I saw a few clips from the movie on youtube. The score sounded really good. Very unlike Djawadi and very beautiful fantasy music! Can't waitI saw a few clips from the movie on youtube. The score sounded really good. Very unlike Djawadi and very beautiful fantasy music! Can't waitHonestly, I do feel bad for Elfman, because for Chrissakes hes been doing 50 Shades of Grey these days, and the last memorable scores I have of him are from 2012. But I don't think Zimmer or even Elfman for that matter are done as yet. I predict by the end of this decade Zimmer will have a new wave in popularity wash in. I'm just waiting for Elfman's wave right now...not quite seeing it yet.Glad you caught it Rockhound. Think the others were too wound up to notice !!i was trying to be funny.Pete you are funny, although u demand from others to talk about the actual soundtrack from this page, you start to talk also about another soundtrack. but ok.... i think Forgotten is a very boring track and adds nothing to the actual scene. a variation of his theme from the track Hero would have been much more intense for the ending. sadly we got 9 boring minutes of thematic development and instrumentation. Lorne can do much better as the track Hero from the same soundtrack shows.
Zimmer got X-Men: Dark Phoenix this year. And I have a hard time believing he is only scoring that film this year. Zimmer always does more than 1 film a year.No need for petty cursing .<br><br>We can discuss the soundtrack instead ! <br><br>Forgotten is cool track. It’s definitely one of Bay’s best movies. Wish he would make more drama based film obvious with some action. Can’t cope with more robots ! The ending of the film is so emotional and this track gave goosebumps at the end. Did sound very similar to the end of The Last Knight"Boring . Talk about the actual soundtrack or change the subject."<br><br>Ok, so someone else gets us on this topic, an arguement occurs, and NOW, only when you've realized you're losing the arguement, do you decide that this page is only for 12 strong. Which it's not. This is a forum we talk about whatever we want here.<br><br>But what a childish and pathetic attempt at avoiding our points. Just dismissively saying "Boring! Change the subject! My ears can't handle this criticism!!! Wah, wah, wah!" I guarantee you the next step after this is going to be petty cursing.Boring . Talk about the actual soundtrack or change the subjectUpset about success? Sounds like someone doesn't know a thing about reasonable criticism. :p<br><br>If anyone likes Balfe, then good on them. I only get annoyed when people decide he's suddenly the most amazing thing ever, which he really isn't. Even on his most competent scores, it's unlikely many would recognize him as one of the greats. Respect him, sure, but not think he's out of this world. Especially if people are still gonna be excited about hearing the work of someone else when a different person is hired (i.e. what JL might've been).
Can we please change the subject !!!!!!!!it is so boring now. This page is ment to be about the sound track to 12 StrongThere you go again, accusing me of being upset about Balfe's success when I never said anything like that. Stop putting words in my mouth.AgreedThe point is Edmund and others don’t need to keep getting upset about Balfes success.Dont reply and just focus on other conversations. No one here is interested in hearing anyone bashing any of the great composers on this site from Remote. Grow up or move on.Appreciate the voice of support. :)
Good god, this Balfe/Anonymous guys is wreaking havoc! Good thing Djawadi's fans are calmer than Balfe's.Jesus Christ, what a mess! What is wrong with you Balfe fanboys? Edmund comes in trying to settle down the situation and add some nuance and you just curse him out? He even admits to liking Lorne, basically states how the top comment is far too harsh, defends Balfe, and all he does against him is call out Michael for borderline bullying someone else into worshiping Balfe.<br><br>After all of that, all you can possibly say in response to him is "go away you John Powell fanboy"? For saying one thing against a guy basically being a mindless fanboy. Which by the way is an unbelievably poor argument because I've seen Edmund criticize Powell scores before. Is Edmund not aloud to prefer Powell? He didn't even bring his music up once in this discussion! Oh no I can see the responses now...<br><br>"superultramegoo go listen to Transformers 5 for the 50th time.we dont need youre stupidumb comments here !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Balfe has won many awardso tyou cant say any thing bad about him you Jablonsky fnaboy.stop with these demoralizing comments.!A Star Wars score that John Williams himself worked on, however briefly. An interesting time to be a film music fan indeed. <br><br>Hybrid, do you know if Powell was already hired before the director switch on Solo?Happy birthday Mr BalfeI have the same concern, but at the same time I'm really really excited and curious to hear what Williams' sensibilities filtered through Powell's voice will sound like. Those are two of my absolute favorite composers (like, honestly, those two and Hans, top three). I just hope Powell can figure out a way to make it sound natural and organic and not forced/awkward. And maybe if Powell doesn't have to worry about coming up with a main theme it leaves him more time to fine-tune the balance between the two composers' voices (or else write cool secondary material). Giacchino only had four weeks on Rogue One and while he did a decent job, it wasn't as smooth an adaptation as I'd have hoped, especially coming from the composer of Medal of Honor. My expectations are higher for Solo.<br><br>I couldn't give two shits about the movie itself but I'm grateful it exists if only because it will give us this exciting, one-of-a-kind score situation. :)<br><br>Also, there's gonna be a Star Wars score with a page on hans-zimmer.com - who'd ever have thought?

Congratulation to Hans Zimmer and Richard Harvey for winning the Annie Award for this score!

