LOL. I guess this "Balfe" guy is one of those trolls from Stop RCP group. Many benevolent saviours explaining the error of our music tastes have surfaced recently, haven't they?Eh, Mr. Ellipsis, I have to take issue with your appeal to popularity. Justin Bieber sells millions of records. That doesn't make his music good. Last year's piece of crap pointless Beauty and the Beast remake made a frankly terrifying amount of money at the box office. Doesn't stop it being a piece of crap.Guys, I know a lot of you probably think I'm an overly critical snob, but next time you do, just remember this guy and realize how much worse I could be. :pBalfe is not a composer, but still he gets to compose dozens of films and shows every single year, wow. It is rather sad to see a fine composer like Benjamin Wallfisch deal with this nationalistic nonsense. It would be very interesting to get a better sense of what exactly Zanelli's role in the franchise is. He is a very capable composer but his work on 5 was utter scheisse. But that may just be what the franchise calls for. How does the supposedly precarious Hans put his name on all this shit.I would not be surprised if this was done by Balfe finally trying out his real compositional skills outside of him just acting as Hans' copy assistant. Everything that Balfe has done on his own to date is abysmal (okay The Lego Batman movie had some flair but that was probably done by the next generation of assistants).

Please go back to Ironclad and listen to Balfe before he was HBalfe, to hear his skills. Not very good, right? The man is an arranger not a composer.

This score will be utterly crap or it will sound like Tron and Transformers.

Shame as Del Toro and Steven Knight work with real composers like Max Richter who would have excelled here.Instead of concerning ourselves with Sia, we have to be worried about Djawadi. The man has a knick for a simple tv tune. But anything outside of that sounds like a youtube fanvideo. The incidental score for Game of Thrones, especially the wall scenes, is terrible and amateurish.

All I can think is that the producers must have been pressed with time and had to go with the casio synth nonsense Djawadi presented them with. It is the worst example of scoring for a major franchise.

Again, Dwajadi does well with his choral bits but he is not a composer, more a theme tune man. Who Wants to be a Millionare would serve him better than a complex franchise.

Simultaneously, the Paint it Black material from Westworld is outstanding. But was this done by Djawadi or a much more talented orchestrator - can we look into this as it sounds nothing like his work

Hello sir. I'm orchestral uplifting trance composer and producer. Your every track gives me so inspiration, aspecially Dark Knight Triology OSTs. I wish that i would be your student and learn so much stuffs from you, whatever it is just dream :( .How can i send my tracks and productions to you ?

mittens2012-09-04 16:28:41
hello, I am not Hans Zimmer, but I think know the answer to your question: unfortunately people at RCP have the policy not to open music cds that they get from random people because of a fear of copyright issues. Even if you send them your cd they will have to return it to you unopened. And all that because a long time ago some amateur composer sent his work to some movie composer and the movie composer used his music as his own and later got sued for it by that amateur composer who proved that he stole his music. And because of that they have to return cds unopened.

Does anybody know anything about the scoring / soundtrack from the science documentary series called Through the Wormhole - the credits state Zimmer, Shea and Kofsky to be involved with the music. I'm desperatly looking for some of the music from the series - they remind me alot of Chevalier De Sangreal. They are used in season 2, episode 1 at 40:00 and season 3, episode 4 at 34:50(you can youtube them)

Thx in advance for any answer :)

Does anyone know if Zimmer will be scoring next summer's "The Lone Ranger". Gore Verbinski is directing it, who used Zimmer for all 3 Pirates and Rango. Seems like he would fit the role

Pawel Stroinski2012-08-10 02:10:26
No, the score is written by Jack White (of the White Stripes)

Mr. Charles2012-08-10 03:16:21
Whaaaat?!?!?!

Bummer. But I cannot judge. I know who The White Stripes are. They're ok. Hopefully the score will be good

Does your studio offer internships or need composer's assistants? Recend composition/music tech grad looking for an opportunity.

As someone who is not quite sure about the legalities of this particular situation, I understand that this might be a stupid question.
Anyway, I would like to use part of the soundtrack to Inception in a YouTube video, but I understand I need some sort of permission. Is it enough to credit Hans Zimmer as the creator of the song and provide an Itunes link, or will I need to do something a little more formal?
My name is in my YouTube account, should you need to message me and the video in question has not been made yet.

