Most probablyI am not a hybrid, i will try to give my opinion. I think, music in 5 season will come out when and 6 season. But I really want to be wrong!!! :)It's very sad...(((The 'Allentown Brothers' track is pretty damn awesome (find it on YouTube). It's like a mix between gothic Elfman, Desperate Housewives and Transformers. I love it.<br><br>It's one of those scores that people don't talk about much but it's actually pretty cool. <br><br>An awesome venue would be the Opera House in Odessa.
Want this so bad!!!Does anyone have a breakdown of this with the official score album?<br>Hats off to Batu Sener for working on many of the score's best cues though! It all comes to personal preference I think. Personally I’ve moved on from collecting cd’s (or anything really) and would rather have everything digital simply to utilize space. <br><br>That being said, I completely understand the appeals of having physical media, it would be sad to see that go away for the people who really love it.It's not only to appreciate the work, its to have something "real" in your hands, for your music collection. I don't like only to have a digital music archive. Of course, i rip all the cds i own to WAV and MP3. But i want to have them in my physical music collection.
These day, sure. But we usually get news of the next one by the time he's finished wrapping up the current one.Powell only does 1 score a year.Still no news on his next score? Is he taking a break or something? Working on more concert stuff? Was pleasantly surprised by this one when I first heard it. Outside of the ‘modern scoring’ portions you get some fun noir music for the squad, solid action writing, and even some good emotional cues.<br><br>Also gotta love the rhythmic idea from Antz popping up here...Also, the use of the guitars by Jablonsky, are still the best since the 90s
I give a spin (almost 4 years after my last listening), it grown on me (still don't consider of the best of Jab), but much better than Skyscraper (ok score) and Battleship (guilty pleasure, but not a good score by any means), i like the style of Jablonsky in this one, his rhythms (but i still don't care about the 'motif' for Cohen or certain sound design tracks like 'You Can't Shoot Me' or 'You Know the Drill')<br><br>But still has such cool action moments (Hot Potato With a Grenade) and emotional/romantic moments, and still enjoyed that from this.<3 Buck Takes the LeadHybrid do you know what cues Mancina worked on here? I read in the Twister booklet that the director heard a cue from this and wanted Hans for Twister but he told him that it was actually Mark.100% for HybridSoldier!I am very glad we have 2 scores by Steve this year. Waiting for Spenser Confidential.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I just noticed under Dom Lewis' composer page a cue from X-Men: Days of Future Past. That's really interesting, especially considering the ghostwriting rumors that have always surrounded John Ottman. I wonder how that happened?

Adam2014-10-20 04:21:44
You're right, Edmund! It seems to be the first half of "Do What You Were Made For". Thanks for pointing this out.

Hybrid Soldier2014-10-20 08:56:45
I found this at BMI, surprising indeed... He just helped out for a week on it, working on a couple of cues, which then got rearranged by Ottman...

Adam2014-10-20 16:23:16
Cool, hanks for that info Hybrid! Do you know if there's any other credits?

Hybrid Soldier2014-10-20 16:34:14
For Days of Future Past ?

From what I saw yeah looks like the additionals are getting royalties lol... But just go to BMI.com, the repertoire search section, search Ottman John V, and have fun...

Adam2014-10-20 18:39:14
Ya I found a bunch! Thanks! :D

polob2014-10-20 22:44:32
and how we can hear the tracks from BMI ?

Hybrid Soldier2014-10-20 23:43:35
You can't it's just cue sheets... not cues... lol

Adam2014-10-20 23:45:31
polob, you don't need to anyway! Every track on the OST is listed on BMI :)

polob2014-10-22 23:27:19
and how Hybrid can have the cue??

Edmund Meinerts reply Replies: 6 || 2014-05-15 15:57:24
Has anyone noticed how much the main theme of this sounds like the Jade theme from The Rock? Just listen to "Ocellata Turkeys" - it sounds exactly like "Jade" if orchestrated by John Powell.

Mike2014-05-15 16:18:16
Wow. You're right! That's really funny.

Mike2014-05-15 16:22:28
Things like this make me wonder why Hans Zimmer got accused of plagiarism with the Gladiator Waltz, while stuff like this, much more blatant, are able to slide by undetected. Maybe it's because Zimmer is more popular than Lewis, but it's weird either way (or another example is the Luke and Leia theme from National Treasure 2....lol).

Edmund Meinerts2014-05-15 16:39:09
Maybe it's because the Gladiator Waltz is a lengthy piece that's clearly written in the style of Holst, whereas this cue has a melodic similarity, but a very different "feel" to it.

I think the Gladiator/Holst thing is a little overblown, though. Sure, the similarity is there, but it's not exactly lawsuit-worthy...

Hybrid Soldier2014-05-15 17:11:56
Yeah just like Broken Arrow and that Edelman thing was no lawsuit-worthy either... But it nearly happened...

Anyway the Jade thing is real but you know, it's not like it's intentional, yeah the melody is the same but 2 composers can come up with the suite of notes, can't they ? :P

Edmund Meinerts2014-05-15 17:44:55
Did Edelman have issues when that theme popped up again in Pirates of the Caribbean? :p

Hybrid Soldier2014-05-15 18:57:31
If you ask me Edelman can go f... himself big time ! ;)

Edmund Meinerts reply Replies: 7 || 2014-01-25 13:54:29
Sorry to be such a nitpicker, but if Beth Caucci is only credited for "additional arrangements," what does that mean for the cues where she's credited? Did she do any actual composing?

Hybrid Soldier2014-01-25 16:23:34
The cues are Dom... She just added some things to it (string sections, percs, whatever)...

Edmund Meinerts2014-01-25 20:23:04
Ah, okay. So if I understand it correctly, the "architecture" of the cues is pure Dom, but some of the embellishments/orchestrations/whatever are put in by Beth. All right. I think I'll go with a 75%/25% split then (don't ask...my ratings system is ridiculous and it's the reason why I ask all these questions).

Fun score by the way! Helps make up for Powell's absence. Although the theme makes me think of The Rock ("Jade")...

Hybrid Soldier2014-01-25 21:01:09
Actually such a rating system does exist in cue sheet to determine royalties !

I've seen it very rarely but for instance some Wreck-It Ralph cues, which are Jackman 75% Lewis 25% or whatever...

Mike2014-01-26 16:25:38
Really? What other RCP scores have those? That could be interesting to know for folks like MacArthur... ;) No offense, MacArthur.

Hybrid Soldier2014-01-26 16:43:02
Iron Man, partly...

POTC 4, but that's of no use...

Mike2014-01-26 16:44:18
I'm sorry, but why's POTC4's of no use?

Hybrid Soldier2014-01-26 17:13:47
Because it's just HZ / Badelt / Neely / RyG ! ;)

Hybrid Soldier reply Replies: 6 || 2013-10-16 19:09:06
First Dom Lewis score, can't wait to hear that ! :)

Edmund Meinerts2013-10-16 20:06:08
If this score doesn't sound very, very much like John Powell and Henry Jackman I'll be quite surprised. :p

Sounds amazing. Can't wait for this. :)

Hybrid Soldier2013-11-01 00:13:38
Actually, this score REALLY is love child of Powell & Jackman !

95% Orchestral only.

Very nice effort... :)

Frisbee2013-11-04 08:03:37
I concur Hybrid Soldier's statement. Fans of John Powell's works for Blue Sky Animated Studio's movies will certainly be pleased with this. (Personally, I am digging all the wordplay in track titles too!)

This got a CD Release, finally. I'm very glad to see that it got a release like that. It needed a proper release.
