@Hybrid, can you confirm Lorne is scoring MI6?I feel like the only way I could be excited about this would be if they adopted the sound of M:I-2, which I find very unlikely. Primarily because the sound is very dated, but also because Fallout is likely to be a more serious movie than II ever will be. Still, I'm cautiously optimistic, especially if it was true that he did the trailer music.<br><br>And it was Rogue Nation that Kraemer worked on, not Ghost Protocol. It's sort of been implied here before that Lorne Balfe worked on the "Bumblebee" suite... Is that correct (as far as anybody knows, at least)? Both scores are absolutely masterpieces, personally I prefer the second one. Outstanding. <br>This story deserves a perfect close also musically.I think we may be surprised with this one, guys. Tom Cruise and JJ Abrams both are into melodic sounding scores, amd when Lorne is allowed to go all out melodic on us he creates perfection (ie: LEGO Batman, Home, parts of Geostorm, his contributions to kung fu panda and Sherlock)... I do hope he has somewhat of a throwback sound from it, but I also want that signature RCP sound too! Not gonna lie this is good news for me.
I'm sure the Balfe brigade will still find some way to tar and feather me for this, but I think he could do a decent job here. After all, you can't just write a generic action score for Mission Impossible. It has to have that throwback espionage feel, the suaveness, the sense of cool, and I think Balfe will do okay with that - look at Penguins of Madagascar. I just hope he gets to use a real orchestra for once (no excuse not to on a film of this type and size), and that he doesn't ignore Lalo Schifrin's theme.<br><br>I'd still rather have had Kraemer back considering the excellent job he did on Ghost Protocol (and the fact he never gets any assignments otherwise) but Balfe could do well here.Damn I was hoping Zimmer, Giacchino or Kraemer would do this.Ha ha! Yes again and again ! This is excellent newsNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not Balfe again and again and again :(Hey, everybody!<br>Did you hear the news?<br>Check this out:<br>https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=962210980613161& id=138474459653488
Yes and no.<br><br>If we take into account that King Arthur is reminiscent of Crimson Tide, The Rock, The Peacemaker and Backdraft his contributions also pale because it is fair to say that King Arthur were based with the music of these films. There's a video on YouTube. The video shows Howard Shore writing and conducting the music for the orchestra. The video also shows Howard Shore and Peter Jackson talking about the score. After that, Peter Jackson rejected the score writing one statement about that saying Howard and he discuss about the music many times, Howard recorded many cues but in the process Peter he wasn´t satisfied about the music. That thing created many discussions, they could not agree in terms of music so Peter fired Howard after that saying he prefered keep Howard as a friend. And then the hobbit came and the rest, well, the relation was not the same. <br><br>So there's like 50 to 70% percent of the music recorded by Howard Shore. He didn't finish the recordings, so, yes, there's a rejected score recorded. And then, James came aboard.Of course he's involved !Finally some news about this movie! I really hope Powell is involved because his scores for the first two moves are fantastic. I love them so much.Well "Prime" for TF2 is part of the main theme "Knights March" from King Arthur which Jablonsky co-composed so I really don't have a problem with a lot of the temps from King Arthur in Transformers. Specifically because Jablonsky did a lot of the main tracks for that score.
Yeah, specially the "Prime" track from Transformers 2Some of Transformers was temped from King Arthur.Thank you :D<br>indeed, Bumblebee has the same vibe with the orchestral and guitar sound, and I guess GoT was temp tooI was at a test screening for RUSH (sitting directly behind Ron Howard and Hans himself!) - and the entire film was heavily temped with Transformers. Specifically "Bumblebee", which opened and closed the film in a very powerful way. There was a lot more transformers throughout. <br><br>Powell's not mentioned in that article at all...but I think we can assume he will indeed be back.

Hello,
I am a composer myself. And I was just wondering how long it took to compose "Harvey Two-Faced.
From the first note to the point just before the recording.

Cheers!

Hallo Herr Zimmer,

hello, I am not Hans Zimmer, but I think know the answer to your question: unfortunately people at RCP have the policy not to open music cds that they get from random people because of a fear of copyright issues. Even if you send them your cd they will have to return it to you unopened. And all that because a long time ago some amateur composer sent his work to some movie composer and the movie composer used his music as his own and later got sued for it by that amateur composer who proved that he stole his music. And because of that they have to return cds unopened.

Does anybody know anything about the scoring / soundtrack from the science documentary series called Through the Wormhole - the credits state Zimmer, Shea and Kofsky to be involved with the music. I'm desperatly looking for some of the music from the series - they remind me alot of Chevalier De Sangreal. They are used in season 2, episode 1 at 40:00 and season 3, episode 4 at 34:50(you can youtube them)

Thx in advance for any answer :)

Does anyone know if Zimmer will be scoring next summer's "The Lone Ranger". Gore Verbinski is directing it, who used Zimmer for all 3 Pirates and Rango. Seems like he would fit the role

Pawel Stroinski2012-08-10 02:10:26
No, the score is written by Jack White (of the White Stripes)

Mr. Charles2012-08-10 03:16:21
Whaaaat?!?!?!

