"Shrek" was undoubtedly a worldwide success, asking for many suites (Shrek 3 is in pre-production). One of the great interest from this animated movie was the third collaboration of two great composers (after Antz and Chicken Run), the music of John Powell and Harry Gregson-Williams : following all the very different scenes of the story, mixing rythms, pop songs and orchestral arrangements. But in the first opus dvd release, no mention of it was present. A shame for the fans !

We won't be euphoric with what the Shrek2 DVD brings to us, but it's better than nothing. The documentary point out the movie's musical treatment, the role and narrative aspect of each song. Musically, Harry Gregson-Williams had to link very different scenes and arranged some songs. A short view of the recording sessions, conducted by the most productive and one of the most talented ex-MV composer, a few words from Harry... What could we ask for more ? Oh yes, an orchestral part with a length a bit longer than only 50 seconds.

Maybe for Shrek 3...
