ONE RING TO RULE THEM ALL... (Howard Shore : Nice 2006)
The Philharmonic Orchestras of Cannes and San Remo (120 musicians) and 200 chorus-singers performed at 8PM on Saturday 28th October in Nice-Acroprolis (FRANCE) “the Lord of the Rings Symphony” by Howard SHORE.
Before that enormous event (and what's more : free !), we had a conference at 7PM: ‘Around the composition of soundtracks’ with Howard SHORE directed by Annick DUBOIS, Professor at the Musicology Department of UNSA.
Created in November 2003 in New-Zealand, the Lord of the Rings Symphony is a large musical fresco in 6 movements for symphony orchestra, chorus of adults and children, and soloists.
Twelve hours of music made up for the trilogy of the Lord of the Rings in long versions were adapted and rearranged by Howard Shore for a two-hour symphony : The Lord of the Rings: Symphony in six movements, which was already performed in London and Sydney.
This program, which was illustrated by Alan Lee and John Howe’s story-board of film, was diffused on giant screen and had been conducted by Markus Huber, with performance from soprano Ann DE RENAIS
Hans-Zimmer.com wishes to thank the Conseil general des Alpes-Maritimes for their amazing event ("C'est Pas Classique" : not enough publicity, we were about to miss the concert...) and high quality concert. Many thanks to the press department and "Manu"
