In Belgium they chose to open this movie against Batman v Superman on March 23rd, it's a good thing we'll get the album 2 months in advance :-pComing soon !Added an extract ! :)Haha, I'm second row, too. :D<br>In Sofia.I will be going to 2 of the shows. Lucked out and got 2nd row for both of them. I'm incredibly excited for them and am confident I will enjoy them immensely :D
When I said concert arrangements and album releases afterwards, I wasn't thinking about The Prague Philharmonic, I thought of Hans' very own concerts in Frankfurt and elsewhere, which had an album release. :)<br>They had Miss Daisy and others included.<br>Still, I'm certain that whatever plays there, I'll be blown away.<br>Glad to hear you share my opinion on The Last Samurai, and if you are visiting his concert again somewhere, I hope you enjoy it, too. :)<br>It isn't your traditional orchestral concert. It is really hard to explain without giving things away but they have gone for a whole experience which is quite removed from what The Praque Philharmonic did. Even though the music is the same it actually comes across in a much different way. It is a much more emotional experience. I don't know if that is because it is actually Hans that is there and in charge. I do agree with what others are saying about The Last Samurai, I think it would work extremely well and I'm dying to hear it live.<br>I really am sure you will thoroughly enjoy yourself.<br>Can I download it?@Memphis<br><br>I understand. As I've said, I have no intentions of degrading them in any way, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the experience immensely, but my thoughts are that some of those pieces were already featured several times in other concert arrangements which had their album release. So, not only did we hear their original soundtrack versions, but we heard what they can be like in concert. And having that in mind, I'm kind of sorry that other great themes and orchestrations won't get their chance. And there are so many others in his opus, like some I've mentioned before. I also don't have any doubts in the power that those tracks I've listed can produce as a part of the whole experience. I'm hoping for a surprise, but if it doesn't happen, I'm sure I'm not going to be disappointed. :)I have the 2-track album version.
This is the version of the score that I have. Can someone help me figure out how this matches to the tracklist on this site? Some of them are obvious, others a little less so ("Long Dies/On the Hunt" is the same as "Doctor at Diner", right?), still others are just confusing. :pWell, i really hope it won't be the exact same show as in London.Thin red line and Da Vinci code and the joker will definitely be played, as they were already played in the London concerts. Injection probably not.Sry 18th of aprilBought myself an early christmas gift. Going 16th of april to Hamburg. 3 hours drive from Denmark.<br><br>I really hope these 2 are in the program:<br>The Thin Red Line (Journey to the Line)<br>The Da Vinci Code (Chevalier de Sangreal)<br>+ the joker<br>MI:2 (Injection)<br><br>Oh boy that would be cool :)<br>

Hi Hans Zimmer,
I am Junaid Khawaja from Pakistan a big fan of your movie, game and theatre soundtracks. I am not a musician, music composer, lyricist, singer or anything else like that. I am just a song lover and writing this to you because I just love your music. I am crazy to have all of that. I maintain a list of your works at nothing more than that.
I don’t offer to download music freely. I just share the sounds to my SoundClouds’ profile from other public profiles. I can’t afford to buy your soundtracks. I am just writing to you because I want to listen all the work of you and will never share it to someone or upload to the profiles it’s my promise. Can I have all the soundtracks produced by you?
Love from Pakistan. I would love to hear from you as soon as possible.
Junaid Khawaja

I just read that a soundtrack for 12 Years A Slave is due out October 15th -- a few places on-line are reporting that? Anyone know anything about this?

Mike2013-09-19 23:37:17
Not sure, but Zimmer posted on Facebook that one website listed the score as one of the reasons to see the film. It'd be kinda mean of him to tease us like that. But then, maybe that's the idea: he wants us to go watch the film, not just go buy an album.

Doug reply Replies: 2 || 2013-09-08 07:23:25
Mr Zimmer, the version of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire instumental you created for Mission Impossible 2, with acoustic guitar and orchestra was fantasic. I wish you would compose a complete song out of this. I think it would be very popular.

One criticism give no credit to Cash or the song in the film credits, while at the same time you've gone after web posters, e.g. youtube, to keep your music from being shared. A bit hipocritical to me. It was only by reading comments under one of these posts that identified the song's origin.

MacArthur2013-09-08 07:30:01
I didn't hear that in the score so i don't know what you are talking about. and also maybe that is not what he was trying to do. like me I compose some stuff or progressions sound so good you just have to use them, and then you listen to a score and then you hear the very same progression and think hey that sounds like mine it might be something where he doesn't even realize that he's doing it. It just sounded good so he went with it.

