I agree completely.

The movie was awesome, the score works perfectly, and the only thing I didn't like was the use of songs. Too much of them. Songs rarely work during intense action scenes. They distract.

But every time the score started, I liked it. Bay may be known as the big action guy, but when it comes to scoring the more intimate/emotional moments, he and the composer (no matter who he is) always do a good job.Greenaway for President! :))I agree with Knight.

It seems some peeps were expecting power anthems left and right. Yes, this is a big movie, but not a "Transformers-big" movie. I didn't like the use of source music (I hate songs in action movies) but when Balfe's work popped up I noticed it right away.

The more emotional cues were definitely the most memorable. What a fantastic soundtrack.
It’s totally crazy and works brilliantly in the film.
The bit emotional sections are very classic Bay but Balfe’s electronic weirdness is very unique.
It’s nothing like Balfe’s Dark Materials BUT why I’m earth should it be !
10/10Gavin should be listed as conductor
Because Ice Age was composed by David Newman and Collision Course was composed by John DebneyWhen i heard just the sound clips, i thought wtf. Sounds like the worst score, a michael bay movie ever had. Then i listened to the whole album and i have to say, there are some pretty cool tracks. I really like the electronic rhythmic stuff. Welcome to florence is awesome. The emotional moments are nice, but standard balfe stuff. In the movie, the music works really good. I think this music style is the only style, that works in THIS movie. And as hybrid says a mish mash of score and songs. The movie itself is.....strange. but at least the action rocks as hell.If "The Meltdown," "Dawn of The Dinosaurs" and "Continental Drift" are added, then how come "Ice Age" and "Collision Course" aren't?I haven't heard the album yet but there isn't much score in the film. It's like Bad Boys II meets Domino in terms of editing, songs everywhere (19 sourced songs used), short cues... Hell there's even a 13 Hours cue tracked in the film ("Getting Aboard The Plane")."Second time"... lol
Another awsome score by lorne balfe. I really like the film 6 underground directed by michael bay, is very awsome and intense and i begin to hear the score composed by lorne balfe, and its phenomenal and his second time working with michael bay since 13 hours, which i like lorne balfe's score too. Balfe's work is really inspiring in his film score.I don't expect Lorne to make a masterpiece with each movie, but it is true that most of her films are action candies, and I can't understand how she can deliver 6 underground and then make His dark materials. It seems that within Lorne there are a thousand different composers. And I don't know what to expect from Lorne again. Can't help noticing not one, but two Zimmer titles in here.... Tracks 14 and 16. lol. What is most disappointing is that this is a Michael Bay movie with a score being so bad. Historically his movies have fantastic scores by either Hans, Steve Jablonsky, and even Lorne Balfe. But this is hands down the worst Michael Bay score I’ve ever heard.

It’s functional, yes, but nothing compared to 13 Hours, any of the Transformers movies, The Rock, Pearl Harbor, etc. I definitely had high hopes for another good “power anthem” score... and the only cues that are any good are just Time ripoffs.

Highly disappointing.Again, if we have to expect every piece of work of one composer is have to be as good like his others pieces of work, that's pretty underwhelming and impossible.

Yeah, 6 Underground is not a good score by any means (neither Gemini Man, but is far more listenable), but works perfectly in the hiperbolic movie.
I expected a lot from this score, and the truth is that it left me cold. Honestly, I think it is Bay's fault, Balfe has shown that he is capable of doing everything, but here it gives the feeling of being covered. Again, Balfe must focus on fewer projects and the projects he accepts are of quality. There are speculations about the track "Til Death Do Us Part "as being composed by Brandon Campbell. Can anyone confirm whether it was Djawadi or Campbell who composed it?Come to Portugal again.> which ones are listenable
all of the ones I listed are the melodic/orchestral moments in the score not counting Memories and Beautiful Sunday.
Listen to Haunt the Living, Thrones, A Million Battles or One, But Not Done and tell me that the score is a travesty.Knight - okay, let us know which ones of these tracks are even listenable? Hyperbolic nonsense defines this score, but I do not blame Balfe - this would have been what Bay wanted. Such a shame to see his artistic credibility reduced to this after the stellar work on His Dark Materials and acceptable material on Gemini Man,.

Mr. Hans

I'm a Performance major at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and will be working with a lot of composers in the future. For my final Artistry, Creativity, and Inquiry seminar project, I get to present the views and experience of one expert in film scoring, and I'd like that person to be you. Because of your amazing work for film such as The Lion King, and The Dark Night, your creation of a variety, and your unique background which was raised by musician mother, and engineer father, I know my class would be really interested in getting your insights into film scoring. Would it be possible for us to have a brief 10-15 minute discussion about this over the phone or Skype in the next 3 weeks? I know how busy you must be, so if it isn't possible, I completely understand and appreciate your considering it.