Muldfeld reply Replies: 0 || 2012-07-26 10:00:39
I purchased your "The Dark Knight Rises" score a day ago and was very angry to find out that there are all kinds of online exclusives. My CD was made in Canada and contains no download code or anything of the sort and is only 51 minutes. I understand your wanting to experiment with apps and stuff (I don't own a cell phone), but the fact that you were able to have other tracks that could easily and should easily have fit onto the CD, as they do on itunes and other sites, signals that you are exploiting your fans.

I always pay artists for their work; I buy DVDs and I buy the great music of Mark Snow and Bear McCreary. This was the first CD of yours I bought and it may be the last. I feel betrayed as a customer who never wanted to steal from an artist I respected, but you tempt me with these devious tactics.

In late 1980's I was in a choir that performed an oratorio I think was by Mr Zimmer. It was a world premier and under the direction of Dr. Robert Berglund at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, MN. Do you know what the name of the oratorio?
Thanks

I have read that Mr. Zimmer began to develop his craft through a mentoring relationship and that he believes in apprenticeships. How does a young composer gain his attention?

Hi there,

what exactly is an "almost official site"?

Antas, Webmaster2012-06-19 15:36:51
Well, let's say it's an official site of Hans Zimmer but an unofficial site of RCProd. So "almost official" for both... ;)

Nicolas, Webmaster2012-07-18 15:02:57
The exact answer is that Hans knows us, appreciate our work and don't search to make a really good official website because he's fine with this situation.(he told us exactly that way)So, we're not official, but Mr Zimmer keeps an eye on our work ;)

Cade reply Replies: 2 || 2012-07-17 21:08:08
Are there any plans to offer digital (lossless) download as a purchase option for TDKR or other works? A lot of artists are offering 96/24 FLAC or Apple Lossless options, which would be great for this type of music. I know that a lot of HZ fans would prefer this format to CD or iTunes, as compressed versions don't do these compositions justice.

I'm 45 years old and thought the emergence of video would change music forever, as it did for me in the 1980's. That was until I went to see the Dark Night in theaters. The sound track absolutely messed me up. It was the first time I ever heard of Hans Zimmer (How immature I was. Then I went to see INCEPTION and was shook to my core during the music when Leo walks through the airport at the end, I'said that can't be the same guy, WRONG. It was. Please let Mr. Zimmer know how much I appreciate what he does and how it's changed the movie industry.

Hello everyone

Back in August while searching for news on Lorne Balfe score for Assassin's Creed Revelations I came across a Swedish video game site that had received a press release from Ubisoft about teaming up with the Malmo Symphony Orchestra to record music for some of there upcoming games (Including Assassin's Creed Revelations)

Here is the press release translated from Swedish (Translated with Bing)

"Ubisoft and Malmö Symphony Orchestra is initiating cooperation on recordings of original music for the upcoming games. First out is Assassin's Creed Revelations, the fourth sequel in the series of bestselling and critically acclaimed game Assassin's Creed. Data game was launched in 2007 and has sold nearly 30 million copies and is developed by Ubisoft Montreal with support and expertise from the Malmö-based game Studio Massive Entertainment. "

"Malmö Symphony Orchestra already has long experience of that record and make video game music. The Orchestra has since 2006 world record in game music audience at an outdoor concert. Music for Assassin's Creed Revelations recorded in Malmö Concert Hall 24-26 August. A group of hot Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer's leadership are working with music for the games, in this case, it is the Scot Lorne Balfe, who is the author. Mr Balfe has among other things been involved in music for Guy Ritchies film version of Sherlock Holmes who won an Academy Award for best original music, for Frost/Nixon and Pirates of the Caribbean. "

Source: h t t p ://www.discshop.se/spelguiden/blogg/svensk_valljud_i_kommand e_spel/B501

Now whats interesting about the press release is the following

'' A group of hot Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer's leadership are working with music for the games, in this case, it is the Scot Lorne Balfe, who is the author ''

Now maybe it's a poor translation but to me that sounds like Remote Control composer's will be doing the scores for these games.

Now seeing that this site is the ''Almost Official '' site
of Remote Control Productions I was wondering if anybody here knows anything about this?, Or could someone who knows Swedish clear this up, Is it a bad translation or am I reading it right?

Thank you

Sehr geehrter Herr Zimmer
