Great work of Zanelli, if is not as good like JNH's Maleficent, is a tremendous work, with a terrific writing and orchestrations, even the most tender parts are terrific. It’s definitely Balfe. I’ve seen the film for the second time two weeks ago so my memory is kind of hazy but luckily I decided to record the end credits for reference and I think it plays in Balfe’s section / variation of one of his themes played on a solo string instrument.

I think we got most of Richter cues as it was mainly his release. I feel that Lorne has moved on from this project - he didn’t even mention the release so an extended release of his material seems unlikely to happen :(

For those interested the credits suite plays as follows:

“A Trip To The Moon” (synth part)
“I Put All That Away”
Variation on the theme in “Underground Lake” at 0:14
Variation on the theme in “Trip To Neptune” 0-1:00
“To The Stars”Season 2 premieres in 2 weeks, if he was scoring he would be working on it at the moment. But yes no confirmation regarding his return or a new composer. No news regarding new composer might be a hint whether Djawadi is returning or not.I only listened to the first couple of cues so it is too early to form an opinion comparing it to JNH but I disagree the first half drags. Maybe because I love tender themes.I suspect that the release was just what they had originally planned, with a couple of bonus tracks thrown in to appease Fox. They likely didn't put too much thought in what they added, since people who have spoken with Lorne said he wasn't aware of the release and was surprised Prayer wasn't on it. I'm just glad anything got released at all after everything that has gone before.

Regarding that theme you mentioned, is it one that sounded like the personal motif Ethan has in M:I Fallout? Because while I did initially assume that was Balfe too, it seems it was actually Richter. Haven't gotten to hear Lorne's parts yet, so who knows he if he also did a similar thing.
It’s not included and I’m very confused. I think there’s a good amount of unused tracks or the way the score was used was so terrible that only few tracks were memorable to me.

There’s a theme that plays during two tragic moments - I thought it was “Prayer” but it isn’t. I think it’s by Lorne as it’s closer to the direction he took.

I wish they gave us more Balfe :(I know this is probably the wrong place for it but I'd love if Hnas would one day release a CD of just his demo sketches and suites. I find hearing the original intentions/ideas even when rough really fascinating.11.22.19Yeah lol one way or another... :P21. Hello, Beastie! (3:42)

Geoff Zanelli will be haunted by the specter of the PotC franchise until the day he dies, lol
After listening to the whole thing, I can say that, while not as great as Newton Howard, Zanelli did a great job in here, adapting the original themes as well as creating some new ones.

The first half of the album drags a bit, but the second half is really fantastic! Is a CD release being planned?

If so, when is it coming out?zimmer said once, that he was very satisfied of how his music was presented in the ost and that it would let the music speak in that way as he wanted to be heard, and that there aren't much of importing cues that should have been added or released.

but i guess he hasn't recognized how much love his score have gotten over the years, until his first world tour. there has been a huge demand and loud screaming after the tracklist of his show had been released and there was no sign of last samurai. people complained and asked (esp. through this site) for a cue of Last Samurai to be played in their show, but it the developement of the show was already at its end and so he hadn't the chance to include a cue of it aswell. but atleast he recognized how much people are loving that score and respect his work on it. maybe that has changed his mind and view to the score and a propper and complete release of the score...@Hybrid Soldier, out of curiosity, why is the Last Samurai have conditions? A better way to ask is, what is the backstory with it what seems to cause reservations for Hans? Thanks!Really fantastic writing here, definitely taking inspiration from JNH’s style without trying to copy. And the adaptation of Maleficent’s “curse” theme from the first score in “The Phoenix” is definitely a highlight.
No idea, and Last Samurai is not a no-go from Hans. It might have been under certain circumstances in the past but last time I asked him he was open for it (under some conditions, obviously).@Hybrid Soldier: Do you know if there is any chance LLL would take this as a candidate for a propper release? Or is it a no-go for Zimmer like with Last Samurai?I think prayer is private video from Lorne Balfe's YouTube Channel. Also, there have prayer video still here by YouTube Search by another channel posted the videoCan anyone confirm if "Prayer" is on the OST? Since the video has been deleted, I'm not sure if anyone has a saved copy to check.I would buy a copy of an official release of this score. The Jablonsky variations is one of my favorite HZ tracks.

