Lorne Balfe

Now that we know that Lorne Balfe seemingly composed the majority of music for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, does anyone know what other music he's responsible for?

What cues did he compose for:

King Arthur
The DaVinci Code
Transformers 1 & 2
The Dark Knight

I consider myself pretty good at picking out MV/RCP composers' style, but I can't seem to figure his...

Lorne used to be Henning Lohner & RGW's assistant.

He just did some programming for RGW on King Arthur...

He is nowadays to Hans what Glennie-Smith was in the 1990s... He is Hans's TOP guy !

He co-composed Frost/Nixon, The Dark Knight, Angels & Demons, Madagascar 2, Casi Divas (yeah I insist on co-composing instead of Additional Music) with Hans and was "used" by HZ as a "special weapon" to help on Bee Movie, Iron Man, Transformers
1 & 2...

From what several people at MV told me, he's immensly talented... Surprisingly, he hasn't fully started his solo career yet (unlike Henry Jackman), probably because he is too involved in Hans's career (and his own style being totally mixed with Hans doesn't help to recognize his work).

He's also very nice, though not really talkative about himself and his career (no way to ask him what he did on which score, because he did much more than the official credits saysmilie).

It's not a surprise Hans "gave" him COD...

In the near future he's definitely the guy to follow with Henry Jackman, coming out of MV...

Thanks for the info!

So does this mean in a few years we'll finally know what cues he composed and we'll be able to piece together his sound, ala Nick Glennie-Smith? smilie

Well, he may be very well talented as you say, but it is not with CODMW2 that he will shows us that he is. The score for that game sounds so uninspired...same 3 themes repeated over and over. I mean, the music is not bad, but it is not excellent either. It is well written, but miss a little something. sounds generic, I don't know.

It probably works best within the game which is where it is meant to be played. smilie But frankly, I was expecting something more from this score. Maybe the short timeframe they had to produce such amount of music has something to do, but from the credits I've seen they seem to have been a big team to work on this one

So far, the best talent to come out from RC recently to me is still Steve Jablonsky, and by far.

But we'll see in the future how well Lorne Balfe can convince us about is talent. smilie I'm sure he have all the tools needed to do it. He only need the occasion to demonstrate it. Unfortunately, CODMW2 was not the one.

Ciao,
Martin.

I've played the game for maybe 2 hours, and the music is very good in it.
It fulfilled it's purpose to support the experience withouth pulling out the player from the actual gameplay.
Some levels have that adrenaline pumping feeling thanks to the score.
So as a standalone listen, I'd give the score 6/10, in the game it is closer to 7/10.

The score is certainly growing on me. It was a little cold at first, before I played the game, but once I put images to the music, it started to make more sense. There's a LOT of music too!
