The App is not out yet, I'm just able to be a beta tester with full content.
It's fun & working, I guess it'll be out very soon.
The Theme Suites are great.
Everyone should just, at the occasion, take a deep breath & listen to Wayne Manor. It really is something.

Hybrid, is it more of the same? Or some new themes?
Also much action and percussion or slower tracks?
And what's the price? I hope not 14.99 euro like inception cause that is totally overpriced for an in-app purchase.

Like a lot of other games and programs for computers, apps contain quite a bit of files and data. Somewhere in the data for this TDKR app should be four audio files that will most likely be WAVs or maybe mp3s (at least, it was about that simple for the Inception Dream App). It's just that you'll have to buy the app to be able to download it and look through its files. You don't have to have an Apple device to access this music.
Alternatively, you can just wait for someone who does have the software and hardware and money and skills to extract the music and upload it somewhere (since we are living in the times of piracy right now).

I get the Bonus track from Apple iphone app and it's along suite 52 min full & complete [ Wayne Manor(22:05)+Bane(19:49)+Orphan (4:51)+Selina Kyle (5:41) ], yes the sound quality isn't good as you all say, it's only (m4a 98k/s) but it is good for now, and for me my favourite cues are (Wayne Manor & Selina Kyle) the most complete suites of; Imagine the fire (Wayne Manor) and Mind If I Cut In? (Selina Kyle),It really is a wonderful work of H,z.

The 96kbps files seem to be the core information. They are also heavily clipped. There are better quality versions out there.
Thought the music worked a lot better in the film than on the album personally. Was surprised at how well the Catwoman stuff worked. "Risen From Darkness" sounds way better in the film as well. Sounded a bit like a pop song the way it was mixed on the album.
Seen the film and obviously AMAZING!! but so much great action music that's been released was nowhere in the film and they just again use the beginning of the credits theme over & over.
Just hoping the sessions leak eventually because the highlight cue for me was the opening scene!

Feedthemachine
2012-07-21 02:51:43
Most of the action music was variations of Gotham's Reckoning. One part that wasn't released was an epic all-string version of Bane's theme after he had taken of Gotham.
Zimmer's most recent good scores IMO if complete: (Not counting PG movies or lower, not counting anything before 2005)
Dead Man's Chest At World's End Batman Begins Dark Knight Da Vinci Code Angels & Demons Sherlock Holmes A Game Of Shadows (Complete and on the proper pitch, yes) Inception
I tell by DVD rips, complete ways and what not.
Dark Knight Rises is ok, but a blend of everything we've heard. It does better if you say its more so a 'continuation' of BB & TDK. BB and TDK were actually quite different in terms of sound, as were the films. Zimmer doesn't live up to the hype this time. :/ Perhaps if he released complete things, but for the moment... the album edits suck. Not the music, but the way it's produced. I feel everyone would enjoy his scores more if they were produced more properly and not like a kid did it. What college did they go to to produce such terrible representations of albums? Like seriously? FULL SCORES> PEOPLE WILL BUY THEM AND ENJOY THEM!!! Ill even help pay to produce them if money is the question. How much, tell me. Ill help you out, hans!
Hybrid I have issues with the app, I do like it alot, but I want to download the free discussions and buy the other music and I can't, it says that I'm not logged into the app store or the internet and I am