Thank you for your time,

Soodeok

To the editors of the sight-

Could you make an option to load the latest releases as a LIST? Right now there is the scrolling bar at the top of the website, which is an improvement from the previous arrow controls. But could you make a "See All" option so that we could view all the latest soundtracks released in a list?

I really appreciate your time. Thank you.

Mr. Zimmer: I have zero talent at anything and can only admire and appreciate from afar, both literally and figuratively, but I have watched Angels and Demons over and again, I am mesmerized by the score. I am an atheist, perhaps my lack of talent makes me so, perhaps religion is also a talent or a gift as Professor Langdon suggests. As such I cannot "feel" what one might feel by making beautiful music and I know I cannot truly appreciate it or the actually hard work and effort that refines the talent. Even as a non-believer, the Vatican has always had a fascination for me and this perfect score deepens my appreciation of the beauty of the art, the antiquity, and the tradition of so many centuries of the Church's dogged perseverance. This music will also persevere. The music rises above the silly fantasy in the film as well as the actual blandness of the church outside it's beautiful and bright trappings. The score is so much more than the film, the value of the film is really the art that it displays with it's admittedly high production values (led by your score), which makes it very watchable. When this film is forgotten, the score will still remain and I hope it one day finds itself in a film that fully matches it. Thank you for this beautiful music, it makes me feel like a better person just by listening to it. Thank you for making life a little better.

Dear all,
I'm seeking publishing rights to "Maestro" composition by Hans Zimmer (there's a synch request for it).
It used to be controlled by Universal Music Publishing in the past. But now the publisher seems to have changed and I cannot find it.
Do you have any idea about it?

Many thanks and regards,

Leonid.

Hello Mr. Zimmer,

I'm a huge admirer of your work and have used some of your orchestration ideas in many of my own compositions! As I'm sitting here listening to some of your tracks, I wonder how you work through your compositional ideas--essentially, how do you take an idea and put it to music?

The reason I ask is because classical composers (Beethoven, for instance) have sketchbooks that we can observe and see their compositional process. But since composers started using technology to write, these "sketches" aren't around. I guess what I'm asking is what would your sketchbook look like?

Thanks!

I am madly in search of the greek sounding theme from the little 1987 thriller "The Wind"/aka "Edge of Terror". Hans Zimmer took part in the credits and I think, he wrote that wonderful piece of music. But can't find it anywhere on CD. Does anyone know something about it or where to get it?

Thanks, Michael

Antas, Webmaster2014-02-09 18:55:17
It has never been released on CD. You should by the DVD and rip the score from it

Bad news, but thanks very much for answering. Now I know, I can stop my searching. The DVD is already mine.

Hallo, Herr Zimmer!

Monika Schmidt reply Replies: 4 || 2013-10-14 18:10:02
Lieber Hans Zimmer,

Dear Mr. Zimmer,
I was just requesting if you could make Washington, one of the songs from 12 years a slave, a 3 minute piece, since it is quite amazing.

Russel2013-12-28 23:04:38
What you could try and do by yourself is maybe make your own extended version, I agree it is very short. It is just a part where Solomon gets out of the Carriage and Arrives at Washington. So, that's why the cue is called "Arrival at Washington". And, I am pretty sure the film version, or the one played within the film is actually shorter than what is on the Original Soundtrack/FYC Score. I have not seen the film though, only have watched that scene, in the Roundtable interview. Which, is actually very interesting to watch. The 40 minute interview flew by! Learned a lot, I think. Hope this helps :)

I don't want to make any money from this and All I need is to make everyone noticed in school. I found your music from 'Dark knight Rise' is quite fitted with my small film. So I wish you to allow me to use several ones. I hope to receive good news. With my respects, MS J.

I was watching a movie 'the burning plain' and i was facionated by one wonderful soundtrack done by you and omar rodriguez ropez, 'are you coming?'. This song is the best soundtrack ever in my life, so i really wanted to download and keep the mp3 file in my music folder and i did it. But the point is, all music files i have searched and downloaded through out the internet were recorded with the movie sound effects such as car door's closing sound and airplane engine sound effect. It bothers me concentrating to the original song it self.( .. would you mind telling me the way how to get an original sound of 'are you coming' ? I will appreciate very much...

I am just a song lover and writing this to you because I just love your music. I am crazy to have all of that. I maintain a list of your works at SoundCloud.com nothing more than that.
I don’t offer to download music freely. I just share the sounds to my SoundClouds’ profile from other public profiles. I can’t afford to buy your soundtracks. I am just writing to you because I want to listen all the work of you and will never share it to someone or upload to the profiles it’s my promise. Can I have all the soundtracks produced by you?
