines are way shorter than Williams'.
That Jablonsky's TMNT2 theme sounds a bit like Transformers is, however, also true. But I'm willing to give it a pass because I like hearing that melodic side of Jablonsky's writing make a return.

Edmund Meinerts, I wasn't talking about the styles of Tyler's music or Williams'. I tried to point out that people make rush response to musics. Normal people could say composer's musics are same when they contact musics which contains similar use of instruments. Even if those themes are different. Such as Williams' musics. I was surprised that many people who listened to theme of star wars(opening part) and that of superman barely distinguished the difference because the arrangement of orchestra. That is the reason why I mentioned William's theme. And I wanted to say that this phenomenon is happening to you.

Steve did a good job for 2 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films, but he'll be back on the third Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with Megan Fox, Will Arnest, and the Turtles cast members.
Saw the film (which i thought was a lot of fun) but i didn't recall hearing "Half Shell" in the film anywhere. Was it there and i just missed it or did they not use it at all? The rest of the score i thought worked great with the film.
Track 10. Casey Jones - from 0:48 to 01:13 is 100% ripoff from Mad Max Fury Road Theme by Tom Holkenborg. Why?

Dammit people you're missing the point!

MB, what about "Brothers in Arms" by Steve Jablonsky? score for Transformers 4 "Punch-hold Slide Repeat" from. listen to a score of RC for the first time? besides, it was hans zimmer himself confessed that inspired the composer in rc with one another. when a making travel will next make it similar or better. Jablonsky also writes this year for four movies, the music and happy father what one sees on facebook. is just a lot of time pressure behind it but he always comes with what new and used elements from his earlier scores which is also in order. hans zimmer makes it too! especially if it is a specific piece of very good like a pity when you hear film four times in different. but okay.
Oh man, I love this score! Its alot of fun and the main theme (i guess it could be called the brothers theme) is very strong. Tyler's score was also good but i definitely prefer Steve's work here.
Half Shell....What Amazing cover from the original TV Series Intro song.
That's why I'm still thinking....Why this good composer didn't get this leitmotiv and made a really fun and cool soundtrack?
Because this OST is all but not fun or inspired or nothing fine. Is really boring and "pilot-mode on", so generic and souless.
I remember the last soundtrack by Brian Tyler. Wasn't a master piece but had a very good main theme and was correct music along the movie. Perhaps when I'll be watching the this sequel I'll can apreciate more the music work with the rest of stuff, but for now, every time I listen the last track "Half Shell"....I'm still askingn, Why?
As far as the score goes, this is definitely my Fav Jab score second only to TF1. The new theme is fantastic and recognizable, although I personally favor Tyler's.
Love This Score From Steve Jablonsky cool With Orchestra +Electronic Music By The Movie. The New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Theme Is Cool And Better Than Brian Tyler But The Two Score I Like It. You Must Hear in Apple The Score Of Steve Jablonsky Maybe Is The End Credits Music Is "Half Shell" From New Theme TMNT 2016 And Others New Theme Like Shredder,Krang & Casey Jones

Brian Tyler did awesome theme and job in the first one, that is for sure but I am glad that Jablonsky scored this one a make it his own and we get completely different music and I can´t wait to hear it whole, I hope Jablonsky will do one day some kind of Marvel movie because he is really talented.

I hope myself Steve manages to get Justice League since Zimmer's leaving. Maybe with Junkie to aid in keeping the style and thematic music on the film, and adapt Hans' themes for Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg.

Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg had a theme? o.O
Edmund Meinerts
2016-05-31 16:30:19
I think he means the themes that Hans (or whoever) would eventually write for those characters. I seem to recall one of the ideas for music in the DC universe was Hans writing all the main themes, and then various RC composers doing the individual scores using those themes. Honestly, I kind of like the sound of that. It would take advantage of the collaborative nature of RC in the best possible way.
To bring things back to Turtles, Tyler's score for the first is actually one of my favorites of his (it's not as generic as his Marvel music and has some unusually complex writing and cool Matrix-like brass moments), but I thought his main theme was pretty weak and sounded like every other heroic theme he's ever written. With Jablonsky I'm the other way around - I'm fairly confident in his ability to deliver strong themes (even his weakest scores usually have that). But he often stumbles when it comes to the actual underscore. I'm still looking forward to hearing this, though - it could be the best Jablonsky score in a long time.
it will be released on June 3rd, soundtrack samples already available on Amazon

Based on what I hear from the samples, I like it. Different from the first one (and it seems he didn't use Brian Tyler's themes), Jablonsky's style. AND, I hear the 80's anime opening theme in half shell (maybe I'm crazy...), I can't wait!

Actually it only seems to happen with movies produced by Michael Bay. The Last Witch Hunter was ready well on time, if I recall well :-p
When TF3 came out, Steve said in interviews that the CD had been ready for a long time, but just waited too long for Bay's approval, because Bay was busy with something else...