dear hans, i am a big fan of your music, i really loving your work and hearing it every day. i'm not hearing anymore music from the radio, those damn pop songs etc, but only scores and especially your work, like the thin red line, last samurai etc.
I've heard so many times batman begins and the dark knight. especially batman begins was a masterpiece. the parts from james were absolutely beautiful, but also your action cues were majestic, like molossus etc. tdk was a little bit a disappointement, as james haven't work THAT much anymore on there, and i don't know what it was, but tdk doesn't sound THAT beautiful like begins.
then it was time for tdkr, i eagerly awaited this score, you've promoted it as the most epic batman score you've done, you've created something BRAND new. i always read from interviews how epic it is going to be, it will be so much greater then begins and tdk etc. i really had my hopes high and i expected something epic, like you've said! and the movie is going to be the final one, the end. so i thought you really were going to put all your energy and bring us something that will knock us from our chairs. you see, that i had high expectations ^^
now i've heard your tdkr score, not only one time, not only twice, i heard it very very often, to give the score the chance to grow. but seriously, and i'm sorry to say, it is a HUGE HUGE HUGE DISSAPPOINTMENT. where are the new things you've created, where are the themes, where is the epicness you've promised? what i'm hearing in the score are only reprises from batman begins and tdk, and also some mixes of both movies. those "new" melodies and parts of the score, which are only a few, are also some reprises from transformers, pirates and sherlock holmes. i don't know what happened here... was it too much from me for hoping to hear something more and some more cues that are sounding a bit more new than just remixes of begins and tdk? and hearing over and over so many parts from transformers and all those other past scores?
i don't want to blame you, i really love your work, you're truely gifted with talent of creating so beautiful music, and you've showed us so many times, what masterpieces you can bring, but tdkr is a huge dissappointment and i just can't understand anymore your words of those interviews as i'm missing them on your score. i'm sorry for those words, but i just had to say it.
i only can wish, that you'll get back at your style from the 90s and early 2000s times, with music like the thin red line, last samurai, pearl harbour, lion king, as all your current works aren't that great anymore. maybe you just need a break, to collect ideas, to get fresh again...?
thank you again for all of your past works and hope to see you soon again with some beautiful scores :)
Feedthemachine
2012-07-17 14:07:27
TDKR may not have been his best score, but it definitely wasn't just recycled material; there were plenty of new themes.
D A R T H
2012-07-17 18:50:25
Like pirate of the caribean 4. Maybe the Album in worser than the complete score... my note :
potc4 :album 2/5 / complete score : 3,5/5
this score is better with all bonus tracks
Without 2/5, with 3/5, complete score ?/5
^_^
Smitty
2012-07-17 19:03:14
problem is that those new themes are also some recycled materials from other movies. like i said, transformers, pirates and so on. totally uninspired, no ideas and no structure at all in this.
and it breaks my heart while saying this, as i'm a huge huge huge hans zimmer fan and loved the batman music from begins so much and also tdk. but tdkr is really sadly a dissappointement.
there is still hope that with a recording session and those app-cues the overall of the music will get better and i can change my mind to this :)
So, next step is the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch App called "The Dark Knight Rises Z+" !
I won't say much about it, it's something the Inception App. Should be very interesting.
What kept my interest is the following statement :
"Additional Z+ content will be available as an in-app purchase, including a special “Origins” pack that features an extra 55 minutes of music. “Origins” comprises four original suites (“Wayne Manor”, “Bane”, “Selina Kyle”, and “Orphan”), representing the musical DNA for The Dark Knight Rises. Zimmer wrote these pieces while the film was in the early stages of development, and they served as the blueprints for what would become the final soundtrack."
:)

Hi Hybrid, I have questions about that.. well obviously the score is out, and every single track is in the track list above... My questions are... when can we see this app probably coming out? and also, to get the origins special pack we have to buy that pack or we have to buy the app? could you answer that? I mean just to make it a bit clearer... But I'm really looking forward for this! sounds pretty cool!

Hey Hybrid, do you know why Hans focused this time on providing actual score on the CD instead of suites? Is it because fans are asking for it and most reviews mention it?
Cause in that case we have to remain vocal for his next movies.

cheesy
2012-07-11 17:47:38
They did not cut anything out of Gotham's Reckoning. I'm getting sick of people thinking that the Nokia trailer music was supposed to be a part of the "Gotham's Reckoning" track. This is now and always has been the prologue music.
People seem to disregard Bane's theme as actually being Bane's theme, and rather just music from the trailer. It's going to recur and it's going to be in different forms.
Oh, and it takes a special kind of idiot to think that the Nokia/MTV trailer music is supposed to be Batman's theme. Or nickname the cue "The Caped Crusader."
Intellectuals
2012-07-11 17:56:30
If you actually read what I said, you would know I never said it had anything to do with the nokia trailer or any other trailer.
It's a percussion sequence at around 4:00 in the prologue -- a part that they edited out of the OST version. (aka it's the drum sequence where Bane takes the blood out of the doctor and then the music pauses)
cheesy