Bummer. But I cannot judge. I know who The White Stripes are. They're ok. Hopefully the score will be good

Does your studio offer internships or need composer's assistants? Recend composition/music tech grad looking for an opportunity.

As someone who is not quite sure about the legalities of this particular situation, I understand that this might be a stupid question.
Anyway, I would like to use part of the soundtrack to Inception in a YouTube video, but I understand I need some sort of permission. Is it enough to credit Hans Zimmer as the creator of the song and provide an Itunes link, or will I need to do something a little more formal?
My name is in my YouTube account, should you need to message me and the video in question has not been made yet.

Muldfeld reply Replies: 0 || 2012-07-26 10:00:39
I purchased your "The Dark Knight Rises" score a day ago and was very angry to find out that there are all kinds of online exclusives. My CD was made in Canada and contains no download code or anything of the sort and is only 51 minutes. I understand your wanting to experiment with apps and stuff (I don't own a cell phone), but the fact that you were able to have other tracks that could easily and should easily have fit onto the CD, as they do on itunes and other sites, signals that you are exploiting your fans.

I always pay artists for their work; I buy DVDs and I buy the great music of Mark Snow and Bear McCreary. This was the first CD of yours I bought and it may be the last. I feel betrayed as a customer who never wanted to steal from an artist I respected, but you tempt me with these devious tactics.

In late 1980's I was in a choir that performed an oratorio I think was by Mr Zimmer. It was a world premier and under the direction of Dr. Robert Berglund at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, MN. Do you know what the name of the oratorio?
Thanks

Hi there,

what exactly is an "almost official site"?

Antas, Webmaster2012-06-19 15:36:51
Well, let's say it's an official site of Hans Zimmer but an unofficial site of RCProd. So "almost official" for both... ;)

Nicolas, Webmaster2012-07-18 15:02:57
The exact answer is that Hans knows us, appreciate our work and don't search to make a really good official website because he's fine with this situation.(he told us exactly that way)So, we're not official, but Mr Zimmer keeps an eye on our work ;)

Cade reply Replies: 2 || 2012-07-17 21:08:08
Are there any plans to offer digital (lossless) download as a purchase option for TDKR or other works? A lot of artists are offering 96/24 FLAC or Apple Lossless options, which would be great for this type of music. I know that a lot of HZ fans would prefer this format to CD or iTunes, as compressed versions don't do these compositions justice.

I'm 45 years old and thought the emergence of video would change music forever, as it did for me in the 1980's. That was until I went to see the Dark Night in theaters. The sound track absolutely messed me up. It was the first time I ever heard of Hans Zimmer (How immature I was. Then I went to see INCEPTION and was shook to my core during the music when Leo walks through the airport at the end, I'said that can't be the same guy, WRONG. It was. Please let Mr. Zimmer know how much I appreciate what he does and how it's changed the movie industry.

Hello everyone

Back in August while searching for news on Lorne Balfe score for Assassin's Creed Revelations I came across a Swedish video game site that had received a press release from Ubisoft about teaming up with the Malmo Symphony Orchestra to record music for some of there upcoming games (Including Assassin's Creed Revelations)

Here is the press release translated from Swedish (Translated with Bing)

"Ubisoft and Malmö Symphony Orchestra is initiating cooperation on recordings of original music for the upcoming games. First out is Assassin's Creed Revelations, the fourth sequel in the series of bestselling and critically acclaimed game Assassin's Creed. Data game was launched in 2007 and has sold nearly 30 million copies and is developed by Ubisoft Montreal with support and expertise from the Malmö-based game Studio Massive Entertainment. "

"Malmö Symphony Orchestra already has long experience of that record and make video game music. The Orchestra has since 2006 world record in game music audience at an outdoor concert. Music for Assassin's Creed Revelations recorded in Malmö Concert Hall 24-26 August. A group of hot Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer's leadership are working with music for the games, in this case, it is the Scot Lorne Balfe, who is the author. Mr Balfe has among other things been involved in music for Guy Ritchies film version of Sherlock Holmes who won an Academy Award for best original music, for Frost/Nixon and Pirates of the Caribbean. "

Source: h t t p ://www.discshop.se/spelguiden/blogg/svensk_valljud_i_kommand e_spel/B501

Now whats interesting about the press release is the following

'' A group of hot Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer's leadership are working with music for the games, in this case, it is the Scot Lorne Balfe, who is the author ''

Now maybe it's a poor translation but to me that sounds like Remote Control composer's will be doing the scores for these games.

Now seeing that this site is the ''Almost Official '' site
of Remote Control Productions I was wondering if anybody here knows anything about this?, Or could someone who knows Swedish clear this up, Is it a bad translation or am I reading it right?

Thank you
