Is there any word or time frame on the second release?Jenny of Oldstones was an old song in Westeros about a common woman named Jenny of Oldstones, a strange woman who a Targaryen prince rejected his claim to the throne to be with. Before a big battle, a character sings this song and a montage of the various characters plays as they prepare for battle. So that is the melody. The lyrics go like this:

High in the halls of the kings who are gone,
Jenny would dance with her ghosts;
The ones she had lost and the ones she had found
The ones who had loved her the most;
the ones who've been gone for so very long, she couldn't remember their names
they spun her around on the damp old stone
Spun away all her sorrow and pain.
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave.

They danced through the day and into the night
Through the snow that swept through the hall
From winter to summer and winter again
Till the walls did crumble and fall
And she never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave, never wanted to leave.
Hybrid, please update this list. Is it possible that you could include the alternate/album version of Main On Ends (AKA Taking A Stand)?COMPLETE SCORES ARE AWESOMECareful, talking about complete scores or recording sessions can get your comment removed now.
No more superhero film score for me, he said .... :DThe complete score is so amazing!! I saw on YouTube too.CD RELEASE????PosiblyA surprise reference to be sure, but a welcome one.
The same thing happened to me George@Michael Baker - I can’t be the only one who read that as Han Solo right?Yeah... Wait till CD 2 and I'm sure we'll get a much stronger idea of what's solo Hans in here.@Edmund
I wonder if this is one of those situations where the material in film is derived heavily from the suites, with everyone either arranging it or adding elements onto it. Just guessing of course, I’m sure we’ll get a clear picture once the bonus stuff gets released.

And apparently there is about 16 hours of music “lying around”, going off of what Hans mentioned in the Vi-Control forums."heavily influenced" indeed :D
I really love Amity and I love how the theme appears in several other cues:
Reckless which features an epic/action rendition
Insertion = a short quote at the beginning
Coda = another call back to the theme

Been listening to the score since I saw the film. Love it. Eagerly waiting for CD2. I wonder if it includes an extended version of the last 2 minutes of Insertion - INCREDIBLE.

Well, our wishes came true! Now they are making another Lion King movie and they have brought Zimmer back :D
In about one month we'll hear the new music.

It is well known the similarity between part of the score of this movie and Pirate's. I was wondering why they didn't release it separately or even inside this album. Is there any reason? Or they fact that they didn't release it was strategic? It is indeed helpful to re-use stuff when it is officially out there.

The Lion King 2 is a Direct to Video movie, therefore it's considered a "lesser project", as well as its score.
Back in 1998, original scores were less trendy than today, song albums were often all we got, especially coming from Disney (another exemple: The Tigger Movie).

It's pretty sad, as TLK2 contains a good score by Nick Glennie-Smith, in between The Rock and Pirates, with a "Lion King" flavor.

I've noticed something curious during my digging into the ASCAP archies: one cue, apparently simply titled "The Lion King" which is also assigned the name "Lion King II Cues", was done by Zimmer. It wouldn't refer to the only pre-existing track in the film ("He Lives In You") which according to my copy of Rhythm Of The Pride Lands, Zimmer had nothing to do. It'd be a stretch to say it would be the end hit of "Circle Of Life" which can be heard at the title card. So, I'm wondering if Zimmer DID compose something for the film, maybe something that ended up rejected.

just now seeing this but that sounds interesting. did they originally want zimmer involved? i mean nick glennie smith is the next best thing for this series but that would be interesting

Zimmer probably demands far too high a price tag for a direct-to-DVD Disney sequel to afford.

Mike 2016-06-15 17:04:28
Well, he did do some consulting with Daniel Pelfrey for Joseph: King of Dreams following Prince of Egypt and, according to Pelfrey's website, helped out with song production. Granted, that's not nearly the same as being onboard for the project. :P

Mike 2016-06-15 17:05:44
...and "Joseph" was Dreamworks, not Disney, which Zimmer has always been involved with anyway.

ggctuk2016-06-16 09:01:54
I'd completely forgotten about this being a thing. I agree with Edmund: Zimmer was probably too expensive for a direct-to-video sequel. I wouldn't have been surprised if he did consultation work with Nick Glennie-Smith.

Sad that none of the score is on here, despite it not being a shade on Zimmer's score for the first, it did have some good moments that would have made nice suites. His site has a few low-fi tracks in mono, but that's not the same thing.

Maybe someday, if Intrada keeps delving into the Disney Vault, the scores to all the Lion King films will appear, if not complete, then at least expanded. Here's hoping.

Yes! The music of 'Lion King' is a pre-pirate composition. The theme is the same with a little variation and the old percus of MediaVentures.

Nick Glennie Smith is really one of the best composers of Remote Control sequels.

I couldn't stop thinking of Pirates and Johnny Depp when watching the action scenes of this movie.
