I love revisiting this score. It's just so much fun, and I love hearing this side of Steve's music. I remember watching interviews where he'd talk about programming John Williams' string patterns into midi instruments, and his love for Williams' work overall. This side of him is rarely shown in his projects. <br><br>But then you have scores like this that show off how much of a wizard he can be with music. Melodic action music, fun and creative use of synth, classic Jablonsky choir chants, and beautiful use of the orchestra. Perfect for a fantasy comedy with a modern twist. <br><br>I cannot stress enough how much I love tracks like "Isabel the Strong", "Labyrinths And Humps", and "Mean Knights and Horsies O' My!". "Playful Secrets" in particular shows just how much of an expert Steve is with an orchestra. It sounds straight out of a John Williams score like Harry Potter or Indiana Jones with a fun Danny Elfman choir on top. Not to mention the beautifully performed bassoon and French Horn combo at 0:39 and 0:44! <br><br>These are the kinds of projects I like to see from Jablonsky. Films and games that allow him to show off his skills and test his abilities to the point where he creates complex, unique, varied, thematically rich, and truly poignant music. <br><br>This is something that I can point to and say "that's 100% a Steve Jablonsky score". It has some influence from Zimmer, but is not copying him by any means. Maybe with the slight exception of "Thadeous".Can't really agree that much with Bloodshot. The reason I was able to be engaged in Jablonsky's past scores similar to this (e.g. TF5, TMNT 2) was his strong melodic voice. Even in the more sound design parts of those scores there was at least several themes that I enjoyed, easily identified, and analyzed some lovely development for them. <br><br>Bloodshot doesn't really have that, it's got themes so minimal (except for KT which I can't really enjoy because the melody sounds identical to "Optimus"), that whatever development is there, I feel nothing toward because it's easy and boring to develop a theme that's basically just a series of chords. <br><br>Keanu I can't entirely judge Jablonsky for as it was also Nathan Whitehead's score, but it just sounds like Bloodshot 0.5 to me. Guitar chords, sound design, string ostinatos, wandering piano theme, been there done that. <br><br>Good lord, do I hope Steve works on Orbital Era though. It would be so refreshing to hear a full-on orchestral Jablonsky score again. Not only better than Spenser, it's better than Skyscraper.<br><br>Ok, Bloodshot maybe isn't one of the best works by Jablonsky, but after such disappointing with Skyscraper, see Jab in a work with choir, guitars, cool themes (if don't catch the similarities between KT's theme with the Autobots theme ;D) and good action writing (hang in there, i'm not going say is something good as Steamboy or Your Highness, even some of the Transformers/The Island stuff), as for the sound design, i prefer people like Jab, Zimmer or Holkenborg MORE than something dreadful as Reznor/RossJust listen Bloodshot OST again and I like it better than for the first time. Yes there is a lot of sounddesign elements, but quiet and melodic moments are good at some parts. My favorite track is "Bloodshot". For me this work, despite all the problems, is far better than Spencer Confidential.<br><br>There is extremely need of new Sci-Fi (not like Bloodshot, lol) or Fantasy project for Steve to work on. I'm fairly certain that he could provide amazing music for this genres, but for some reason.<br>Also, I've listened a few tracks from his "Keanu" score (posted on his new website) and it's wonderful, hope there will be a full release sometime. This one reminds me of another genre where Steve is good - comedy and parody movies - "Your Highness", "Pain and Gain", "Sims 3" (yes, it's a game score but it has that comedy atmosphere I'm talking about) all are really great scores for its genre.<br><br>For me "Eternals" from Marvel could be a good movie for Steve to work. And honestly, I would like to see what he could brings to "Godzilla vs Kong" crossover more than Junkie XL.<br><br>At least I hope that Katsuhiro Otomo would like to work with Steve again on his new anime project "Orbital Era", truly a dream-project.Yes, the sound mixing in the movie is bad, you can't listen the music properly, is buried under a lot of sound effects.<br><br>It was one of those situations where 'the music is trying to overlook the thunderous sound effects',
I do kinda prefer the 2014 score over the KOTM score, but McCreary's work does deserve more love than just being called a 'retreat of the original theme'.<br>It also deserved to be heard more, but the movie's sound mixing was terrible.Wasn't expecting to see someone else here for the same reason. Really hoping those two soundtracks return, they're great for studying music. Are Steve Jablonsky and Rupert Greyson-Williams still apart of RCP or they went solo too?I wouldn't disagree that Godzilla KOTM is a good score since it works very well for the movie and by itself. I'm just saying that Junkie XL can bring something new and interesting to the franchise which hasn't been done before. Before someone jump, i will said in this kind of movies, change a composer is very common, don't say i don't want McCreary will be back, only i prefer other people try other things.<br><br>Like i said, i listen very OFTEN the three scores in this movies, and i love each style (as for the movies... well, prefer G14 and KSI over KOTM)
@Moggyman<br><br>If you think that all McCreary did was modernize the Godzilla theme, you clearly haven't listend to the score.<br>He indeed used and modernized the themes for Godzilla & Mothra.<br>Besides that he wrote new themes for Rodan, Ghidorah, Monarch, The Russel Family and a theme he called the Ancient theme.<br><br>Besides this, he used the orchestra, choir, soloist and specialty instruments in the best way they can be used.<br><br>His score was one of the best blockbuster and orchestral scores of the last couple of years, in my opinion.<br><br>Until I hear Holkenborg's score I can't really comment on if it will be good. But at the moment I am sad McCreary isn't coming back. But I am very curious what Holkenborg will doI disagree, the McCreary's score in that movie is really, really good... but I put this, as myself i listen very often the other two: G14 and Skull Island, also really, really good, can't put a score over another because one composer uses a theme (a very mytical one, if you are a movie monster fan), specially in that franchise.<br><br>Yes, Ifukube create a wonderful theme (and the original movie have a really tough score to listen isolated of the movie), but other composer make a wonderful themes (and polaraising), like Otani (which his score for GMK is FULL electronic, but really good) or Oshima (great theme, maybe the inspiration for Desplat's theme), even the most forgotten Reijiro Koroku create a terrific theme for the character in 1984Bear McCreary is a good composer but all he did for Godzilla KOTM was modernize the original Godzilla theme, which isnt super creative. Junkie, on the other hand, may give us a really creative score based on his eagerness to do the project.Yeah besides the massive disappointment that is the movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the even bigger disappointment is that Bear McCreary won't be back for more.you fool.... its impossible ! everybody knows that there is only one batman theme.... (joke)
In a recent interview, Junkie mentioned that he's bringing back themes for Superman and Wonder Woman, while everything else is new. I wonder if he's gonna make a new Batman theme. It's true, there is completely different team from composer to director in crossover :)But the film was particularly bad...<br><br>So I rather have a whole other team do something ELSE lol...Yeah... McCreary's score is one of the best from last year so I'd rather have him again.I open to ANY composer in this movies.<br><br>To answer the question, YES, i'm ready<br><br>Specially to a guy, who loves G14, KSi and KOTM

