This is Balfe’s best music yet for sure and shows a side to his musical skills we don’t get to hear much I think.
It’s been interesting reading posts about Balfe doing Bond.Has he confirmed yet if he is ?Why would I ever do that ?

Tracklist is the real one... -_-New trailer for the Sonic movie.
there any chance of a concert in London?i mean, the page, would you update with the tracklist posted years ago?
What.Un artiste qui a une force mais d'une puissance ! Bravo depuis la France !@Hybrid would you update the complete score with the new tracklist? Thankswhat happened here?. Track 4 Bunker Bust and Track 14 River mission are the exact same track. The game itself has a couple of good themes that didn't make it onto the album.I am really sorry but WHY THERE IS NO CONCERT IN POLAND???
Also where I think the "Spidey Theme" listed here is from, since what's on there is basically a slightly expanded "Spidey Logo - Flying" that doesn't quite fit in with length of the scene in the movie.Before any of the expanded leaks came about, there was this 10 track set that apparently came from promotional materials for the film. While a good chunk of cues are from the final score, 3 seem to be demos that were much harsher in sound. Two of them being the Electro Showdown tracks listed here, which weren't added to the largest set currently out there (that has 2 other tracks from the 10 tk set).

Of course, there is the website that is forbidden to mention that you can find it on, but I'm sure it's reached other outlets as well if you know where to look. Was going to write about this earlier when the previous set of posts asking similiar questions were made, but I got sidetracked.Would love an instrumental track of this“The Alethiometer” might be my new favorite track of the year. Those chord progressions scream JNH/Jerry Goldsmith and are pretty similar to Balfe’s work on Beyond: Two Souls/Blackwood.

I’m glad to see this score getting some love, I’ve always been annoyed with how people seem to slam Balfe for his more workmanlike efforts while ignoring the stronger scores he has done over the years.I really like this score. Not a big fan of Balfe, but really enjoy this one.

And is it me or does The Tales Of Lee Scoresby really sound like Sweetwater from Westworld?
Hi,

the VIP ticket prices are very high and I wonder if a Meet & Greet is included or possible?Edit: The track "Farewell" is actually the track titled "Unused Source".
I've looked for a while now and can't find a track specifically titled "Farewell" that matches the one listed here. Also, both of the alternate versions of the "Electro Showdown" are evading my search. Do they actually exist?
I agree, lovely choir compositions; although I find myself preferring his work on Kyrie simply due to the larger orchestral/instrumental arrangments.Tickets bought!

Jeez I can listen that "Captain America" track all day long...

There's a weird touch Jackman has on many scores, adding to very orchestral music some very 1990s electro/dance gimmicks, which is basically Henry's pre score career.

Hector2014-03-18 20:28:44
Hybrid I respect your words, but Jackman only do it well in:

Abraham Lincoln...
Henry 4 (his best).
Turbo, maybe....

But always is so so. Captain America is a big movie and the music is small.

Ds2014-03-18 20:34:33
All Marvel movies are supposed to be "big movies" but their scores are most of the time insignificant and instantly forgettable. I don't think it's Jackman's fault, it seems more like a trend of the studio. I'd be very surprised if Kevin Feige had any interest/knowledge in music. Because if he had, he would at least try to have a continuity. Come on, they are building a huge, huge superhero universe, but don't even think about keeping some musical elements to make it more cohesive.

Edmund Meinerts2014-03-18 23:56:30
@Hybrid: Sounds like you're describing David Arnold, but he can do it without making the score sound boring/earsplitting...

@Hector: What about Puss in Boots, Wreck-it Ralph or Gulliver's Travels? Those are better than any of the scores you listed...

@Ds: Yeah, the Marvel scores haven't been great, but this one is way, way worse than any of the others. Hell, I'd even take Djawadi's Iron Man over Jackman's Winter Soldier. And Doyle's Thor was I thought a genuinely good score, same with Armstrong's Hulk.

Hybrid Soldier2014-03-18 23:58:45
Iron Man is an excellent score, the best thing of everything else written for the character (and for its best movie, too...) !

And no, I'm not describing Arnold.

Edmund Meinerts2014-03-19 00:22:49
I mean the whole "very orchestral music with some very 1990s dance/electronica" thing. That sounds more to me like David Arnold's Bond scores of the 90s than what Jackman is doing now.

Iron Man is bad. Really limp and weak rock music. Pacific Rim seems to me almost like the score he should have done for IM but couldn't yet.

Hybrid Soldier2014-03-19 00:28:45
No you have no idea what I'm talking about, and I know Arnold very well & like him a lot...

And for IM you can still try to persuade yourself, you know, no one is forcing you to listen to any of this anyway. :)

Would be fun to do a cue by cue analysis of IM to understand if you even know what you're talking about... ;)

I don't bother myself listening to stuff I dislike, you should do the same... :)

MacArthur2014-03-19 01:08:46
IM is the one Ramin score I actually like.

Frank2014-03-19 10:29:53
Totally agree with Hybrid. Iron Man 3 was simply BS, both film and music. Tyler's music might be fine if you listen it on a CD but it did not fit the movie at all. And speaking of the movie, it was simply a poor mimic of TDKR and lost the core spirit of Iron Man.

Edmund Meinerts2014-03-19 12:15:04
I think Ramin's approach to Iron Man was the right one, i.e. the rock tone really fits, but the execution was lacking. I've heard plenty of really good rock/orchestral music. Iron Man was not.