since yesterday ive heard it many times...i´m no musician, i just listen, compare a little to other sounds...i know if i´ll love music even when i hear it 1st and these track just simply great - it´s what i´ve expected...thx to mr. zimmer & team and greetings from germany...
I can't believe that they are people around here believing that Hans Zimmer will create a whole new soundtrack. That is not the point. One note can make the difference and that's the point. He slightly changed some cues and it's pretty damn good! And here we have, at least, 6 new cues (2-3 new themes). I think it's pretty enough for à third and last movie.
JNH part was good but all that darkness from previous soundtrack came from Zimmer's work not JNH.
Plus, remember that in the end, it's all down to Nolan's choices. That being said, Nolan described this last movie as a "full circle". The movie who will end the trilogy. So you got to dig in the past to make the bond with the current movie. If you have something to reproach to Zimmer you better reproach it to Nolan because he is the one who take decision and have the last word in working process... And you can't reproach anything to Nolan concerning Batman... IMO
After so weak score, I'm afraid that Man of Steel would be a disaster...
Shame, Mr Zimmer. You sais that 3rd part will be epic, but that was just words...

In my opinion it sounds epic to have been done by himself... Now the only issue is that if he would have done the other 2 soundtracks by himself then this would have sounded AWESOME, but james newton howard wasn't unboard on this one so it was a change we could hear from the emotion in music and for hans being on himself than being with james... I do believe man of steel will sound epic because it will be his first take on that franchise and no other muscisian is helping out... Remember that you should not compare the new man of steel theme with the old, because even the film itself just as batman is different from the old classic ones, but do respect your opinion

No other musicians? Check the credits for TDKR - Hans never work alone, unfortunately. Always ~10-15 co-writers/producers/orchestrators involved in composing (or should I say generating?) music. JNH was fine addition - he brought beauty and 'softness' to Nolans vision. Without him it's not the same. Hans lost his ability to write nice themes. Underscore and mindless use of RCP samples. I just expected more. Music in TDKR would probably work, but I have a bad feeling that temp-track from previous movies would work also.
So, did Hans use the recordings he asked from the world for mixing Bane's Chant, cause it seems that he didn't. The chant stands faded away in the composition. I assume that it was just a marketing thing...

Don't assume that hans will use bane's chant during the whole 70 minutes of score.. he actually needs to create variations and rhythm for the movie.. this is just half of the music in the movie.. I bet you will be able to hear a heavier chant during the movie and a much longer version... but for the score I didn't expected him to use the chant as the whole score it would have sucked.. He mixed all 3 soundtracks perfectly in this one, which that helps us remember the other 2 films and the journey of bruce wayne... Actually one of Hans best works so far.

Well if I compare the other trilogy (POTC).
Batman is way better!
POTC theme < Molossus The Kraken/Jack Sparrow < Why So Serious/Like A Dog Chasing Cars I Don't Think Now Is The Best Time/ Drink Up Me Hearties < Rise (or Imagine The Fire)/ Gotham's Recknoning.
Really, The Dark Knight Rises is one of his best soundtrack ever no doubt that. He perfectly combines all of the major cues i(BB + TDK) and creates new ones that are massive!
I wonder if they gonna make a concert premier as they did for TDK or Inception.

Sorry, but the Pirates 3 score is way better than the Batman scores standalone (No way Molossus is better than the POTC theme). However, in the movies the Batman scores induced the mood better.

I admit pirates is a good soundtrack, I like the kraken track but the 3 pirates soundtrack was the best of the four, but I loved molossus but now I only like it, I mean, no stone unturned is the new thing! its perfect to me! but it's always a thing of taste, I in my case hear more batman than pirates but true that the 3rd pirates soundtrack is really good!

@Mitsos, I too am disappointed by the lack of the deshi basara chant. I was expecting it to be much more prominent in the album :'(

The At worlds end score really brought a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy with new themes and tunes that weren't totally rehashed like stranger tides. I like the dark knight rises album, but I think the potential that it could have been better with James newton howard really dims the light on it. It's not bad, but it's not the greatest. If anything, Hans needs a break.

the chant is used frequently...

