Hybrid, in an interview for this film Zimmer calls Rob Marshall a "complete gentleman" who "couldn't have been kinder to the music in the movie". But you make it seem like he had an awful time working with him. So was that just Hans being polite? :P

I really, really think they should just cancel plans for that movie right now. They should have stopped at #3 (some would argue they should have stopped at #1). It was evident with #4 that it was mostly a way to make money (according to Rotten Tomatoes, 33% of critics gave the movie a positive review), and it's even more evident with this one. Now even the main composer of the series has decided to be done with it.
Disney, if you're reading this, please scrap the film. lol.

Yep, Pirates has definitely outstayed its welcome. Although I certainly wouldn't be against a PotC 5 as long as they make it fresh and non-money-grabbing, and they got Geoff Zanelli to write a great score that pays tribute to the Zimmer scores without using them as a crutch too much. :)

What makes you think Hans isn't coming back? I think as long as Jerry Bruckheimer is producing I think he will stay because he wanted hans to do pirates from the beginning and let Alan Silvestri go. Bruckheimer likes his style of music and so we will see. I'm hoping he comes back to do the 5th.

Haha he said he wasn't doing Man of Steel. Look what happened there. I think it's too early to assume he is out even though he told you. A lot of things can happen from now until post production of the new pirates. I think once a director is chosen and what direction the production is going then will we know if he is doing it or if one of his guys are. I hope he changes his mind though. If not I hope he at least helps out with writing some of the music or something with the music if he does not compose.

Now that I've heard more of the full score, I agree (I wrote that when I saw the film once or twice). But there are a FEW noteworthy cues, like when the Spanish arrive at the Fountain of Youth, and the jungle trek.

With Disney owning his own POTC scores, they could do what they want temping the movie like crazy. And they did. And they wanted the team to stick to it, no matter what.

I figure I'll move the discussion of POTC4 over here, rather than filling the Lone Ranger page with it. Anyhow, my question is, wasn't this score played with an actual orchestra? I remember seeing a photo of an orchestra playing the score during the production stages of the film, and if that's the case, could it be argued that the temp tracks aren't temp tracks per se, since they were re-recorded, rather than copied and pasted onto the the scene?

I would assume a re-recorded cue could still be called a temp track...Doesn't temp track simply mean "temporary"? It doesn't necessarily have to be previously recorded. Although it does make its presence far less tacky if it is played/recorded again. It at least shows that an effort was put into it.

I don't believe that Rodrigo y Gabriela wrote a thing for this score. I think Zimmer might have arranged all of it for them, and they just performed it. I have noticed that more than the Angelica theme is in the demos. Fragments of one of their other pieces--I have no idea which one--make brief appearances, though again I don't know in which cues.
btw, how can I get to the page that had the complete score listed? I know the list was taken down, and the comments were wiped, but there was still a blank page with a new list of comments. I came back a few days later and even the blank page was gone--at least that's what I remember.

You should be able to Google it, but for some reason it's not working. For example, if you Google "hans-zimmer.com hannibal expanded" it will pull up the expanded score which you cannot access through the site. But it's weird - when I tried it just now, it pulls up different pages and different comments for this score
Ya I much rather prefer the one from lost scores. Had it since these demos leaked. I check that site everyday for new covers. Soundtrack list covers, too.

It could be that they were afraid of the leaking of the music because we are talking about demos, which can, but do not have to be, recorded in whole or in part. My theory is that they recorded some of the demos, and other tracks Zimmer left to be recorded for future POTC movie and that's why they didn't want demos to be leaked... (i'm just playing sherlock holmes now lol)

What is not accounted for is why there's suddenly been a flare-up of pointless posts. I have the complete score that's being teased below and I must say, I'm not impressed. This soundtrack still feels flat and lifeless. There is almost no emotion with the score, not nearly what was felt in At World's End. If the recording sessions to that gem ever leak, those will be priceless tracks. On Stranger Tides can't even hold a candle to the emotion and passion that was in At World's End. Ah, I long for the day for that score to leak. I'm not giving up hope yet, haha!