I'm not going to be able to do a track-by-track analysis because, as you say, I don't really listen to stuff I dislike all that much. :p

aniitime2014-03-19 11:41:18
maybe the complete score is on the x-man :P

tomPoland reply Replies: 0 || 2014-03-19 10:47:50
First 10 minutes of movie poped-up and there is Silvestri theme in it. So why there is none on the album? Even a small portion... a bonus track for f*ck sake!

Music is a let down. Few nice tracks, but the whole score is not coherent as it should be. Wainting for a movie and a complete score.

Mike reply Replies: 0 || 2014-03-18 22:27:20
Maybe it's awesome in the movie, but honestly, I found that theme really boring by itself...

Luffy reply Replies: 1 || 2014-03-18 14:59:15
You do realize that henry has to please the producer / director, these movies are mostly temped to how they should sound which leaves little room for new things, just look at pirates 4, are you gonna say zimmer cant write or those assholes dont want him/ let him,

heck harry gregsom william work was on wolverine was temped to rambo and transformer, the score was not good, but that dosent mean harry is a terrible composer, its those shitty movie executives that force him to write that crap.

That is why animation is great, its more open to ideas.

Edmund Meinerts2014-03-18 15:39:46
Even working within the confines of a temp track, a composer worth his salt should be able to produce a good score. That shouldn't always be an excuse.

But you're right about animation. It's why I'm always confused when people wish John Powell would stop doing animated scores. Why? They let him spread his wings and write in a much more expressive and dynamic fashion than most action movies seem willing to allow these days. I'd much rather he just do animated movies than do what Jackman has been doing.

Lambegue reply Replies: 8 || 2014-03-17 20:11:55
Well...I'm a bit disappointed.
I don't think it's really bad, the majority of it is agreable to listen but it's so...Generic... The main theme is nice - not unforgettable, but still nice. Some tracks, such as "Time to Suit Up" or "Captain America", are really enjoyable. Other are interesting because of the mood they create ("The Winter Soldier" mainly). But the remaining is really cold, lacking real emotional power.
But again, it's not a bad listening experience. It's just that Jackman can do so much better...

Lambegue2014-03-17 20:13:41
"Taking a Stand", not "Time to Suit Up"...Sorry for the mistake...

Saurabh2014-03-17 20:22:07
I think Jackman does much better in animation. Most of his live action work is average for me. I liked the new theme and it's full statement in Taking A Stand. Aside from a few tracks, it's another standard RCP stuff.

I think the Cap theme from the good guys vs bad guys clip with the horns is missing. A closely resembling part shows up at the beginning of Lemurian Star.

Edmund Meinerts2014-03-17 21:09:40
The quality difference between Jackman's regular action projects and his animated or comedy ones is incredible. It's almost like they're two different composers. I wonder why that is??

Lambegue2014-03-17 22:14:27
Well I think he did a very good job on X-Men first class, and even the kick ass movies have quite a nice score...

Edmund Meinerts2014-03-17 22:17:55
X-Men is the exception (and even there, I'd say the underscore itself is only's the themes that make it better than average). And note I did say animated OR comedy. Kick-Ass is comedy, sort of.

Lambegue2014-03-17 22:22:08
Oh yes, I missed the "Comedy" in your post.
Maybe there is more pressure coming from the director or the studios on big action projects...

badbu2014-03-18 09:59:53
"Lemurian Star" and "Captain America"! very nice tracks!

Yep. The movie also releases in many parts of the world earlier than the US. A common trend with Marvel.

Saurabh reply Replies: 2 || 2014-03-16 21:40:03
Just listened to it. Lemurian Star is badass and Captain America is ok. The Winter Soldier is an electronic experiment with screeching effects. The highlight for me is Taking A Stand, which ushers the new noble Cap theme in it's full glory. The rest is bland.

Loved the music in the new Good Guys vs Bad Guys clip. Especially the horns that kick in when Cap runs. Gives a paramilitary/black ops vibe. I think this is part of the new Cap theme.

Saurabh reply Replies: 1 || 2014-03-14 14:40:43
Looks pretty generic. Same old frantic strings.

Ds2014-03-14 15:42:57
"generic" is the very definition of each and every Marvel movie, why would it be any different for the music? It's just the way the studio like their movies...

Jackman said somewhere it will be "thematic, heroic music".

BTW, is it set before or after Iron Man 3?

Lambegue2014-03-13 18:02:09
After. Here's the chronology of phase two :
Iron Man 3 ; six months after "Avengers"
Thor 2 ; One year after "Avengers"
Captain America 2 : Two years after "Avengers"

RealFfingMusic2014-03-13 22:50:14
It's a bit confusing.

And what's the time gap between Avengers 1 & 2?

Wonder why they didn't get Alan Silvestri.

Edmund Meinerts2014-03-08 16:09:45
Good question. Unfortunately I doubt Jackman will use Silvestri's theme (he'll probably come up with some bullshit excuse about how it's not appropriate anymore because he's not in World War 2...), but I hope he at least comes up with something to match it.

isildur2014-03-08 17:52:31

Edmund Meinerts2014-03-08 18:07:07
Music doesn't sound very promising. :/

Frank2014-03-08 19:46:18
I don't think a new style for captain america is a bad thing. According to this preview and the information we already had, this movie is more like the Bourne series rather than some old fashion WWII movies

Edmund Meinerts2014-03-08 20:03:17
A new style isn't necessarily a bad thing. But why THIS style? This sounds as though it could be from any modern action flick. There's nothing that will let it stand out as "Captain America music" to filmgoers. Say what you want about Silvestri's score, at least it was a little bit distinct.

Lambegue2014-03-08 21:11:32
Let's wait until we can hear the full thing. I would be disappointed if this one is not excellent, knowing how good Jackman can be