Doug2013-09-08 09:27:29
MacArthur, it actually plays twice in the movie and is very short the longest piece of it is played at the end of the movie when Ethan meets Nahya in the park. I plays right before the Mission Impossible theme song at the end.

You may be right about Zimmer just composing it without realizing the connection. His version varies enough in tempo and instrumental content that I didn't realize it was the Ring of Fire...I just know it sounded familiar. I think Zimmer could make this short piece into a much longer (e.g. 5 min) full length song without too much trouble. It's a really beautiful song the way he has done it.

Hello. Hans Zimmer created much (but not all) of the music for the 1986 Nicholas Roeg film "Castaway." So I'm wondering if Mr Zimmer composed the beautiful and delicate flute segment that can be heard from 1:24:35 to 1:25:44 during the movie #####

If the answer is yes, what is the name of the song? (And is it available for purchase anywhere?) Many thanks!

Hey there guys, especially team. This will be pretty unusual request, and also a really naive one, I imagine. See, I am working on a lecture for a biggest fantasy-sci-fi-horror-popculture convention in Czech and Slovak republic, called Istrocon. This lecture is about Hans Zimmer and his work.
So, here's the thing: my big dream about ending of this lecture is a video of Hans himself. Not just any video, though. It would be a video, where Hans would say something directly to the visitors of the convention. Something like "Hello visitors of Istrocon, my name is Hans Zimmer and I hope you enjoyed this lecture about my work." That's all.
Now, I understand that this idea is terribly, terribly naive. I understand that Hans is a terribly busy man and he doesn't have time to play around. But something like this would make a killing ending to my lecture.
I know that Hybrid and the other membersof the team probably won't pay much attention to this post, but I simply had to try. If you could by some miracle contact Hans, you would have my eternal gratitude.

Hi... just hoping you can tell Mr. Zimmer that his Hans have the midas touch.... If possible please let me know what you think of these two amateur compositions... they were made using the sounds available in Pro Tools 10.... pretty authentic if you ask me, but definitely not the real thing... If you have a second please criticize... keep in mind I can't read music and have never been trained... Lastly, I know this is a long shot... Does anyone know how to apply to be an apprentice of Zimmer. To be honest I'd be the guy who gets scones and tea, if it meant I could get even the tiniest bit of tutorage... Again, please remind Mr. Zimmer his talent and eagerness to explore the branches of music and sound has definitely caught my attention and changed my compositions for the better! Fingers crossed, Tschüss...

I would appreciate the criticism... if there is some misunderstanding on my end, please help clear it up... not trying to impose.

NM2013-06-17 08:13:46
I'll give an honest critique to a fellow musician. I listened, they're not bad, the second one is kind of nice, the first a bit boring. They sound earnest rather than being the terrible Zimmer clones most people on youtube shit out ("I have some drums and a french horn sample, I'm a composer!")

You mention you can't read music/don't have much musical knowledge and to be honest, it is pretty obvious from the structure of your compositions. I don't see why that should be "born in mind", as though a concession should be granted. You don't necessarily *need* theory, no, but the progressions, orchestration and arrangement are very simple and predictable and it doesn't really feel like the music develops. You have some decent basic ideas in there, but you don't explore them or add any depth to them. Anyone half-decent at writing music could've written both those pieces in about an hour without much effort.

Keep going with it though. Hope that's useful.

David Young2013-06-17 21:22:46
Thank you so much for the well thought out response. I am humbled and agree with you fully. If you have any suggestions on books or other material that I could turn to for referencing, it'd make my summer. I plan on developing this craft as much as possible... thanks again. If there's ever something I can do in return let me know.

Simply because if I only put the dozens of scores simply mixed at RCP, I should add 2000 more composers & pages to the site.

Unlike Tron, the participation of RCP people to Oblivion is very limited, not to say inexisting...

Anthony Gonzalez2013-06-05 17:34:27
Oh ok then, I understand Hybrid Soldier. Thanks for answering. Is it possible to tell which people here worked / were involved? Thanks :)

Jim reply Replies: 17 || 2013-06-04 21:21:06
Have previewed MoS OST and it's garbage. Thanks Hans for screwing it up! Every piece sounds the same as the last, and the same as the last bunch of Zimmer crap scores. Ostinato strings repeated over and over and over and over again, long brass swells with overblown horn parts, pounding and heavily overused percussion - and nothing, and I mean NOTHING, interesting thematically. They really should have got somebody with some musicality like Giacchino to do this one. You, sir, are a hack.