Listening to this complete score and once again it strikes me how much weaker, quieter, less punchy recording sessions frequently sound when compared to the equivalent album tracks. The Pirates of the Caribbean completes have the same problem. It puts me in kind of a conundrum because take from this score "Runaway Train" vs. its album track "The Railroad Waits for No One". The percussion in particular sounds so much more satisfying and prominent in the latter. So do I take the version with the two extra minutes of material, or the version that sounds much more vibrant and exciting to listen to? Or do I edit together some weird mixture of the two (which is actually what I did, but that's an imperfect solution too because a) it's time-consuming and b) then the track constantly moves back and forth between two different mastering styles which is distracting).

Not to mention the huge chunks of silence at the beginning and end (and sometimes middle) of tracks, and the crappy sound quality on "Ride Out/Spirit Horse" and "Aftermath Village Slaughter". It's great to be able to hear these recording sessions but sometimes their flaws are too irritating to ignore...it's quite clear that they weren't prepared for consumption at all, and getting them to the point where you can listen to them is hard work sometimes!

Mike (OTM)2018-05-02 15:45:11
I noticed that with The Dark Knight Rises... a lot of the cues sound like demos almost, even the final versions, where the score in-film is a lot more polished.

Mr Tweedy2018-05-02 18:58:22
That's why I'm mastering my bootlegs before givin them a "real" listen.
Though you can't really master stereo files the same way studios do masterings (with separate layers of instruments), I manage to add some noticeable energy to the bootleg tracks.

mpolonest123 2018-05-02 19:47:24
It’s funny how certain RS are affected by this whole mastering thing while others aren’t. TASM2 and MoS sound almost perfect, while AWE has completely different instrumental layering (although in that case I prefer the more traditional sound as opposed to the bass heavy album).

Joshua2018-05-02 20:37:44
Well considering the film versions have to compete with dialogue and sound effects, it's an absolute must to make them "less punchy" or "quieter". There's only so much sonic space to play with. But with album versions you can go balls to wall. It's not a problem in the recordings. They're doing exactly what there designed to do.

Edmund Meinerts2018-05-02 21:05:58
Yeah I know, it's only a "problem" if you're listening on its own, which these files were never really meant for. I understand the circumstances, it's still just a bit frustrating.

Incidentally, I actually prefer the sessions' mix of "Train Chase" (or "Finale"). It lets the dynamics breathe a bit more whereas the album version was a bit brickwalled and over-loud and exhausting (which works okay for your usual Zimmer/RC-style simplistic power action music but not quite as well for a more dynamically orchestral piece like this; I have the same issue with Thomas Bergersen's "That's a Wrap"). Also the opening trumpet isn't quite as piercing and abrupt (I actually get a huge "jump-scare" sometimes when it comes up on shuffle). So you win some, you lose some. :)

mpolonest, I sort of agree on AWE, although I do wish the sessions had just a *bit* more power. It's not 100% traditionally composed orchestral music, after all, still has that Zimmer heavy touch which goes missing a bit in the sessions. The ideal medium would be somewhere between the sessions and the overly-loud album (which is hopefully what we'll get when that score gets an official complete release one of these years from someone like La-La-Land, which I'm perhaps foolishly optimistic it will, there's so much great unreleased material and it's a very, very popular score, with good reason).

mpolonest123 2018-05-02 21:28:13
@Edmund Well more traditional in the Zimmer sense lol.
With the first Pirates and DMC, you need to have that bass heavy “rock’n’roll” sound, AWE was always a pretty different score tonally.