I agree with much of the above.
At World's End gave us a satisfying theme for WIll and Elizabeth's story arc....Which really speaks volumes to that score, apart from the rehashed stuff from Pirates 1 and 2.
The Dark Knight Rises gives us a Bane theme, meanwhile rehashing everything under the sun with both Batman begins and Dark Knight...
Youd think Zimmer would have given us a better end theme this time around but no...he gave us a percussion-lite version of A Dark Knight off the Dark Knight Ost.
WTF Zimmer...WTF. You lose your balls or something?

Will it be possible to have the chronological order including the bonus tracks?
Thanks in advance.

Well, following the dramatic progression of the music i think it's better like this (if i suppose tracks mixed together are well placed)
A Storm Is Coming (0:37) On Thin Ice (2:55) Gotham's Reckoning (4:08) Mind If I Cut In? Good order DARTH I hope this is how it plays out in the movie
abrubt editing with no stone unturned is annoying. just as it leads to ra's theme, what I believe is anyway, it cuts to train fight music. IT sounds great, one of the best tracks on this score IMO but please, edit more professionally??

I also like it when the tracks are in individual and not run in together. like on stranger tides, terribly short for score but no crossfades!! like brian tylers work hans you should take a lesson from him ;p
I dunno if Mr Zimmer is reading the comments on this site. But I must say that I (and a whole lot of other people on the net) am happy that a LOT of good music from the film or suites are released. And not remixes, unrelevant tracks or tracks with dialog. This is the way a score should be. Thanks!
Big reprise of the "Train Fight" sequence from Begins mixed, of course, with Bane & Catwoman.
With the so awaited "let's kick the vilain" reprise, used in Begins when Ra's sees the end and when Bat beats the Joker... :D
End of the cue is more cooler, with a very nice new theme finishing it !
Great great stuff all around !

"Imagine the Fire" for example.
Zimmeredge
2012-07-14 17:58:56
really? Imagine the fire or the shadows betray you. Those tracks are very different comparing to scorponok. IMO
I love the music from the film, but I have to say that I miss the emotional touch of James newton Howard. In begins & tdk the emotional element had a strong presence while now I feel it does not.
NOT SAYING ANYTHING BAD ABOUT THE SCORE BUT JUST WHAT I FEEL IS DIFFERENT.
Maybe it will be in the suite/collectors edition cd as hybrid hinted is coming.

totally agree in this. the cues are all well done, but i expexted A LOT more. especially when hans always told us how awesome and eeeeeepic this will going to be and how different etc. but what is exactly different for him? mixing the tunes from the last two movies together? don't know, just not that much new stuff here. i mean, the best parts of the score are elements from batman begins and tdk. batman begins had sooooo many beautiful sad and emotional themes and melodies as also some lovely action tunes. tdk had again some good stuff and remarkable things like "a dark knight" or "like a dog chasing cars" etc...
and what exactly has tdkr? what can i remember from the tracks? not so much, only melodies from the last two movies, and that dissapoints actually. hopefully in the movie there are some more cues to discover and having the touching and depressing feeling like in begins and tdk and discovering some new material there. and hopefully the upcoming "suite"-cd version will give us a better representation of the score.
again, i don't to blame zimmer for this, i don't think it is boring, i'm only dissapointed as I've expected much more after reading his own words and actually after hearing the two last movies.

and it has TOO much of transformers in it. i didn't like first transformers (first score) after hearing some similarities with the begins score, but now hearing in a batman score some stuff from transformers is sad :/

I say nothing else for weeks. But I have no idea. Or does it? My friend "Skorponok" says yes. And most reviewers too ...
Why are some hard to admit it? This music is much worse than its predecessors. This indicated, two tone batman theme, the constant repetition, the bad "Transformers" mixed style something. It lacks a James Newton Howard. Without him, no structure.

Would be new to me... On the last pages I was able to find several of my comments. I'm not a Hans Zimmer "hater", but what he offers his fans for several years is an insult. And I'm not willing to accept this. Here it was attempted to sell inferior merchandise to fans as ne plus ultra. Example? REMIX

Scorponok is in blatant use here...
and believe it or not, so is a tiny bit of score most of you probably missed -
if you were paying attention during Pirates 3 at the final battle when Will's Father Bootstrap wakes up before he attacks Davy (or when Jack talks to his dad about living forever) - you'll catch that little motif reprised during Imagine the Fire and the extra cue Risen From Darkness...