This is real? How you figure? A TRACKLIST? You do know theres rips out there - good ones I might add - that have the same tracklists. Has anybody proven it by sampling a track that would otherwise have SFX from a ripped version?
Now all of a sudden there's these demos and complete scores floating around, when there wasn't before. Odd how this is coming right on the heels of this complete score for Pirates 4.Call me cynical but smells like tuna.

Yes, you can very well post samples in YouTube. Just create an account. Your tracks 1, 2, and 11 match my track titles and lengths (nearly) exactly. After posting the score on the Shrine, I realized that the second cue in track 11 should be roughly 13 seconds longer--which yours is not.
If you choose to upload any to YouTube, please upload the above three tracks, as well as tracks 17, 34, and 35.

So far so good. I was given track 3, "The Court of Sao Feng" and there was no SFX, none. The other tracks are being sent this evening and I'll be sure to give the rest of you the details to see if Mr. Jones is boasting another fake/ripped score or if this indeed the real thing. Though I must say, that after listening to the track I was given, if it is a DVD-rip, it's the best I've ever heard. More details to come. By the way, thank you Mr. Jones for being so cordial. I thought I'd publicly say that you've been kind throughout the process so far. Looking forward to the rest of the soundtrack.

If you say this isn't yours that'll get me even more excited for the score to come today. It is very much one of the best cues of all time. In my opinion it's way up there with the climax of Return of the King.
As I said, a few of these tracks appear to be from my rip, and Mr. Jones either needs to upload the ones I asked him to, or we can wait for your conclusions, Jimmer. So you have my score from the Shrine? Well, whether you do or not, if any tracks you receive have SFX in them, they most likely came from my edit...and then the search will continue for a true complete score. But I am jumping ahead of myself. For now, we will wait.

Nice find! But I have to point out: while this features alternate orchestrations and several bits of unreleased music, it is far from being complete (which I know you didn't say it was in the first place). Music is clipped out in at least four spots, but it's still a nice bit of music.
"On Stranger Tides" from On Stranger Tides is unfortunately just the OST version of the track as well as Palm Tree Escape. "British Attack" is unreleased in addition to "Jack's Escape", "The Water Drop" and--hell!--"The Fountain of Youth" wasn't even that behemoth set of demos that leaked last summer!!! I guess what "He's A Pirate" is.
There is quite a wide variety of other good treats that Zanelli has so kindly presented us with!

Oh but you can! You could either sort through a maze of temp folders in your internet browser's storage to find the mp3s or you could download and install the DownloadHelper add-on for Firefox and simply rip the tracks. That way you aren't giving yourself a false sense of quality by ripping the music in saving it in WAV format.

It's played as in they ripped it straight from the score and planted it in Pirates, or it's played as in the theme appears to have been borrowed from "The Shining"? I'm listening to what I think is the opening theme for "The Shining" and I'm not hearing anything that sounds like something Hans Zimmer would have copied and placed in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

I think you're talking about the Dies Irae, which is a traditional catholic song. You can hear it in a lot of movies, especially when they are religion-related.

They will leak online sometime and the non-believers will kick yourselves for dismissing their existence. I bet no one believed the Predators 2CD demos score was leaked when it was first mentioned; now its everywhere as proof. These things just take time, people, that's all. Theres at least three versions of these demos doing the rounds amongst high-ranking collectors.
Check that seller's feedback in a week or two and I bet they have positive feedback confirming they are genuine.

Not really. Especially not when said score is so out of reach it becomes more fable and less reality. I KNOW a demo score exists. I know because Hans Zimmer and CO. Recorded it. Someone saying they have it and not backing it up with better proof like samples says nothing to me. Anyone can forge a tracklist. Hell - anyone can forge sound samples!
Besides, Im not too concerned with this score - most of it is rehashed work, we already got some good extras from Brand X, and the rest of the music can literally be ripped from the dvd when it comes out with little to no effort, seeing as most of the best pieces arent marred with Heavy SFX or talking.
OH yes, that there demo cd is a bunch of twaddle alright.

you know whuts funny? I can make a suite out of the Youtube link provided of UNRELEASED music and take off about 90% of the voices....if this is what the guy's peddling then do yourself a favor, guys...DONT BOTHER. Wait for DVD and do it yourselves. Itll be in better quality at the VERY least.
