Black Hawk Down DVD
Movie : 2h18
Length of documentary (Original Soundtrack) : 18 minutes
Three different versions for the same movie
One containing only the movie, another includes a bonus DVD with a 2 hours "Making of" and the other has a third bonus DVD intitled "War Archives" which has two war documentaries and promotional material for the film.

Of course, we strongly recommend you get the 2 or 3 DVD edition which includes the 18 minutes supplement on Hans' Score.
The movie itself plays like a raw documentary (photography, editing,...) and to accentuate the feeling of chaos, Zimmer's music needed to blur the lines between good and evil, something the production team were desperate to convey to the audience. Ethnic and orchestral to avoid too many cliches, Zimmer's vision of the score was an ambience.
The documentary illustrates the tight collaboration and even complicity of the scoring crew : sound technicians as much as the musicians participated in a fusion of efforts to achieve the composer's perfectionist vision. Until now, no documentary had managed to immerse itself in the intimate process of creation at the heart of Mediaventures, to accurately show the kind of mood the crew works in, sometimes stressful, often falsely playful, but to serve one clear objective : to bring music to the pictures in order for them to fully express themselves. Amongst other funny anecdotes, Zimmer anxiously fears bad CD sales for the music label. Far from being a documentary concentrating solely on the score, these quasi stolen pictures filmed at the heart of rehearsals answers many questions every Zimmer and Mediaventures fan has had. A huge satisfaction to see a consecrated composer having a complete section devoted to his work. A must see.