Dear Mr. Zimmer,

Yesterday night in Paris I sat awestruck witnessing what may be the best concert I ever attended. Several masterpieces like the Interstellar suite, Knights of the Sang Real and Gladiator already made it a magical 2 hours, but what always gets me is your amazing work for Lion King.

You and Lebo M made shed some tears performing Lea Halalela, straight from the underated album Rythm of the Pride Lands you seem to have composed together before Disney adulterated it. Since I am 9 years old, Busa/Kube/It's time/Noyana have made my heart fill with emotions every time. I am a huge fan of Lebo M and would have loved to find more of his music here in Europe. Perhaps you can help me with this. It was great to see how complicit you two have grown over these 20 years.

I also find your work with the pipe organ for Interstellar absolutely groundbreaking and awesome. I hope you get to compose more pieces with this kind of atmosphere in the future; you have found a way to transcribe just how small humans are before the immensity of space, but how thrilling and emotional exploration can be. No one has done this before you.

And these are but a few of the feats you demonstrated before us last night. My most sincere thanks and congratulations to you and your fantastic orchestra. I wish you a great tour, but I am sure you will be overwhelmed with the positive reception.

My best regards,
Julien

Hello Mr. Zimmer,

i saw your great concert in Oberhausen. But we had bad places at the side of the stage and we have not seen very much of the light show and many musicians.

So there will be a Live DVD of one concert? PLEASE. This would be so amazing.

Greetings from Frankfurt

vielen Danke für dieses wunderschöne Konzert in Berlin. Ich bin so begeistert, ich kann es nicht so richtig in Worte fassen. Danke und hoffentlich auf ein Wiedersehen

I read what you recently had to say about how difficult it was to do the music for "Batman vs. Superman", and how you won't do any more 'superhero' scores.

While I haven't the vaguest conception of how difficult it must be to compose new music, I wanted to say that I was very impressed with your new theme for Wonder Woman, and if you were to do a full score based on that theme alone, I would gladly pay $20 for it.

Regardless, I have been a huge fan for years and will continue to look forward to anything new that you do.

Dear Mr. Zimmer,

I was in Hamburg yesterday to attend your concert.
I've been hoping this was going to get great, but I did not expect THAT!!
It just blew me away.
From the first second to the last note: Fantastic, mindblowing, magic - just perfect!
Also your words about Heath Leadger and Aurora - GREATNESS!
A huge Thank You to You and all the musicians for this unforgettable night
YOU HAVE TO RECORD A LIVE DVD... I promise I'd buy at least 10. One for me and 9 for the coming birthdays of friends...