As for the issues with session mastering, I always edit my copies to remove silences and boost volumes when needed. The only major issue that seems to arise is when lossy files are released. BvS, as one example, sounds atrocious in parts due to the quality of sound.

Edmund Meinerts2018-05-02 21:58:25
Boosting volume helps but it doesn't bring the music up to album levels. There's a much more involved amount of balancing/mixing/mastering that goes into albums that is far beyond my rudimentary Audacity skills...

mpolonest123 2018-05-02 22:04:57
Oh definitely not... I think you would need the stems to have a 100% perfect representation of the album sound. (Though I’m sure some people have strong enough editing skills to come close)

Two asides:

1. In Cavendish Escape (film version) there are some awesome drum placements when he exits the train with his gang that aren’t on the sessions. We’re those done by a music editor?

2. How on earth did the skeleton dance and finale cue from Curse of the Black Pearl pass the bar with those horrible bass distortions? I don’t think I’ve ever heard an official release with something as botched as that....

Edmund Meinerts2018-05-02 23:11:12
There's some pretty gnarly bass distortions in "Terraforming" from Man of Steel as well (at around the 2:30 mark) but I'm not sure those aren't on purpose...

mpolonest123 2018-05-03 02:34:28
Those are pretty noticeable, although they do fit the whole terraforming sound design in a weird way. I want to say there is some awful mixing in the Hero Fight cue from BVS as well. Actually, make that most of Junkie XL’s scores. Run All Night and Mad Max have some genuinely bad portions.

Uhhh, sorry my friend, this "complete score" doesn't and never will exist. It is just more of Hybrids useless never-ending posting of songs we will never hear or be able to buy. Just a senseless waste of time.

Marcos2015-03-10 19:38:34
What are you talking about? I have all these tracks, this is real. Maybe you should look better

Anonymous2015-03-11 02:55:32
Well where exactly did you obtain it? It clearly states "unofficial release" next to "Label"

Anonymous 11382015-03-11 06:19:39
It's also been clearly stated that it's against the rules here to post links to other websites, especially ones where bootlegs are available for download. ### EDITED ###

Another one Zimmer's leak ? What 's going on? , POTC On Strangers Tides was leaked too. now just missing the complete score of the amazing spider-man 2 , does anyone know why all complete scores are been leaked in these days? Maybe @Hybrid can tell us

hey hybryd, after leaking pirates mos and lone ranger can you leak spiderman ?
thanks

Anonymous2015-03-10 18:11:50
What is the use in "leaking" these alleged "complete scores" all the time? Will we ever, or have we ever been able to buy these, let alone hear any of these extra songs? The answer is no so why keep doing it?

Marcos2015-03-10 19:35:47
now apparently the recording sessions of Amazing spider.Man 2 has been leaked. but for now is a rumor, i'm going to check now the tracklist.

I know it's a silly question, but why does this site replace slashes with hyphens?

E.g. "Logos / Exhibit 1:33" to "Logos - Exhibit (1:33)"

Anonymous2015-03-10 06:15:48
Annoying, is it not?

Hybrid Soldier2015-03-10 11:56:25
Because it's my H-Z.com standard... I personally hate the "/" !

Sue me it bothers you ! lol

RealFfingMusic2015-03-10 12:08:21
Sometimes I forget everybody here is human. Shame, I always imagined Hybrid to be like Ian McKellen in Gandalf costume.

Edmund Meinerts2015-03-10 13:51:35
I personally prefer slashes to hyphens but as long as one or the other is used consistently, everything's cool. :)

RealFfingMusic2015-03-10 16:48:20
Well, hyphens are used to join two words. Slash is used to separate two parts of the same element. So yeah, slash is more accurate.

Hybrid Soldier2015-03-10 17:45:05
Who cares, you have a problem ? You're free to leave !

RealFfingMusic2015-03-10 18:03:41
@Hybrid, don't be dick. I never said I have a problem. I don't have anything against hyphens. I just mentioned in Indian English slash is MORE accurate here, doesn't mean hyphen is wrong.
