Thank you for 'Who Are The Roma?' An eloquently posed question that sounds out in the mind a longtime after hearing. I listened too many times to count at work - corresponding sound to image for a slide show. Interpreting nuance, I felt the third movement concerns itself with matter of dignity, and then hope - In the last movement the question Who are the Roma? is once again evoked, quietly, and there it lingers long after the song is over. - - - In second movement, a light touch to the piano summons Zoe Zimmer's Slovakia road trip photos. Looksounds she is asks same question. Piano verifies. I trust I have permission that the music remain on page ( thegypsychronicles.net ) Respect, A.
They should hire Bregovic, he is a master at writing gypsy music.

He is not really a master at writing gipsymusic, but at arranging already existing gipsy music. (He does it very very good). But the sad thing is that instead of recognizing that he's arranging traditional songs, he pretends he wrote them himself. He puts the melodies under his name. So everybody who plays those traditionals today in a live situation with audience is obliged by law to pay Bregovic !!!!!!!!! To me that is criminal.
I looove this music. And not just because it sounds like a jewish music. Romani people and Jews had a same destiny in our country (Slovakia) during war times. Nowadays the situation is not so different :(. Köszönöm Hans :).
@Hybrid Especially when someone is from Eastern Europe, like me. I can tell you hundrerds of stories good, bad either. This is something that is way complicated than 4 minutes.
The narrator of the movie is Czarina Russell, RCP's studio manager...
Tiffany Bordenave, also from RCP, is associate producer...
And if you check the "thanks" section, it's all RCP : Atli Örvarsson, Satnam, Ramin Djawadi, Guillaume Roussel etc...
So it's basically all RCP stuff...
As for the documentary itself, there are two sides of it :
One I like : making people who don't even know what Roma's are... know who they are ! I guess it's mainly for US people...
One I don't like : as a European, French in particular (where the Roma issue is relatively significant (had trouble last year with the government etc...)), I don't feel really comfortable with people from the other side of the Atlantic pointing Europe's behaviour... I mean, it's quite easy to point OTHERS' problems... :)