Thank you and again thank you,
Matthias

Dear Mister Zimmer,

Last Thursday, I was at Palais 12 in Brussels for your Live Tour and I wanted to thank you and your team for this incredible, unforgettable performance. I have memories forever !

but beyond that, I would like to thank you so much for your heart-warming words on "Aurora" theme.

You showed that you are not only an wonderful music genius, but also a very, very beautiful human being and it makes me admire you even more for that.

Thank you for this heart-warming moment of grace,

Solene

Mr. Zimmer I'm really impressed by your musical compositions. Hopefully someday could compose a melody for the story of my book "El Precio de la Suerte" (The Price of Luck). Just my dream : )

Guess what, Hans...

I'm going to remake my song to suit... Gladiator!

The public will be the judge!

You know what is all about, huh? ;-)

Hello Hans,

Pretty sure you won't really read this because you get so many messages, but I'll give it a try anyway! I'll be coming to your concert on the 24th of May in Rotterdam (in the Netherlands, my home country). And it would just mean the world to me if you'd perform ''Now We Are Free'' from Gladiator that night, because it's kind of my life's anthem, haha. I know you probably have a strict regime and order of songs you use in your concerts (and maybe this song is already in it), but I just wanted to give this a shot because it's the most beautiful song ever and I'd love to hear it live.

Thanks!

Hi Maia,

I went to his concert in Brussels yesterday, and you won't be dissapointed ;-)

Hans Zimmer,

YOU HAVE TO READ THIS. First of all your music and soundtracks for the large amounts of movies you cooperated with are masterpieces, especially in Batman V Superman. But this is a suggestion. AS AN HOMAGE TO THE DCAU, JUSTICE LEAGUE , JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED, CAN YOU PLEASE REMAKE VERSIONS OF THE THEME SONGS OF THE TWO SHOWS AND USE THE THE FIRST THEME FOR PART 1 AND USE THE UNLIMITED THEME FOR PART 2. This will bring out the glory of this legendary group of superheroes and the tv show which once was home to them. Seriously, please do this.

Reply or not, please do consider this!
Thanks!

Mr. Zimmer,
greetings from Portugal.

First of all and as you may imagine already, I am a huge fan.

I have a question which I think all of your fans that never have seen a live concert yours already made, but I would like to ask you, when / if there is some thought to come to my country or Spain in a short time.

For sure there are many fans as me asking the same all around our country.

Will apreciate your answer.
Thanks

Dear Zimmer,
First of all, I am an ordinary person. I've interested theater but not professinal. I love your music. If you can allow, I would like to use "Drink up me hearties" and "Mombasa" and "Good Authority" music for the street theater play. It's including genres satire and dramatic. It is free. Open for everyone
I wait your answer.
Sincerely

Mr.Zimmer, I love your music. Particularly the themes of Pirates of the Caribbean. My favorites are Blackbeard's theme and Jack Sparrow's theme. They give me goose bumps every time I hear them, and believe me... I don't easily get goose bumps. I tip my hat to you! You are a musical genius!
Greetings from Belgium!

Edmund Meinerts2016-02-02 22:59:04
Blackbeard's theme over Davy Jones or the love theme from At World's End?

Didier2016-03-22 16:06:45
@Edmund: Blackbeard's sounds more epic. Though Davy Jones' theme is wonderful as well.

Edmund Meinerts2016-03-22 22:22:32
No way! Blackbeard's theme is...okay, I guess, but it's just a typical descending POTC-ish motif. Davy Jones' theme is SO MUCH more versatile and three-dimensional as a villain idea - it can be tragic, angry, brooding and, yes, epic.

Byron Sleugh2016-04-10 04:42:25
I love Davy Jones' theme. I did an arrangement of it for trombone choir because I thought it was pretty awesome.

Their war here-
Thank you hans zimmer and junkie xl (Tom) for creating another incredible soundtrack.
The only thing missing is that the soundtrack version of
their war here is different to the move version, and doesn't have the man of steel elements with that dang dang daga da daga science fiction sound when the world machine is destroying metropolis and batman comes to the rescue.
That was my favorite part of the Man of steel soundtrack and its such a same it's included in the opening of the film, but that a different version is on the soundtrack.
But otherwise an amazing epic soundtrack.

Dear Mr. Zimmer,
as an ambitious amateur composer from Germany and real fan of your soundtracks I'm looking forward to your concert in Munich at April the 26th.
I just composed a short orchestral version from "Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing On Rainbows" and I wish I had an orchestra like yours. But for me a midi orchestration must be enough. Here my work:
