Lately I have been listening to the album carefully, and the truth is that I did not quite understand why Hans did not just use a big orchestra instead of the synthesizer. It would have really been interesting to see Ritcher scoring a chase on the photo, although without a doubt his work would not have been anything generic.Richter is a conceptual artist, I love his Leftovers score, but come one, scoring to picture ?

He writes pieces that are used in scenes, not the other way around...

Richter scoring a moon buggy chase ? Hell no... lol you could see from day one it was gonna be replaced...^ Yeah the edit floating around matches Felix’s almost to a T. Only major difference is

“Our Final Stand - Showdown - United Greece - Finale”

Which is broken up into four separate cues. Realistically you could edit it anyway you want if you prefer the smaller cues. Personally, I like the long suite-like format of this release. Kinda like the album release for “Event Horizon” lol.I hope they at least release Richter's score.
My Edit:

01. Rise Of An Empire - Marathon - King Darius - Artemisia - Man To God - War (13:36)
=

M1A Rise of An Empire (09:48)
M1B From Man to God King (03:44)

02. well, from what Lorne wrote on Twitter, it should be releasedCool thanks for getting back! I am still a little bit confused though. Do any Basil Poledouris cues go somewhere in that list? It’s been a very very long time since I have seen the film. The Hans cues used are :

1M1 OPENING CREDITS / MAIN TITLE (USED FROM 2:18 TO 3:03)
1M2 GOLDEN STAIRCASE (USED FROM 0:00 TO 1:56)
2M2 JACK SEES WOLVES
2M3 BLACK WOLF
2M6 THE TREK CONTINUES (USED FROM 0:28 TO 1:15)
3M1 THIN ICE
3M2 SKUNKER'S DEATH
3M3 FULL MOON WOLF ATTACK
3M3A MORNING WOLF ATTACK
6M4 THE BEAR
6M4A THE BEAR ATTACK
7M3 IN THE STABLE
7M5 WHITE FANG FIGHTS SATAN
8M1 FIGHT MONTAGE (FIRST HALF USED)
8M3 PIT FIGHT (FINAL 20 SEC USED)

All the rest, by definition, is Basil's score...Hey hybrid soldier! You mentioned on the ghost in the shell page about white fang so I came here! Can you give us a list of the cues as they appear in the film please? The Basil Poledouris cues and the Hans Zimmer cues pleaseI imagined it ... hopefully this time Max Ritcher does not give him a lollipop and refuses to launch his music
Yes Unbreakable.

Exactly like White Fang. Have Poledouris write a score, then HZ do another, then pick what you want from both.

Ghost In The Shell was kinda different...In the credits of the movie, Max Ritcher appears as the Main Composer, meanwhile, Lorne appears as Additional MusicI find that it would be best to accredit both and launch the two soundtracks and all happy.Hybrid implies that Max Ritcher's score was rejected, and that Lorne made a new one and in the end, the best of both has been used. I am right?ANd now apparently another guy is scoring it as well lmao

Shameful music compaired to Zimmer's score. If they ever make another Lion King movie please bring ZIMMER back!!!!

Well, our wishes came true! Now they are making another Lion King movie and they have brought Zimmer back :D
In about one month we'll hear the new music.

It is well known the similarity between part of the score of this movie and Pirate's. I was wondering why they didn't release it separately or even inside this album. Is there any reason? Or they fact that they didn't release it was strategic? It is indeed helpful to re-use stuff when it is officially out there.

The Lion King 2 is a Direct to Video movie, therefore it's considered a "lesser project", as well as its score.
Back in 1998, original scores were less trendy than today, song albums were often all we got, especially coming from Disney (another exemple: The Tigger Movie).

It's pretty sad, as TLK2 contains a good score by Nick Glennie-Smith, in between The Rock and Pirates, with a "Lion King" flavor.

I've noticed something curious during my digging into the ASCAP archies: one cue, apparently simply titled "The Lion King" which is also assigned the name "Lion King II Cues", was done by Zimmer. It wouldn't refer to the only pre-existing track in the film ("He Lives In You") which according to my copy of Rhythm Of The Pride Lands, Zimmer had nothing to do. It'd be a stretch to say it would be the end hit of "Circle Of Life" which can be heard at the title card. So, I'm wondering if Zimmer DID compose something for the film, maybe something that ended up rejected.

just now seeing this but that sounds interesting. did they originally want zimmer involved? i mean nick glennie smith is the next best thing for this series but that would be interesting

Zimmer probably demands far too high a price tag for a direct-to-DVD Disney sequel to afford.

Mike 2016-06-15 17:04:28
Well, he did do some consulting with Daniel Pelfrey for Joseph: King of Dreams following Prince of Egypt and, according to Pelfrey's website, helped out with song production. Granted, that's not nearly the same as being onboard for the project. :P

Mike 2016-06-15 17:05:44
...and "Joseph" was Dreamworks, not Disney, which Zimmer has always been involved with anyway.

ggctuk2016-06-16 09:01:54
I'd completely forgotten about this being a thing. I agree with Edmund: Zimmer was probably too expensive for a direct-to-video sequel. I wouldn't have been surprised if he did consultation work with Nick Glennie-Smith.

Sad that none of the score is on here, despite it not being a shade on Zimmer's score for the first, it did have some good moments that would have made nice suites. His site has a few low-fi tracks in mono, but that's not the same thing.

Maybe someday, if Intrada keeps delving into the Disney Vault, the scores to all the Lion King films will appear, if not complete, then at least expanded. Here's hoping.

Yes! The music of 'Lion King' is a pre-pirate composition. The theme is the same with a little variation and the old percus of MediaVentures.

Nick Glennie Smith is really one of the best composers of Remote Control sequels.

I couldn't stop thinking of Pirates and Johnny Depp when watching the action scenes of this movie.