Edmund Meinerts reply Replies: 2 || 2016-03-02 14:48:36
Okay, so forgive me if this has been discussed already, but what exactly was the extent of Zimmer's contribution here? I've read that Zimmer basically only worked on the Camille songs and the score was entirely Richard Harvey (plus the other guys, I guess - Hybrid mentioned that Dom Lewis helped on "Escape"). Is that true, or an exaggeration?

Ds2016-03-02 15:21:02
A while ago I read a review that was saying this. It spoke explicitly about "Zimmer's songs and Harvey's score". Maybe you read the same review :-p

I don't think it's really accurate, even if most of the music is indeed quite different from HZ's usual output. I must admit I have no idea what Harvey usually sound like.

soi2016-05-10 07:44:33
The escape cue is the best one in the score. Really touching and beautifully orchestrated.

Quick question to anyone who's seen the movie: there's a beautiful piece of music playing in the scene where the girl is running/biking to the hospital. This track is not on the release, but I suspect it to be the instrumental version of the track "Equation". Can someone confirm it?

Hybrid Soldier2015-08-22 15:06:14
Yes it is... :)

What a lovely movie! The score makes it shine bright, a really nice output from team HZ. For those interested, the soundtrack is totally out of order, and I think it's impossible to order it because some tracks contain various cues from different places in the movie.

rockhound2015-07-30 09:46:55
yep...a very lovely score with wonderful themes and a very nice orchestration, especially in the action parts. The score has a french feeling all over the place without sounding to much hollywood cliche. good work by team rcp.

Any Richard Harvey sample for this score?

Frank reply Replies: 1 || 2015-07-26 05:09:22
Besides Celebrate the Oscar, the last few tracks are very similar with Thin Red Line too (not the notorious Journey to the Line though)

Frenchans2015-07-26 18:36:23
I agree with you, "finding the rose" reminds me The Thin Red Line and I love that ! A return to his roots ?

Hybrid, is it true that hans only worked on Suis-moi, Le Tour de France en Diligence and Suis-moi reprise? Or was this more of a collaborative effort?

mdsmith reply Replies: 14 || 2015-07-22 22:22:10
Another zimmer score. another 48 additional composers to arrange the challenging material for him.

quick someone find the 5 minute suite of basic chord progressions and ostinatos that proves its 'all him' LOL

Edmund Meinerts2015-07-22 23:52:34
Between the relative obscurity of the film, Harvey's co-composing credit and the presence of six (!) other composers (including a couple eyebrow-raisers...Benjamin Wallfisch, Nick Glennie-Smith!)...yeah, the OP may be a bit of a troll, but this doesn't seem like one of Zimmer's more hands-on projects, does it?

Hybrid Soldier2015-07-22 23:56:15
They really didn't have much time to do this... It's just one of those... lol

Zimson2015-07-23 13:21:57
This seems to be KFP 2 all over the place again. Gotta say, not Hans' best year. However I expect great stuff for Batfleck vs. Steelman next year.

Lambegue2015-07-23 14:29:17
I like the "Escape" track. I wasn't impressed by the samples, but now I hope it will be at least a nice score.

Edmund Meinerts2015-07-23 16:12:52
Yeah, it feels like a lot of Hans' minor/really-someone-else's projects all piled up in 2015. There's not one score that feels like he did the heavy lifting.

Next year, though, we get Broodman vs. Superjoyless and Inferno, two pretty huge projects (the latter of which I'm looking forward to much, MUCH more). And the enigma of KFP3, of course - should be a fun one, regardless of who actually writes it.

Mike2015-07-23 16:26:19
"Yeah, it feels like a lot of Hans' minor/really-someone-else's projects all piled up in 2015. There's not one score that feels like he did the heavy lifting."

Maybe doing Interstellar by himself last year was just too much... :P

(Kidding.)

Ds2015-07-23 19:28:50
Have to agree, however Chappie was insanely cool, I'm still listening to it a lot, liking it more and more.

Leo2015-07-23 22:19:24
I like the Escape cue a lot, hopefully the rest of the score reaches the level of it.

NM2015-07-24 01:32:46
"This seems to be KFP 2 all over the place again."

Think Hans did more of that one than a lot of people think.

Zimson2015-07-24 23:17:47
@NM I'm sure he did as much as Powell on that. Still, his part wasn't the "heavy lifting" like Edmund said. Though, I will like this score a lot.
Btw, is Escape confirmed to be mostly Hans? It's really great.

Hybrid Soldier2015-07-24 23:47:57
It's not HZ who didn't do KFP 2, it's Powell who jumped ship !

RealFfingMusic2015-07-25 09:25:17
I went to sleep after reading Hybrid's comment. I had a dream of John Powell, dressed like Captain Jack Sparrow, giving a malicious grin, and jumping off the badass Viking ship from Dragon, as the ship got swallowed by a giant Po's head. Then I realised that Captain Powell and the ship are actually tiny, and are in Po's noodles, and saw Captain Powell climb off Po's bowl, and run away.

Mike2015-07-25 15:42:18
Zimson, "Escape" has to be Hans' work... It's like "Celebrate the Oscars - Take 2." lol

Hybrid Soldier2015-07-25 18:10:38
Actually Celebrate the Oscar was indeed temped here... And that cue is a last min Dom Lewis help ! lol
