At Elin Carlson's website, she states that the lyrics to Diva's song are "random Latin." Just thought I should post that I found that to help clarify anything. =]

someone has posted its "gibberish" lyrics here before, just search the previous pages. there're 2 lyrics posted, but i think the one starting with "Ahllah tiise oh rekaih ahlemolmo Eamoe stroooh al me ato" more suitable

Thanks Leah, but even if they are gibberish, i really don't care. It would be cool to sing them anyway. So if you know them, do please tell.

The lyrics are just gibberish really. Mark Mancina didn't bother coming up with proper lyrics to the song. It's beautiful regarless.

Forgot 2 add that i don't actually think its latin, unless prenunceation is off cause trust me, latin is one of the uglyiest languages known. no wonder its dead. I just really want to know what she's saying cause i mean i could sing it on like oh and ah, but its no fun that way. Besides its a great song to showcase my higher notes. My voice is still changeing , and i don't take lessons but so far my range is about 3.5 octaves. I can just barely hit the g above the f in the song, so its like the perfect song. While im thinking of it, if any 1 knows a really great opera teacher on the East Coast please share. Thanks (again) !!!

Hey any 1 know where i can get the lyrics to Divas song, i dont care if theyre nonsence. Besides maybe theyre not commpletely. Also is it classical or Ecclisiastical latin, cause that changes prenunciation? You guys seem to know alot so figured id ask here. Thanks!

Elin Carlson says it is random latin but says she no longer has the music.
and it is true some of the words sound latin..
but unless we have the actual lyrics shown to us we will never really know.
i do wonder why Mark Mancina is so selfish with these particular lyrics...you can easily find lyrics to his other popular songs.
whats so different about this one? not to mention you cannot even buy the B+ album here in the states..you have to order from overseas....
that sucks!
i wish he would just put the lyrics on his site so we would know if it was actual latin or complete gibberish...and even if it is complete gibberish just seeing it would make me happy.

No, I'm a Japanese Language major. I'm not quite fluent yet, but I can say 100% that that is NOT Japanese. There are syllables in there that do not exist in the Japanese language. For example, at one point she sings what sounds like "stray," which, in Japanese, would have to be "sutorei." Consonants can't connect like that, unless the first one is an N. There are "unvoiced" vowels in a lot of words, but if you pay attention, even those words still maintain some of the vowels, and there's no way that three consonants (s-t-r) would ever be pronounced that close together in Japanese.

there's no way it's japanese. it's just some gibberish with no meaning, but sounds like latin to me

My opera professor analyzed Diva's song. She said its Japanese. Definately not italian or latin. BTW i think the spelling is wrong in the lyrics listed below.

Usually I like to root for the good guy...But the fact that Diva's insanity and evilness came from her loneliness and never being treated lke her sister, of being locked up in a tower by the first Joel and being treated like a test subject by Amshel... I could not bring myself to dislike her. The image of her dying and Saya trying to help her when her body started falling apart... of when her voice changed when she said " big sister"..and then her reaching out for her babies honestly made me cry.

It seems that no one is really sure of the lyrics or the translation but without a doubt its eerily beautiful. The song fits Diva like a glove. I do believe its about sadness and the cold depths of loneliness. Diva was lost in those depths until she realized it was her home. Her babys were her escape. Finally she had something to believe in. Finally she wasnt alone. I identify alot with Diva (if it hasnt been obvious alredy). She will be missed along with the rest of the show.

Hey everyone! I was the one that posted the lyrics a while back (2007/10/07). I am going to try and record myself singing this song, and upload it on YouTube. At least I'm going to TRY. I can sing most of the song, but the only parts I can not do are towards the end when they get extremely high and powerful, I might sing them an octave lower or a note lower, to make it sound better with my voice. (Elin Carlson did such an amazing job, I wish I could sing as powerful as her!) I've been singing opera songs for..3 years now as well. I'm also going to try taking this to my singing tutor to see if she can help! Wish me luck :D
Oh and by the way, everyone that thanked me, your welcome! I'm not fully positive if those were the exact lyrics, but some words were in latin that I could make out.

My 12 year old loves anime and has been taking singing lessons for several years. She flipped when she heard Diva's aria, which combines her two loves. It's quite lovely. Elin Carlson is very talented. The music is just as haunting.