Ds2013-06-04 21:31:07
Clearly you don't like Zimmer's style. Why are you here then?

Jim...again.2013-06-04 21:38:27
...and what the HELL is with the cue "This is Madness"??? Oh, it's madness, alright. The preview is a full minute of the same one-bar snare drum rhythm with a bass drum on the downbeat every second bar. Seriously? This is the kind of crap you come up with? Because if all there is to writing a film cue these days is a one-bar snare drum rhythm, well geez man, where do I sign up? I could pump out a couple hundred cues a day. Y'know, I really used to look forward to new movies as much for the score as the movie itself if not more so in many cases. You have ruined that for me for many recent films. Now I find myself knowing that as soon as I see "Music by Hans Zimmer" there will be nothing to enjoy as far as the score is concerned.

Jim2013-06-04 21:40:27
Where else would I vent my frustration? These comment pages are not solely for the purpose of stroking egos.

Macejko2013-06-04 21:45:33
Go to hell with Giacchino, that man has not composed anything interesting in his life.

Ds2013-06-04 21:50:33
Some people adore Giacchino because he's kind of the reincarnation of John Williams' old fashioned style. But i tend to agree with you Macejko.

Jim: your opinion is a little harsh, considering you've only heard 60 to 90 seconds of each track.

Jim2013-06-04 21:51:50
Lol, right Macejko...I mean, if you don't enjoy musical and well-developed thematic material, varied and balanced instrumentation, appropriate use of percussion (as opposed to the crutch Zimmer uses it as) and actual musicality, and instead can only deal with the same boring repeated ostinato garbage over and over again, I can see how you might prefer Zimmer over Giacchino.

Edmund Meinerts2013-06-04 21:59:19
lol, Macejko...Giacchino is easily one of the most talented composers of the last decade.

Jim2013-06-04 22:01:17
I've heard enough to know it's exactly the same kind of monotonous, trite, boring crap as he came up with for TDK. Again...ostinato strings, brass swells, pounding and overused percussion, no themes whatsoever and way too repetitive. Zimmer's music is background noise - more akin to sound effects than music. It's an aside. An afterthought. A backdrop. A shadow. A score should be so much more than this IMHO. His do nothing for me. They don't speak to me at all. Don't communicate anything. It's canned and boring, soulless and dry. If MoS is a great movie, it will be in spite of the soundtrack.

Macejko2013-06-04 22:06:49
Well, my guess is that he's not gonna change this style anytime soon, so you can leave this place in peace and listen to whatever "quality" music you listen to.

Jim2013-06-04 22:12:39
Sure...except I have to put up with his crap, don't I? Believe me, I wanted to love the MoS soundtrack. I heard Zimmer was doing it and I prayed it wasn't going to be more of the same junk of his like TDK. Boy, am I let down. Come on people...we need to demand better than this.

Hybrid Soldier2013-06-04 22:41:20
Get a life, dude... :)

Jim2013-06-04 22:57:54
Never understood that. Somebody discusses something, and suddenly that means they have no life. Hmmmm, yep, ok, makes sense to me.

Ds2013-06-04 23:52:16
Jim, i guess it's only a matter of taste. I love the samples and i usually love Zimmer's scores. I think they are powerful, majestic and highly emotional. His music really speaks to me.

Guitwo2013-06-05 01:19:29
Talking about TDK's soundtrack do you wanna refer to the Joker theme?

background noise? well that is, sometimes, quite enough to make a huge soundtrack. I don't consider Reznor's Social Network soundtrack as a great, outstanding. To me it was just background noise yet it seems that a lot of people actually loved it.

and to be honest, to say he hasn't write anything good or great for a movie for a long time you really haven't listen to one of his last complete recording sessions.

Frank2013-06-05 01:33:07
Guitwo, yes the Joker theme is disturbing and noisy, but that is exactly how a mad man(chaotic and anarchic) such as Joker should sound like. And speak of TR's Social Network, I admit it's not enjoyable but again it's the only type of music to fit the movie and I believe that's the reason they get an Oscar.

Guitwo2013-06-05 06:07:39
i didn't mean nothing but what you've just said pale. the point is that it's a matter of what music fits best the movie then it's a matter of taste for music.

Mike2013-06-05 07:43:35
Say what you want in defense of Zimmer, but I do like Michael Giacchino--not because he sounds like Williams, but simply because he's a good composer.
