Looks like Zimmer's abandoned Z+. It only worked on one iOS system, then because it wasn't recompiled for the next system wouldn't decode the music you paid for. Locking your purchases into an app was a VERY BAD idea. Now there's nothing out there that's as good at providing a great surround sound experience for headphones. So Lorne's mp3 uploads. Would anyone class that as an 'official' release of the music from the movie?Currently watching this movie the first time ^^ ... and then... suddenly a music motive spontaneously pops up. Sound exactly like a little part from Armageddon "Secondary Protocol" - really cool :) love the music in this movie. Very intense.I don't mean to pile on but do you really think that Hans touring is the only obstacle to a CD release of a completely forgotten 12-year-old film and score by a different composer? And why would Hans' tours be responsible for the fact that many albums these days don't get a physical release? While at the same time those tours even got an LP release... lol
You are aware that there's a pandemic going on right now, right?I'm pretty sure that neither did he.I know Geoff does fantasy films and he is good at that, but I didn't want this.Lovely score by Atli, but also a bit typical for this kind of movie. This suite is all you need from this score. The songs are really great. Especially Double Trouble, Husavik and Running With The Wolves (i wish this song would be longer). Very nice movie and with a great soundtrack. Please tell me. When time come to Moscow.
Wtf is up with that Time remix with Alan Walker?@ Michael Hayko
cause yeah, there really is a market for a physical CD of a mediocre score of a film that everybody has forgotten even exists........said no one everOkay Zimmer it's time to get back to producing physical CDs and put your live performances on hold. You can start by producing 'Deception' it's such an amazing score! Okay you've had your fun pretending to be a rockstar now let's get back to the business of film music please!Top news :

https://variety.com/2020/music/news/hans-zimmer-interview-bo nd-dune-lion-king-ascap-awards-1234646855/
i did not realize i put shit instead of shine lmaoooo fml I'm out of here lolHow do I get this soundtrack??? Dying to hear it.Oh, sorry, I thought we are talking about Dune here.I remember Hans directly responding to me on Facebook saying that this score is gonna be mostly him. Oh well, from the "Kawczynski - Mazzaro" duo, Steve is at least a much, much better choice. And as Hybrid says, it might be embellished.Yeah, Zimmer has already say things like that. That is how he build his empire.

A brilliant score, no matter what some people might say. Some of the darkest and most beautiful themes by Hans Zimmer were born here, as well as a lot of very exciting and propulsive electronic techniques.
Heck, I even like the movie! The score fits like a glove.
It helps that I'm a huge Tony Scott fan though.

Zimmer would even 'steal' from this score quite a bit in some of his later films. The 'Wayne Manor Suite' from TDKR comes to mind, as well as one of the Blade Runner 2049 themes being strangely similar to The Fan's 'Opening Titles' theme, and I'm sure there are other examples.

I would love for a complete version to be officially released sometime. It's very unlikely, but one can dream...

Finally got a chance to listen to this one all the way through (after seeing the film) and I can definitely see why HZ is proud of it. It's funny that he says "Inferno" is his most experimental/dark score because honestly, I think The Fan takes the cake.

You can hear a lot of obvious foreshadowing of some of Zimmer's later work; the piano/heartbeat effect from Hannibal, the electronics of Chappie, even some of the whispering for Electro. Also props to the beautiful incorporation of the main theme in "Letting Go"

My only gripe is that this doesn't belong with a better film, I feel like more people would discover and appreciate it alongside something like The Rock or Crimson Tide.

Oh, and forgot to mention the EXTREMELY obvious inspiration for The Kraken in "Gil's End"!

Michael Poleschuck2017-02-16 03:49:19
Yeah, you're right! It's fantastic!

So from what I found HGW wrote 5 cues of this score, Rona 3...

Gonna need some checking before I can tell which cues ! lol

I really love this score. It seems to always be forgotten about

The Fan expanded score is ultimately one of the BEST soundtrack Hans have ever composed. 1996 was indeed the Year of Hans. "Broken Arrow", "The Rock"... and now, The Fan. Main Titles and Game Tension are just a few of my favorite tracks and Terrence Trent D'Arby (Sign Your Name, Wishing Well, etc.) have done a tremendous job performing "Letting Go" and it was, in my POV, emotional.

Great score! The main theme is so simple and efficient in the movie and outside!

I noticed a thing : Transformers "Skorponok" theme has a lot of similarities with some cues of this score. Example : Gil Falling Down : 1:00 - 2:00 Sacré steve! :D

Edmund Meinerts2014-05-08 13:59:46
What's this? The Transformers score sounding like something older? The devil you say?!

I just "found" this myself; looking forward to giving it a listen once I've got my damn finals out of the way...

Hulk2014-05-08 14:12:41
I don't said the devil by the way! :D

Edmund Meinerts2014-05-08 14:26:08
I know, I know, it's just an expression. Jablonsky's scores are known for helping themselves to the occasional idea or theme from a previous score, so this doesn't really come as a surprise to me, is all. ;)

Hybrid Soldier2014-05-08 14:41:21
Before being blamed, Steve would need to have anything to do with Skorponok...

Edmund Meinerts2014-05-08 15:01:15
So is Skorponok really a solo Trevor Morris cue? Not Jablonsky/Morris, but just Morris?

Hybrid Soldier2014-05-08 15:08:56
Oh Morris did work on it, and probably was not alone... Anyway... I told The Fan is the father of many scores... :)

LP2014-05-08 18:42:56
I thought Harry did more work on this. And Jeff Rona did a few cues toward the end, involving rain/water (since he had worked on White Squall)

Hybrid Soldier2014-05-08 19:02:54
Harry didn't write on The Fan... He only conducted it...

Rona worked on a few cues like The Rescue or Fans Are Losers...

LP 2014-05-08 19:52:24
Thank you for the clarification.

FINALLY!!! Excellent stuff, just great. Game Tension is superb!!

rockhound2014-05-09 08:04:29
I also thought, that Harry Gregson-Williams was more involved in this score, because a couple of tracks have the Enemy Of The State sound. Harry also said in his Tony Scott tribute on facebook the following:

"I first met Tony way back on his rather grim movie 'The Fan'. You could say it was on that score that Hans Zimmer passed scoring duties of his movies over to me."

But maybe he meant that in a different way. Nonetheless it is a fantastic score by Hans.

Hybrid Soldier2014-05-09 09:08:45
Harry meant The Fan was Hans' last score for Tony and he handled after...

And yeah, the big EOTS rips are just temptrack...

Steve2014-05-10 01:02:54
ummm how were there EOTS temptracks in The Fan if EOTS hadn't come out yet??

Hybrid Soldier2014-05-10 09:14:42
I obviously meant the other way around...

Hybrid: It would be great if you could put up an additional track on the player - perhaps Game Tension or Gil's End :)

Mike reply Replies: 2 || 2013-09-12 17:14:28
"Main Titles" is fantastic.
